If Looks Could Kill

" I won't live with it."

Ashleigh replied simply, pulling back from daryyn as the door opened as second later, eyebrow raising as Damian was actually pushed into the room, along with someone else.

" Really now?"

She asked curiously, discovering they were all being poked into the same box, everyone of major consequence was in this room now. But the one that confused her, was not the little girl that was entertaining the other clan leader in the room, but Damian. Why did he keep showing up?

(( Room count, girl, guy, Damian, Ashliegh, Darryn. Skye. ))

((So, we've got three clan leaders in the room - Ashleigh, Damian, and guy? I'm going off this assumption.))

"We really must stop meeting like this."

Damian chuckled towards her.

"I insist. Next time it should be at our leisure."

It really was impossible to tell what he was playing at. Sometimes it seemed like her, but... Maybe he was just a shameless flirt because at other times it didn't seem to be related to either her or Darryn. Yet, no matter if he was gazing of in seeming wait for something else, he oozed that feeling that he would never ignore you.

Darryn, by the way, had taken a step back. The man sat for the time being, crosslegged on the floor.

This time Ashleigh did not, seeming to ignore darryn completely.

" Agreed. I'm getting tired of the politics."

She stated simply, rapping on the door. she was currently being polite to the others, but if they kept pushing buttons...

As the door opened, asheligh insisted she be moved out of this room, and soon found herself, Damian, and Darryn all being moved. It was actually a rather grand room they were stuck in, windows and all.

Ashleigh sighed, glancing down to her formal robes, and then to both men. Giving it a small bit of thought, she moved over to the wardrobe that was present, shuffling through it.

" The question still stands as to why someone as important as you would currently be here."

Ashleigh stated absently, soon changed into something more.. well, normal for what she was expected to wear, not normally her style though. Their was teh obvious reason they could have been pushing her towards him, and they asked him to be here... or he could be interested in more power.....

Brushing her hair back, Ashleigh motioned to the over sized couch, casually offering him a drink. Darryn? currently 'forgotten' in the chair by the door.

Would you care for one?

she asked Damian absently, already making herself one.

Damian smiled and politely shook his head.

No, but thank you for offering.

The man shrugged, casually sitting down.

"Politics. Nothing interesting there to talk about, like you said."

He chuckled then lightly.

"Though I would almost ask why you are here. Sure, this is a friendly sect to yours, but your heart is in Transylvania."

Ashleigh looked at him, grimacing.

" I have always been a sought after commodity."

Ashleigh informed him honestly, Casually sipping the drink in her hands, seeming to be weighing the value Damian had for her. His value varied on how much he was willing to play, judging by the smile, rather willing. However, it was a dance she'd purposely avoided for quite some time, so to just change her mind on that one... Hum....

Your brother is like caviar. Grouse, disgusting even, expensive, and an acquired taste.

she informed Darryn simply, glancing up as she saw the main reason she'd been brought here. The look upon her face was unreadable, but the way she stood said something. Whether it was out-right defiance, or simply a superiority complex, only Ashleigh ( and maybe Darryn) would be ale to guess at. Either way, the man before her actually seemed to shrink the longer she stood there.

it was clear something was being said, but what was a mystery, especially since you could slowly watch Ashleigh switch to full out aggression, soon throwing the new comer across the room. Ouch, that had to hurt >.<

The person picked themselves up after ten minutes or so, and had the hint, leaving without even a second glance.

" .... Politics."

She grumbled, lookign to Darryn, and she seemed slightly more crisp and curt then you'd expect her to be towards Darryn, given how they were together, but she was not in the best mind set.

" Up, Out."

She motioned, Already breaking the door down and leaving herself. Where was she going? She was wondering to the top floor, the roof, actually, soon glaring.

" I'd make it if I jumped and ran."

she commented softly under her breath. She was NOT going to stay here, kill her first. .... She looked to darryn.

" Could you keep up?"

She'd not do it if he couldn't. She'd figure something else out.

