Hunter and Naomi's Prelude

Post by Tree »

Naomi was alright with this, pulling him to her, eagerly taking the offered comfort and pleasure. Even afterwords though, she was under him, keeping the blankets closer, lover closer. She was safe, and she knew this with Hunter closer, and that's why this woman slipped to sleep with the storm that sounded more fierce then ever. Now, if he left, she'd be awake, but for the time being, the woman rested.

Hunter moved just a little. He shifted so that he could lay beside her. He would stay until she woke up. That was what he always did, after all. The man dozed lightly beside her. He'd adjust the thermostat later.

Naomi woke sometime in between 4 and 5 in the morning, and she smiled, kissing at the sleeping Hunter, cooing to him lightly. She was much happier to have some normality.

Hunter roused rather unremarkably. He blinked a few times clearing sleep from his vision. The man shifted slightly, playing his fingers across her spine.

"Mmm... morning."

He moved so that he could glance at the clock.

Naomi jumped slightly at the loud noise outside, and then looked over Hunter.

" It doesn't sound like it's any better outside."

She stated softly, fingers absently toying over Hunter's chest.

"It isn't."

Hunter pet her head absently, kissing Naomi once. Then, he sat up.

Naomi shivered as he moved away, sitting up as well, locating a robe she swore wasn't there yesterday, tugging it on and moving and kissing Hunter before she stood up, then off to the microwave she went.

Hunter disappeared. The man moved into his house. He did turn the heat up, however. He had forgotten about that. He only ever bothered to keep it about 65 in his house. Now, he bumped it up to 70 and the air clicked on. The sun was about the rise, not that you could really see it through the storm. After it did, there would be a small diversion.

Naomi was quickly stir crazy. She was sitting by the window, frowning openly, then up and pacing, then back to sitting. She was never idle during the day. Clinic, cleaning, reading... something. But nothing here.... Just sit and worry.

Hunter wasn't idle. He was doing things. However, it would be easy to forget his presence, as he wasn't out in the area that she was. Naomi would have heard a snarl just a moment before she was pounced.

"NO!"

Hunter's voice bellowed through the house, and the movement stopped just a moment before the weight was torn away.

"Are you okay?"

The man asked this of Naomi as he looked down at the wolf that was getting back up to its feet, eying the woman with distrust while staying close to the vampire's legs. The wolf was white, except for a little patch of pale brown and gray across the ridge of his back. It was nothing out of the ordinary for the region.

Naomi was pulling herself to her feet, brushing herself off as she looked over the creature now hiding behind her lover's legs.

" I am fine."

She stated gently as she considered the minor cut on her arm, wiping it clean and seeming to fidget. Nope, even being half attacked didn't help the issues with being idle.

Hunter shifted now, casting a glance over her. He gave a small nod, gesturing to the wolf that was now growling at her.

"This is Fang."

No, he wasn't joking. He kicked the wolf gently, to which it responded by biting Hunter's ankle. Interesting relationship.

"Be nice to Ms. Linu, Fang."

The wolf now stalked closer to Naomi, circling her. No, he didn't look domesticated at all.

Naomi glanced to hunter, wanting to poke him in the eye for the name he used... but since it wasn't towards her, it was alright. Either way, Naomi was struggling, looking at Hunter after a minute ( No, she was not paying said wolf any mind.) .

" I will go mad..."

She declared simply.

"I thought as much."

Hunter looked her over, seeming to be debating whether he would say anything else. Then, he gave an approving nod.

"I am having records pulled for you and some letters of recommendation. You'll find that well suited. It'll take a day or two, but then I'm sure you can search for new employment if you wish."

He gestured for her to follow him this time. He turned and slipped down the hallway by the main entrance to his house. It emptied out into a room with a curved window wall. He called it his reading room. Some people might call it a mini-library. Either way, the two walls were nothing but shelves of books. It wasn't a huge room either, probably about 16x14.

Naomi nodded, but then she paused.

" if I look for new work, do i lose you?"

she asked honestly, already reaching for a nearby book.

Hunter paused by the second door, turning back to look at her.

"If you find it around here? No."

He shrugged and then he slipped through the door with only one more comment.

"But you might lose yourself."

Naomi sighed, settled and reading already. His comment lingered, but nothing she paid mind to right now. She was an active person, she didn't like holding still. However, books would work for now.

Truthfully, this was when Hunter slept. Sure, he would doze for an hour or two when he was with her, but he would take his real sleep in the mornings at nine. Three hours and thirty-seven minutes exactly. That was his routine. He liked that part of his day. He didn't have to worry about everything else.

