I Didn't Think It Would Happen Like This

" ... I liked you better without."

She replied, moving to toss them at him, not wanting to be accused of something else, moving from her spot in the grass. He'd ruined her semi-good mood. She cared, and hated him at the same time. it was a situation that was starting to torment her.

Lot didn't catch the pants, didn't even pull his hands out of his pockets in fact. This was kind of strange if you thought about the situation with the coat before, but still the clothes smacked him in the face and then fell off and to the ground. Lot turned away, stepped over them, and bit his tongue as he continued to the house - shouldering it open.

Currently going off silently to herself about men, and that they weren't worth it, and that the entire race should be allowed to die out so it wouldn't have to feed off each other and torment each other like it did, even now. She not only was on a man-hate tyrant... but a life-thrashing one, too.

Elizabeth would have probably been overjoyed to know at this point that Lot was wrapping up his bleeding hand. Yup. Locked bathroom doors were the basis of society if you thought about it.

Victoria sighed as she went down to make her dinner that night, still cross with accusations that more hurt, then honestly upset her ( finally) wishing he'd see she wasn't in it for herself... cause if she was, she'd have killed him when given the chance....

Lot actually walked into the kitchen on purpose that evening. he was wearing winter gear. Why? Well, that gave him an excuse to wear mittens.

"Do you need more turpentine yet? Or any specific colors?"

Looking a bit taken back, she looked up at her master, considering him a moment.

" Before long, I will, but I will also need groceries in the house again, too."

She explained softly, looking down as she slowly slid into her chair. she was actually daring him to blame her moodiness on her period or something... if he hadn't noticed though, that wasn't the issue.

Lot nodded slightly, eyes not even flickering towards the cabinets.

"I knew about the groceries. I come down here too, despite your disbelief. What colors?"

she hesitated and thought for a moment... Just about all she currently had, plus a few new ones would be nice... well damn, how to say that without that coming out wrong.

Sighing inwardly, she looked over her master.

" Don't be cross with me."

She stated softly, not realizing it had slipped out until it was too late, sighing inwardly. Her damned mouth needed to learn to stay shut more.

Lot's face instantly pinched. He curled up his fingers.

"I was not being cross with you. If you would pause long enough to consult that tiny little brain of yours, then you would figure out that perhaps I was trying to be congenial. 'I'm going to the store, is there anything you would like?' And you turn your tongue with insult." The man hadn't even realized that he had picked up the sugar jar until he had thrown it at her.

Victoria hadn't been looking up, so she caught it right in the side of her head, the glass shattering on contact, the shards leaving cuts all over her face as she sugar showered her, making the bleeding start to sparkle.

Tears forming in her eyes as she now looked up, blood starting to cover the entire left side of her head, she spoke gently ( Even if her voice shook some), hands gingerly feeling the left side of her head to make sure it was still there, wincing and crying a bit more as she talked to him.

" I wasn't referring to now.. I'm sorry master."

She didn't know what else to say, or do. He'd done odd things to her, and hurt her emotioanlly, and minor physical things, but she honestly didn't knwo what to do about this right now. Her head was spinning, her blood was making a nice little spot of the floor, and she wasn't sure which hurt more. Her head, or her heart.

Not daring to move, fearing him getting more upset with her, she simply cried, already starting to feel a bit light headed, not realizing the shards that had fallen had also cut up her feet slightly, contributing to a second, sparkling little pool of sugar loaded blood on the floor.

Okay, he should have thrown flour or something. The blood enough was sweet and alluring, but now it shined like a glowing beacon to the castaway. Lot's pupils contracted tight and he clenched his fists even tighter. The man gritted his teeth. Throwing things was at least better than hitting her straight up. He could have (and probably would have had he been closer) done far more damage than a sugar bowl. After everything and the mounting scorn and frustration, was it really that surprising that he had done this? However, it took every last iota of his willpower to walk out and leave her there.

Hurt, and bleeding, she felt herself slowly sinking to her knees, the glass crunching into more tender flesh as she just bled from more outlets. Either way she was starting to lose a good amount of blood as she sat there, in a state of shock, unable to realize that she was toying with her own death right now.

Ilford slithered along the counter and then propped himself up to examine her. The snake flicked his tongue a couple times and then slithered away. When he came back, it was a funny sight. Tiki was grasped in the snake's tail (and not seeming too happy about it). When Ilford let go of Tiki, the little orange thing immediately saw the woman.

"OH NO! VICKY BLEEDING AND HURT AND BLEEDING!" The little creature screeched, plucking out a tiny little shard with some effort. Then he stepped back, splashing through the blood in a little blurry circle. "What Tiki do? Tiki do... Tiki... Vicky... Uh. Uh. Uh. Help. Tiki go get help! Snakeford no help. Uh..." He stopped suddenly looking at Ilford. The snake lowered his head slightly.