Damian had watched her go. It might have seemed surprising, but he didn't follow after her. The man went his own way, just walking casually. He was still serving his own ends. That didn't mean chasing her down... at least not right now. It was funny, though, because he never shared why he was there, what he was doing. But, being who he was, no one really asked.

Something about it was terrible in the way that Darryn responded to her ordering him around. The man's reaction was entirely immediately, that sort of how-high? action. Up and he snapped to his feet, out and he briskly moved that way. Now, he stood half a step behind her, eyes roaming the landscape.

"Whatever you want."

The answer was empty, but he could do it.

Ashleigh sighed.

" You are not that to me... it was either play that front though, or have you killed... ... Did I make the wrong choice?"

she asked simply, glancing back. they were about to leave and be free again.... but was he already re-broken? This life had that effect, but still.

"It doesn't matter to me."

This was the response to the first part of the question, and he didn't give an answer to the second due to the circumstances. Darryn glanced over his shoulder. He could hear someone coming closer. What was her decision?

That was all it took for her to instruct him to go, even as she stayed. they would not go after him as long as they had her.

Watching him disappear, she quick turned about, dealing with those that showed up, keeping everything to herself. And darryn wondered why she was anti-men.

Soon she was down in her own chambers here, even as they charted to escort her back home.

Darryn was not happy. However, for all of Ashleigh's efforts, it should be noted that the man did not make it far at all. Damian caught him without issue. There were some words, a bit of bristling, but then Ashleigh was not the only one taken home.

Skye? The pup was rather persistent to follow after Darryn, and thankfully Damian thought it was amusing that the creature that almost had killed his brother off, insisted on following him. Hence why the cub was still with the man.

Ashleigh sat in her room back home, looking about the place with a clear sense of dislike to the whole situation, hoping that darryn found that Taco Bell in the sky, cause she really doubted he'd be happy anywhere else other then feeding his face, free from oppression. She? She was miserably waiting to become HBIC, wed to this piece of womanizing trash. .... Oh, funny thing, they were trying to set her up with Damian too. Wasn't working for them, not cause of Damian, but her. she was throwing a big enough fit to get her way, so far.

Damian was not upset by this. After all, he had his own agenda and he was well off either way. He didn't HAVE to have Ashleigh.

Darryn went home, and he had no comfort there. He hated this place. He hated everything about it, everything that he was forced to be. It was actually several days later. He was sitting, gazing absently to the side as some random woman was sitting on his lap and going on about something. He didn't even seem to realize that she was there. She was gossiping, really, as she had been one of the people that he used to at least sit around. She was talking about this and that and the other, currently on the topic of heirs - as that was a hot one right now.

"One of these days, that mouth is going to get you into trouble, Gabby."

The girl fell silent to the sound of Damian's voice. She blushed lightly, nervously tucking hair behind her ear as she stood up.

"I'm just saying what people are saying. You know, nothing personal."

"My bloodline is personal to me."

"Sorry, Damian."

He then smiled at her and gestured that she could leave. Darryn had not bothered to get up. The man had moved, however, so that he was leaning forward a little, looking at Skye.

"Can I help you?" Darryn asked his brother.

"Of course. I have a special errand. I thought you might like to run it." Darryn didn't look up. It sounded like a request, but he knew that it wasn't. "I want you to deliver my gift to the Pandora wedding."

Skye bark-growled, even as they were marching off to the wedding.

Ashleigh was wearing a rather morbid wedding dress, but it was still stunning, at the news of a gift being presented though, she raised a brow and granted entrance, especially when she heard where it was from...

Looking over Darryn, their was a clear up and down, taking the gift from Darryn, opening it without her 'darling' bride groom, looking it over, sighing. You know, she was thinking this gift was just to be a larger pain to Darryn, as inside it held an engagement-like, crest ring. Any guesses who's it was? Yep, Damian's. Absently Ashleigh was playing with it.