Fang stalked into the room. He sat down at Naomi's feet, staring her down as though daring her to do something wrong, to damage the master's things.

Naomi still ignored the wolf, turning page after page. She had no cause to fear this creature. Why? She didn't see Hunter keeping her in a purposeful harm's way.

Absently she moved from the chair, shelving the book and reaching for another. She was mindful not to step on the creature that seemed to be stalking her.

As she reached for that book, Fang began to growl at her, baring his teeth. He shifted a little closer, lowering to the ground some. His shoulderblades poked up, and he looked like he might pounce.

Naomi sighed looking at Fang a moment, and then she plucked the book free none the less. And on to reading she started.

" You need a new hobby."

She informed the wolf, reading on.

Fang bit her. That's right, he honest-to-goodness buried his teeth into her left calf. Apparently, he didn't have the sense of humor she did.

Naomi was not happy with this, and this would be why the large hard back tome she held was now used to hit said wolf as hard as she could in the head. Resulting in a knocked out animal and Naomi locating the bathroom to wash and clean up her leg. Ouch. Ouch.. Ouch. Damn creature.

"There is a first aid kit under the sink."

This was said in a low, grumbling voice. Hunter got woken up. He was currently holding the unconscious animal by the scruff of the neck, and he continued walking down the hallway after saying this.

Man, it was more than a first aid kit, though. It was like a toolbox for doctors, down to surgical equipment in sterile packaging. No big surprise. He didn't really care for hospitals.

Naomi sighed, washing her hands and tending her injury, contemplating carrying that book around with her more often now that she knew this dumb thing was going to be harassing her.

" I knew you liked wild, but not vicious."

She stated absently, calf soon wrapped and a couple tylennol later, forgotten.

Hunter was currently walking through the living room.

"He's not vicious. Actually, you probably just made friends with him. Bite on the ear BS, you know."

Naomi sighed, watching Hunter now, not moving to follow, walking was slightly uncomfortable at the moment. It would likely get better with a small amount of time.

Hunter rummaged around in the kitchen for a little bit and then returned. He handed Naomi a bag full of ice.

"What are you planning on doing?"

Naomi sighed, considering this a moment, moving to sit and hold the ice to her leg, thinking this over, then looking to Hunter.

" I have not the slightest. I don't think that going back to work is a wise idea, but I have to do something, just sitting around here during the day and wrestling with your pet, and getting laid at night... I'll go mad."

Not that he wasn't entertaining, but still...

Hunter was a little bit cranky. He was supposed to be sleeping right now.

"Do you want me to give you something to do?"

Naomi sighed, glancing up at Hunter, leaning over and kissing him.

" go back to bed."

He had that bed head look. It was actually attractive, but she wanted him to get his needed rest.

Naomi sighed.

" I am fine until after you sleep. "

Naomi replied, intending to nap, actually, as she still had a bit of recovering still.

Hunter considered her for a moment. Then, he gave a nod.

"Alright, same as before. It would be best if you stay inside. Avoid locked doors."

The man slipped away then into his own room.

Noami did watch him disappear into one of those locked rooms, and that confirmed one suspicion, but she did not ask, slipping to sleep on the couch. Not that the animal was around, but she did have that book under her arms as she rest .

Yes, one of the locked doors led to his bedroom, er, bedroom suite. The other locked door led to the subterranean level of his house. A few hours later, Hunter must have been up. Either that, or the house was haunted. The front door opened and shut. The man had excused himself.

Naomi was fine with napping, and even after she was done she she merely shifted to return to reading this old and worn book. She actually seemed so absorbed you would be doing good to gain her attention right now.

Well, perhaps it wouldn't be Hunter that woke her up. It would likely be Fang. The animal stalked around the living room, wet. Obviously he had been outside. The animal poked his head around the end of the couch, staring at Naomi for a minute. Then, he disappeared. You could hear him panting for a minute before he walked around the other side of the couch.

Thwsplat.

The wolf dropped a rabbit carcass into her lap, sitting down and watching her expectantly. He had his head cocked to the side, tongue hanging out. At the moment he looked domesticated.

Naomi considered the animal a moment, and then the dead thing in her lap. Slowly she reached over and scratched behind the wolf's ears. It was a universal feel good spot on a dog like animal. If it was wanting to make peace, she'd give it a shot. she could go for some company.

Fang enjoyed this for a few seconds before turning his head and biting her wrist. This time it was one of those bites that pets give when they are playing or whatever. He didn't even break the skin. Then, the damp wolf promptly got up and moved closer to her. He sniffed at her, sticking his cold nose under the hem of her shirt and up against her belly.