"What? Lot? No. Vicky bleeding. Snakeford says stupid things." The creature bounced slightly, seemed to be very anxious. "But Tiki no help. Gotta be Lot!" This happened within a matter of seconds and the little blur was gone, leaving bloody footprints in his wake.

Lot could smell it. The aroma was pungent, clinging to every air molecule. There was so much of it. The man was posing as a scrunched up bundle of winter clothes when Tiki came. That was new. The little monster never tried to find him... Lot ground his teeth together as the little thing began to babble.

Victoria wasn't really sure when tears and pain slipped into a nice black oblivion, she merely felt little hands tugign at her a moment before the world spun and was gone.

Hair spayed out in the sugar, liquid mess upon the floor, she almost looked like a poetic tragedy model, rather then a true victim to violence. However, there the woman was, utterly helpless.

When Tiki managed to get Lot back in the room, the man was nearly crazy with the smell. However, as he looked down on the unconscious woman, his stomach felt like it was filled with ice. He had removed the winter garb, and now knelt. His mouth felt dry. He had seen this play before. Several times actually. The girl always died in the end.

Lot's hands lifted the woman from the ground, feeling that jittery surge that came with the intoxicating smell, the feeling of the hot liquid dripping. He couldn't help himself. But at least he didn't need to bite her...

Several packages of gauze, half a roll of medical tape, a pair of tweezers, and some alcohol later, Lot pulled a blanket over her. When he left, he hadn't washed off the blood. He didn't have the willpower to. If he stayed to do much more than bandage her up, then her survival chances would drastically reduce. He couldn't even stay to see if she would live.

A solid day or so passed before Victoria even stirred, in that time, her breath had nearly stopped twice, and her heart rate dropped and fell at unpredictable intervals. As she came semi-to, she looked to see Ilford and Tiki setting ( so to speak) within arm reach of her, playing in what looked like playdoh, watching her.

Unable to get her limbs to do what she was telling them to, she felt weaker then ever, not sure what had really happened, as that knock on the head when she hit the floor had been hard enough to leave a lump. After a while she manged to ask Tiki for water, as he was the only one around, she, however, was rather surprised when the little creature brought her water, not only to her, but in the proper container, and it even seemed to be lacking a fish flavor as she drank it slowly.

As time passed, she could only piece together what must of happened as the memories of the event a few days passed now slowly were coming together for her. It simply made her cry as she lay there, her body ever so slowly recovering to the point she could eventually support herself enough to set up.

In a few days, Victoria was wobbling about the house, literally. She wanted nothing to do with Lot ( big surprise?) and she was more reliant on Tiki's help then was probably healthy, but she couldn't really help that, as she had just escaped death......

The day after the incident, several amazing phenomena occurred. All of the cupboards and the pantry in Elizabeth's favorite kitchen suddenly were stuffed with food. It was enough to last two people at least a month, if not two. Even the less favored kitchens were stocked with non-perishables.

The vase had been taken off of the long table outside the woman's room, and the lace doily had been shoved inside it, the entire thing stuck underneath. The table now held a stack of different sized canvases that still smelled of their primer and sawdust. Beside them lay huge tubes of almost any color imaginable.

The trapdoor to Lot's room was barred and locked, though no sounds came from above. That made sense, however, seeing as the man was not up there. In fact, he seemed to be nowhere.

In reality, though, Lot had made his way to the forgotten wing, that dusty room where he had hung Elizabeth's painting of him. His footprints from that time had already disappeared into the thick lay of dust and silence. Now there was only one set of footprints that went right to where the man stayed. Lot had pulled back the purple curtain and was now leaning against that table with the cloth that must once have been white but had faded to yellow. The silky blue fabric had been pulled forward slightly, the edge draped to the floor. The papers had been strewn across the top of the table. However, the picture frame had not been disturbed.

Lot's eyes had dark circles and something about him looked sickly as he sat there scrunched up and running his thumbs over the smooth black box he clutched on top of his knees. Other than that, the man did not move. Elizabeth was on her own.

On the bright side, Tiki was rather enjoying himself.

"Can Tiki pick clothes for Vicky? Please, please! Like the little dollies! Tiki has bunches of little dollies and like to put the little dresses on the little dollies! Vicky be a cutie-poo if Vicky listen to Tiki!"

Victoria smiled, ever so slightly at Tiki, shaking her head slowly.

" Not today Tiki, but you can help me get dressed."

