What's Wrong With....?

" I'm suppose to use dried next. But they are out of all possible substitues... Sweat wouldn't work.. It'd probably turn the place into an indoor lake...."

Vynz sighed and pressed a hand to his forehead.

"Would live work?" Poor Glob... However, if it meant that it would anti-jello the bar, Vynz was prepared to sacrifice his pet newt.

" it has to have been dead for at least a month."

She replied with a faint sigh, looking to the ceiling, wanting to throw a fit.

"Well, then I guess Glob's life is spared." Vynz shrugged slightly, wandering over to look at a very odd lava-lamp thing. It was... intriguing.

"What now?"

" I could turn it into something else... "

She thought, considering her options, trying to think of a solution better then Jell-o. Pudding wasn't it.... Nor custard, or ice cream..... Perhaps....

" I suppose I could probably swing re-enforced cardboard..."

"What are you going to do with that? We have plenty of it, seeing as our alcohol is shipped in boxes made of it, but how is that anything like a newt?"

" No, no no. I mean, I could change the jello into cardboard. It's gotta be a bit better."

Vynz just stared at her, and then he sighed.

"I think... I'm going to contract mono."

Suri looked up at him.

" I think I might too, might be easier. I can't help the newt issue... I guess I need to make a few calls."

Vynz just shrugged.

"Go for it. So... how long do you think this will take?"

Vynz. Just. Stared.

"...Maybe I should look for some new real estate?" Or did practice make perfect? He was really asking if she needed some help from him.

Suri made a small face.

" I should likely make a phone call."

Vynz just shrugged again.

"Yeah..." With that he wandered out of the shop, standing in the humid air that creeped over his skin. There was no moon tonight and the darkness felt tangible and slick. His bright blue eyes watched as a bat flew back and forth between too tall and run down buildings.

About an hour later, Suri sighed, looking over Vynz.

" Found some."

she said hesitantly.

Vynz glanced down the alley a little ways to the woman.

"Why does it seem that there should be a 'but' in that statement?"

"Mononucleuosis." And that was that. At least in Vynz's mind.

"I already did." Vynz grinned at her triumphantly, but then looked away again.

"So, do you have to go to Cuba or something? Or is going to be shipped to you?"

Vynz paused for a moment, thinking.

"You know... I went there once. I have a younger... uh... cousin by marriage twice removed, that lives down there. Nice place. Very humid, though."

" Yeah... I'll be back in tow or three days."

She replied simply, moving off.

"Have fun." Vynz was thinking about how he needed to go feed his newt. He was probably going to go do that before too long. And maybe give the little guy a treat as celebration of his living another day.

Suri smiled and sighed, wondering from the little shop, and was snatching a local broom to fly off.

You see, Glob was a fantastic lure. Glob was actually one of his favorite ways to find his unwitting prey. Tonight was a little redhead that was far too naive for her own good. Lesson be learned.

Either way, that was life. Vynz played a lot of his guitar and a little of his video game. He managed to FINALLY beat the two headed thing...

Hair frayed, and dried newt in hand, two days later Suri was making her way back to her lovely little Jello home.

Vynz was glaring at the bricks.

"I'm considering killing you." He was of course talking to a little man who was very meticulously pricking Vynz with a needle. The little squirrely man just laughed.

"Little beastie in my clutches, I likes it very muches."

"That is annoying as hell." Prick. "WOULD YOU FREAKING STOP THAT?! EITHER PICK UP SOMETHING MORE SUBSTANTIAL OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL!" Vynz tried to squirm but couldn't, face flatlining.

"Tisket, tisket too impatient, far too bad for one so ancient." Prick.

Soon back at the bar, she was setting outside, casting her spell, watching the wood reform, and seeing the building looking normal once more. Smiling, ever so brightly, she wondered off towards her apartment, perfectly content.

Vy knocked on Suri's door, not much more than an hour after the woman had returned. She didn't know how, but this had to be tied to the girl. If she had known Suri was going to be this much trouble...

"Suri, are you home?"

Suri sighed, looking to the door, thinking about not answering, but knew better.

" I guess."

"I think we need to have a chat." Vy thought for a minute and her voice lost the business edge and appealed to her more natural tones.

"Please?"

Glancing up, she nodded and the door swung open on it's own accord, Suri merely setting at her writing desk, making a little grocery list.

" I'm really sorry."

she said slowly, looking up at Vy.

Vy looked at her with a furrowed brow and her lips pressed into a thin line. However, she didn't loom up in that condescending manner she typically used. The woman was concerned.

"So you did have something to do with Vynz's disappearance? What happened?" She had no idea about the jello building.

Now suri made a small face, looking completely puzzled, looking over the woman.

" Vynz? I didn't do anything with him...."

Vy's face fell into a very curious expression. The emotion behind it couldn't be exactly pinpointed, but it was obviously not a good one. She shut the door behind her now.

"...He disappeared with 'mono' at the same time you went wherever you went. You're telling me that's completely unconnected coincidence?"

" OH! he just didn't......... wanna... deal... with... ..... you."

She tried to explain simply, feeling awkward telling her boss that her other boss didn't wanna deal with them.

Vy's mouth twitched slightly with an almost-smile.

"Do you have any siblings, Suri?" She gestured offhandedly as she realized that she was getting off-topic.

"Never mind. I figured that. But he hasn't been to his house for three days and I can't find him in any of his normal haunts. That's what is concerning me. I can't find him. But if you didn't do anything to him, then I guess I'll leave you to your business." She walked back to the door, giving Suri a skeptical glance before opening it. Vy wasn't sure that she believed this was all just coincidence, but Suri seemed sincere...

Suri merely shrugged and laid upon her bed, wondering what on earth could have happened to the lonely bored young vampire, such as Vynz. To her, it made little sense as well, eyes wondering the ceiling as her brain attempted to understand.

Vynz sat in the edge of the room, frowning deeply as the scent of the earth enveloped him. He hated the underground. Honestly, he only knew one vampire that didn't mind underground, but she was a fruitcake anyhow. For the moment he was alone, which was a small relief. But just that, only a small one. He was trapped, despite the door in the corner. Not to mention, he wanted to kill that crazy creature that came and went. But he couldn't. That was his only hope at this point, seeing as Vynz didn't believe in luck. He got up and kicked the dirt wall.

By the next day, Vy had come to the conclusion that Vynz was dead. To her, he would remain as such unless he returned. Time to hire a new bartender...
