What's Wrong With....? -Suri & Vynz's Origins

[Tree]

" Yes.. this guy... he's about to die, or so he claims... and he's got a rather unique attitude... and he makes amazing sand castles...... but i can't find him."

[Sushi]

"That's too bad. He sounds like quite the character." Vynz smiled lightly, stalking along behind her.

[Tree]

" I know... his sister is a little over zealous though."



That was clearly jest as she smiled brightly, glancing to vynz, making a small face.



" I don't like walking miles on end... can we get something else if we have further travel?"

[Sushi]

Vynz shrugged.



"Won't bother me." He pulled out that spinner and placed it in his hand.

[Tree]

Suri smiled gratefully, soon driving a little mazda Miata and humming to herself as they followed the little compass.



" You know.. This could seriously lead to nowhere, and that'd suck."

[Sushi]

"How does the saying go? 'It's not about the destination. It's about the journey.'?" Vynz, however, was joking, leaning on the window lightly. The man gazed out. After a minute he spoke again.



"Hey, can you do me a favor? Can you stop for a second?"

[Tree]

Suri made a small face, looking to him a moment, nodding as she slowly pulled over to the side of the road, not sure what could possibly be the problem.

[Sushi]

Vynz nodded to her and then got out, disappearing into the treeline. About three minutes passed before he reappeared. He slipped back into the car without a word.

[Tree]

Ever hear that ' don't ask, don't tell' policy the military had? Yep, Suri happened to live by it as she looked over Vynz slipping back into her car, soon back on the road.

[Sushi]

Vynz shifted slightly. He was silent. However... after about five minutes he couldn't hold it in any more.



"GAH! Can I have a strand of your hair?!"

[Tree]

Suri glanced over, stopping the car.



" I didn't think vampires did voodoo."

[Sushi]

"We don't... Or at least, I don't know any that do." Vynz looked at her expectantly before tacking on an afterthought.



"Please?" Come on, it was just one strand of hair.

[Tree]

" Then why my hair?"



Yep... this couldn't be vynz.

[Sushi]

"Because mine isn't long enough." He looked at her flatly, as though this was the most obvious thing in the world.

[Tree]

" For?"

[Sushi]

"Do you really want me to answer that?"

[Tree]

" I asked."

[Sushi]

Vynz rolled his eyes.



"I have a bit of fur stuck in my teeth, one of the many reason that I HATE feeding off of animals."

[Tree]

suri made a face. Yep, shouldn't have asked. However, he soon had his hair, actually, he had three or four as she started the car once more, driving off, no words to be said.

[Sushi]

Vynz sat there, winding the strands together, as this made them stronger and less likely for his teeth to shear through. He threw her a glance.



"You asked. I even gave you the chance to change your mind, but you insisted. Like I said, I normally share whatever when asked." He began to floss right there, until finally he had fished out the little bunch of gray fur. The man made a face at it. Animals were disgusting. But he had been starving.

[Tree]

" I know, I know."



she protested, making another face as she purposely stared at the road.... men.

[Sushi]

Vynz watched her for a minute, after a small smile.



"You act like you don't know what I am. That's kind of like me looking at you and asking you why you are holding a stick."

[Tree]

" I try not to think about details. I don't like blood."

[Sushi]

"Fair enough. I don't like jello. Makes me think of mucus."

[Tree]

" ... Sorry."



Yep, she was thinking of the little bar... oops.

[Sushi]

"No worries." Vynz grinned at her lightly, only blinking as the little pointer flew from the dash and smacked his chest before plunking into his hand, quivering as it pointed.



"Alright, then." He looked up to see where they were.

[Tree]

Looking about at the town they were now in the middle of, Suri had to glance to Vynz, and pinch herself before she believed what she saw, slowly getting out of the car. It looked like Salem... not like the real thing, but what everyone imagined it looking like.... it even gave off that air as she wondered over to lightly touch one of the houses.... this was all so weird...... the even weirder thing was the fact the entire place felt as if it were frozen in time... as if they shouldn't be moving about as they were.....



" I don't like this place."



Impressed, yes, concerned, definitely.

[Sushi]

Vynz didn't respond. He pushed the pointer into his pocket, walking away from the car. He was... almost perplexed, really. The man stood in the middle of the street, looking around.



"It is... muted." He had earlier experienced silence for the first time, but even prior to that, he would have noticed the strange fact about this place. Something about it wasn't as loud as it should have been.

[Tree]

" You know.. I think from now on you should do some investigation before you date people."



Suri commented, noticing that this place was frozen in time, seeing a woman, not breathing, but clearly living held in the stocks... Okay, this was weird.

[Sushi]

"I don't date anymore." Vynz spoke the words distractedly.



"And I have never since made such a mistake as I did then. Like I said, I was young, and I was very stupid." The man walked along, squatting down before a small child who was in the middle of tripping. Carefully, Vynz rested his hands on the child's sides, guiding him down so that he was laying on his back on the stones. With each iota of movement, there was life exposing, blinking, a cry, the change of expression.

[Tree]

" No wonder your such a stiff."



she teased, looking over the people, trying to figure out who, or even why this was done, face wrinkling.



" I'd almost think this woman would like this place... a clear picking of people to choose from... obviously preserved..."

[Sushi]

"Maybe she is preserved too. That would be ironic justice." The man walked along, obviously not bothering with her joke.

[Tree]

"Neither of us are that lucky. Our luck is we figure out why this is like this, just to become one of them, then be eaten by the weirdo."

[Sushi]

"Nah, she'd probably just eat you. Vampires taste grimy, from what I have been told." Vynz was just teasing her now, perplexed as he walked down the street. There was something, something strange. There were more people faced in one direction than the other. They all seemed to be headed towards what would logically be the center square.

[Tree]

" I've never tried... are you offering?"



she ventured, looking over Vynz.

[Sushi]

"Depends on where you want to bite me." Vynz spoke this one almost distractedly as he walked along, getting a bad, eerie feeling.

[Tree]

Suri held her comments to this one, rubbing at her skin a moment before looking to Vynz.



" are you sure that thing wants us here?"

[Sushi]

Vynz sighed.



"I don't know anything for sure." He stopped suddenly. He stood there in the middle of the street, feeling a chilly wind on his back. Granted, it did not bother him, but he could recognize hot and cold. His voice dropped low.



"...'Injustice boils in men's hearts as does steel in its cauldron, ready to pour forth, white hot, in the fullness of time.'" He quoted Mother Jones before looking at Suri.



"I know what happened..." His eyes turned back to the sight before him.



"Time stood still in the wake of this great injustice." There were erected in the town square a set of gallows. Swinging, or rather frozen at the moment where the fall would have ended and they were left out to dry, two figures hung above the scaffold. A stout, perhaps stubby man on the left, looking only to be in his late twenties. A little boy with fair and rosy cheeks on the right. But behind this structure was another.



A tall wooden beam jutted from the ground. About it stood a sort of conical pile of wood. And atop it stood a delicate woman, bound to the beam. She was tall and willowy, and she was screaming. Tears flew from her wild face. Though the fires had been lit, it was obvious that she was not yet burning. She was being forced to watch these two being hung.



Vynz found that he could not tear away his eyes from the horrifying scene.



((Man, I'm killing random people left and right today.))

Watching Vynz, looking over what stood before them, suri spoke slowly.





" it's not our place to meddle in time, is it? for these people, this was happening easily two hundred years or more ago."

[Sushi]

Vynz stayed there for a moment, almost seeming frozen himself, before he finally turned to face her.



"What exactly are you asking me?"