She replied softly, currently setting with the clothes needed. Cautiously she relied on the little creature to help her as she struggled with being able to stand on one leg while she worked getting the pants she'd chosen on.

Once dressed (about half an hour later), Victoria slowly started working on trying to cope with everything going on about her as she looked about this place, tending to Tiki ( as he finally told her what he ate) and Ilford, as well as herself. Victoria never went in search of Lot. That was a very sore subject. How could one explain emotions concerning the man they'd nurse back from the brink of death? Emotions about the man the first slept with? ... About how she felt concerning the man that had all but killed her? Victoria was having hard times facing these facts as the days slowly passed, painting pictures that were probably as dark as they could be ( Not to mention, very abstract)... it was a poor attempt at distracting herself as she started to feel as if she were living in a prison... in complete isolation.

A week or so gone by, able to move about fully, if still a bit on the weaker side, Victoria stirred from her nap to the sound of knocking on the front door. Curious, and not caring the results of opening the door, she carefully worked on unlocking the doors, jaw dropping as she took in who was at the door, launching herself at the person the next second.

" Kyle."

Lot had not left that wing at all. By this point he was looking much more ragged, his eyes bloodshot and skin pallid. The knock at the door encouraged the man to move his eyes to the right, towards where he had come, but he did not get up. He continued to sit there, clutching that box.

Tiki immediately hid. It was something that the little fella did anyhow, though, so it was nothing to be concerned over. Ilford was the brave one, the one that coiled up on the floor and looked at the two.

Victoria instantly cling to the recognized face as she refused to let him go. After a long while though, she pulled back just a bit to look him over.

" How did you find me here?"

She asked, kind of confused as to where the heck he'd come from. ... Not that she was complaining.

Kyle looked her over and instantly wanted to pack the woman over his shoulder and out of the place. Especially thanks the the vibes he was getting from the place.

" How did you get in a mess like this, Vicky?"

He asked, looking the woman over, eyes suddenly sharpening.

" And who did you sleep with?"

Okay... So that last question hadn't been asked quietly and Victoria was currently staring at him, horrified now.

Ilford slithered up and climbed up the nearest fixture, falling down on the woman's shoulders with a heavy thud. The snake then proceeded to twine himself about the woman's body, all while staring Kyle down. Protection? Possession?

Victoria sighed softly as the shock wore off, and explained everything.... everything, to Kyle, soon setting in the floor, in tears, holding Ilford a bit closer, unaware of the looks on Kyle's face.

Kyle stared at the woman before him face slowly darkening as his fist slowly closed, considering the options open to him.

" I think getting you home, and out of a demon's grasp are the best options, for the moment. Then get you to a clinic to kill that spawn growing in your belly."

He said, meaning for the comment to be more to himself, not realizing his slip up.

THAT was when it hit him. The box was suddenly laying in the dust upside down. Lot stepped around the corner and pushed shut one of the two doors, staring at Kyle with burning eyes. His clothes were rumpled - in fact he looked nothing like the normal Lot at all.

"You are not welcome here."

Victoria looked shocked when she heard Lot's voice, and clearly horrified. She hadn't even tested yet. she didn't want to know, to be honest. It would have been the tip of the ice berg in a million little flaws with her current circumstances anyway... Besides... The child of slavery.... born to a mother in love with her master, and nearly killed by the same man... However, she doubted she'd have to worry about it. He'd probably put the day after pill or something in what she was eating......

Not sure how Kyle had known, or why he was as keen as Lot would be to destroy the creature, she started to cry.... Who could blame her? Lot had nearly killed her, and now she found out she was carrying his kid... and now her only friend in the entire world who even knew she was alive ( and she had yet to find out how she was found) was being thrown out of the house. ... it warranted tears to her.

Kyle looked to teh woman in tears, watching the snake loop about her like a protective cocoon. Then his eyes turned to Lot. He wasn't afraid... He'd seen his kind do worse... the question was, how much worse had been done to Vicky?

" You have something that's not yours. I'll leave when it does."

Lot didn't break eye contact for a long second, but when he did it was with the most sickening smile.

"Funny how the hero itemizes." He stepped over to the girl, ignoring the tears. He had to. After all, the man was in no condition to really deal with that. It took actual thought to keep his motions smooth as he lifted Ilford off and onto his own shoulders.

"I tell you what. 'It'," his voice intoned with mockery of Kyle's word choice, "is free to leave. I won't lift a finger, but neither will you."

Victoria looked up as Ilford moved, watching the small ( well, not so small) pet be taken from her. He cared... How dare he take what. That was one of two things she knew cared about her, for her, and the other one was Tiki... and he just ook half of it away from her. Victoria wasn't too thrilled about that as she looked up at the two men... something finally hit her as she considered Kyle.

" You think of me as property too."

she said softly, the hurt clear in her voice as she looked like she might bolt from them both... she figured she'd prefer to be eaten by wolves at the rate things were going... then at least it'd all be over.

Kyle looked over Victoria, shaking his head.

" No. He's literally a monster Vicky, he'll end up draining you of more then your will power if your not careful. Just leave now, and you can get rid of that abomination, and live your own life again."

Victoria looked him over, not sure who to trust, speaking slowly.

" It's not an abomination."

Okay, so out of everything she could have picked to respond to....

Looking from him, tears still pouring everywhere, she waned to die... After a long while, she looked up at Lot, then back to Kyle.

" Either of you will kill it though, so it doesn't matter. He doesn't have the patients.... even if he lets me carry it, he'll kill it the first night I can't get it silenced fast enough..."

Victoria started to cry a bit more.

" And you'll drug me, as you have before, to ensure what you wish happens..."

Talk about tearing the last hope from a poor girl away, this was doing it.... take her last outside friend who she thought cared about her...

Lot stepped back a pace now, eyebrows raised just slightly. He actually didn't say anything. That was almost an improvement. That meant he wasn't lying and denying everything that this stranger said. However, once you considered that he was biting at the corner of the inside of his lip (something he had learned to be inconspicuous about over the years) and that he was having to focus very hard to understand the words being spoken, it wasn't quite so impressive.

The man averted his eyes and then actually turned, not getting involved. Instead he walked back around to the one shut door, locking it. It seemed like he would be true to his word.

Victoria looked up at Kyle, and then watched as master and snake left, feeling more alone then ever, standing on very shaky legs as she walked past Kyle, and simply outside. Where, she wasn't sure, but it was somewhere clearly on the property.. It was merely to cry on her own... to realize she was carrying a child she could never have, because either man would steal it from her... not to mention, she'd be miserable with either choice.... it was pretty much a moment to realize full defeat... to welcome hopelessness, and to attempt to let Victoria go, and become something one of these other two men wanted.

Kyle snarled under his breath as Victoria disappeared, letting her go, but his eyes flashed as Lot turned from him.

" Why do this to a woman you eventually planned on killing anyway?"

He knew the man heard him, he didn't care how obvious he was being now. they both knew the other wasn't human. You couldn't really miss the lack of heartbeat.

Lot's tone fell into that icy tone, the one that could cut through a diamond, nonetheless a bleeding heart. He looked up as the lock clicked.

"I hardly have an inclination to bother with the prying questions of a trespasser." He turned again, and Ilford adjusted his hold on the man, slithering down his leg and to the floor.

"Are you so sure I am trying to kill her?"

" Well, you've certainly done a nice job on her mental state, that's for sure. The dumb girl actually thinks she loves you, and there might be something decent about you. From the stories I've gotten, from her own mouth, she's nearly died twice here. Once by your own bloody doing.

Not to mention if you do let her keep that curse of a kid if she chooses to stay her. That aside, do you even communicate what the burdens of a human mother to a mixed child are? Or even mroe to the point, i get the odd impression she knows you as nothing more then master? How the bloody foresaken hells do you plan on keeping that little secret under tabs if she has the kid? Or let's say you force her to rid herself of it. That will probably destroy her, seeing as she's so attached to it. ....

No matter how you slice it, your killing her one of two ways, so how the dang it are you planning to do it, so at least someone who gives a loli pops can make sure she's not dumped in a dumpster?"

"Do not disrespect me. This is my home, at least have that sort of decency. I am neither so crude nor so sadistic as to defame a corpse." Something about his words seemed to be a dare, seemed to be stating a truth that Lot was just itching for Kyle to try and deny. As Lot's eyes settled on to the impertinent fellow, the look in them was one of someone that was about to rip out your throat. He really might have too. After all, with everything that had happened recently, Lot was really not in his best form. However, he straightened his back and crossed his arms, looking over the other fellow.

"So let me get this straight. The 'best friend' is jealous and is vying to do the very thing he says will destroy the girl. I might as well just shove her into your arms since you're volunteering to do the dirty work." And people wondered why he had such a habit...

" She'll be better once she's not brain washed anymore. "

He responded simply, looking the man over sharply, not caring the threats.

" I find it hard to believe that the little Vicky you took, is honestly in love with something along these lines, or better yet, something along your lines."

He replied smoothly, eyes sharp as he managed to keep the rest of hsis composure.

" At least I give a loli pops about her. i'm not playing mind games with her, and trashing her everytime she starts to get better. or even better yet, I don't make her run around and take what she can get to feel like someone cares about her. She's taking what the hell ever she can get from you in the form of attention right now, and apparently all that is, is being your freak on call action."

Kyle shook his head, recalling his temper back into reign.

" She's a needy girl when it comes to attention and affection. You've turned those needs into a a status where she's so starved, she takes the little tid bits you give her as if they are gold... even a lowly house cat gets more real attention then I've heard of her getting from you."

((now that I remember loli pops is a filter, it makes a little more sense.))

Lot stared at the man. Right now it was literally taking everything in his power not to explode. His irritation and his temper were inflamed so high that one could almost see the words he was thinking pouring out of those bloodshot eyes.

"And yet you find it fitting to stand here and pretend that you have never made a mistake." It was another one of those statements that seemed to say nine times what it really said. The man reached out and grabbed the other front door. He was seriously considering just slamming it in Kyle's face.

A hand ran came to gently rest on Victoria's back.

"Oh no..." The voice belonged to a girl that couldn't have been more than sixteen. She was obviously of Mediterranean blood with her olive-brown skin and dark hair. Perhaps Spanish. Her eyes were so dark a brown that they might as well have been black. The woman's clothing was interesting too. She wore a purple lace dress, presumably strapless, with a corset over the top. There was both a violet choker around her neck and a silver chain that dropped down into her shirt, the pendant out of sight. The most peculiar thing about her, however was the fact that she was was a rather unorthodox pair of gloves. There was a band of fabric that each finger went through and then the gloves fastened around her wrists so that the palms were covered. However, the larger portion of her fingers and the backs of her hands were exposed. On the right one was a blue tattoo with a star and moon looped through a sun.

Lot's head suddenly snapped up and he suddenly shoved past Kyle, his eyes widening as he saw the warm body with Victoria.

"Dammit."

Kyle watched the man shove past him and nearly ripped him in two as his eyes traveled to Victoria. He really could careless who the woman was, however, he had little say in the matter for this exact second, as Lot had stormed off infront of him.

Victoris sat there sobbing, curling back into the little hiding spot she'd formed for herself, not sure who this woman was, or why she was here. For all she cared, she could be after Lot, and she could have him right now.... but only if she took Kyle too. She wanted nothing more to do with men, all they did was hurt you.( Or at least, at this exact moment she wanted nothing to do with them.)

Looking up through her tear streaked face, she coughed and continued to cry a proverbial river as she looked the new comer over, unaware her master was even paying attention to her.

The girl gently pulled the hair out of Victoria's face, moving to cradle the woman's head in her lap.

"You poor woman... I am so sorry... You've been through the mill with these two." The girl looked down into the weepy eyes, pulling out one of those little pocket kleenex packs and giving it to the older woman. "It will be okay. My name is Dessa."

Kyle was now nearing the very least of Lot's problems. The man's fingers were twitching as he continued to curse under his breath. Could this day get any worse? He would almost be willing to let Kyle rip him apart right now.

Victoria looked the woman over, continuing to cry as she wondered if this woman would grant the silent prays and wishes for death she'd been pleading for as she'd been asking for.

However, she merely sobbed on, letting the woman try to console her, in no frame of mind to fight anyone. She wanted peace and she wanted the Lot she'd gotten to enjoy for a small while. One that actually seemed to care a little bit more.

Kyle growled, not really caring about the woman, watching Lot.

" what's wrong, one pet finding out about another a crime?"

So he was still a bit.... testy.

Lot gave a gesture that was both flippant and agitated.

"Bite your tongue. That girl is a crime, but one of nature - not of mine." He ripped his golden eyes away from the two and they settled on Kyle with a steely expression. "That girl will kill you just as soon as you get too close. Keeping that in mind, take a look at what she has in her arms." The man's voice was filled with irritation as he gestured to the weeping woman.

Dessa just sat there with the woman. The teenage girl seemed perfectly unfazed by what she was seeing. In fact, the two angry men seemed to not even be on her radar as she tried to care for the woman.

"What is your name, Miss?"

Kyle stopped in his rant long enough to look over the pair, fists clenching, but this time... This time it wasn't because he wanted to deck Lot.

" She has no clue.."

He growled under his breath as he looked to Lot now. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, the enemy of my enemy is my friend, then enemy of my enemy... He had to mentally repeat the mantra in order to let the following statement slip through her gritted teeth.

" Now what."

Victoria pulled back, looking up at him, everytime she told someone her name, something bad seemed to happen... hence like the slut woman and the sugar bowl.

" ... It's not important."

She said through tears, wiping her face as she looked to Lot, noticing he was being rather oddly still, looking at him funny, even through the tears that refused to stop.