" You know, I could marry him too. It would get them to leave me alone, two husbands, it'd be done with, and everyone would be happy."

She was currently sulking, actually. She hated what she was to do in three hours. She was free, for only those few hours....

" Sorry i forced you into living when you didn't want it."

she added absently, not looking at Darryn right now.

Darryn was standing there politely. He spoke softly in response.

"I wanted to live."

He looked away to the side.

"Thanks to you, I got to for a little while."

His words held that implication, that thing that said that he was not satisfied with the mere existence he now had. Darryn glanced at the woman.

"I..."

"You there, messenger. What are you doing?"

Darryn turned around.

"Holding counsel with your Queen Apparent."

"Aww, how sweet. I'm sure that you've made enough of a nuisance of yo..."

Crack. Darryn through the guy against the wall, knocking him out. Apparently, there was some vampire in the man that now seemed to be a vacuum. This was okay, too. It wasn't above his station. The man turned to bow to Ashleigh.

"If there is anything else I can do for you, let me know."

ashleigh sighed, moving absently in a motion telling the others to re-shut the doors to allow them to be alone together once more, her eyes wondering Darryn.

" I am sorry I put you in the position I did. I should never have allowed myself.."

She trailed off, the words that were most honest were not ones safe to utter... so...

" To trust."

It was a simple variation of what she thought, but it was clear enough what was meant as she looked over darryn, pointedly placing the ring in his palm.

" Stay for a while?"

she asked him gently.

Darryn nodded, considering the ring in his hand.

"I have been asked to stand in and witness your wedding."

He used the term 'asked' very loosely.

" You'll be standing a long time."

She replied simply. She had no honest intent to allow herself to be wed, she actually knew how she was leaving, but now she looked to Darryn.

" I can get you out, and away, if you like.. then I'll let you be if you want."

Darryn reached over, putting the ring down on the table they were standing next to.

"I don't think I can get out."

He gestured with a sigh. They dragged him back in, kicking and screaming.

"But, good luck..."

Ashleigh looked slightly saddened, slowly slipping off each ring upon her fingers.

" .... Thanks."

she stated softly, vanishing from the room now. They hadn't even thought to keep tabs on her.

Darryn stood there for a moment, just alone. He was just taking a moment to cradle his own poor crushed self. He hated this whole world. He wanted to go back to dreaming. However, after a couple minutes, the man drew himself up, walking out of the room and shutting the doors behind him. The others started to move, but he glanced up.

"She wants to be left alone for a while."

The best part was that it was truth. It just happened to buy her extra time... The man slipped away, no one thinking anything of the messenger who now slipped out into the garden. He squatted down in the quiet, reaching out to pet Skye's head.

"You better find your way back to her. I'm going to die tonight."

Skye barked, and tugged on Darryn, getting him to follow right around the corner, to a sobbing Ashleigh. She started when she noted Darryn, shaking her head.

" Skye..."

She chided gently, looking up at Darryn.

" I won't leave if it will get you killed."

Hell for him, that said something, no?

Darryn was quiet for a moment, just looking at her. Then, the man that she had seen before to be a never-ending smile just gave a soft sigh. He lowered himself to both knees on the ground before her. He reached out, putting one hand on either of her knees where she sat on that bench, the fabric of her dress swathed about him.

"Staying won't help either of us."

Darryn didn't say anything for a while, but then he lifted his eyes so that he could look her full in the face.

"Death is better than what I have right now. Why do you think I risked it the first time?"

" but you ..."

She stopped, looking away.

" I should have let you die then. I am sorry."

She stated simply, reaching over and lightly moving his hands.

" I.... I can not live with the knowledge my actions caused you harm though."

which is why she reached over and took Damian's taunt ring back.

" So I'll go get ready to do this."

She said softly, wiping at her face once before walking back to her chamber.

Darryn stood up slowly.

"You should let yourself off the hook. I'm a nothing..."

But he had to let her go.

Fun fact: Damian was actually milling about inside.

Ashleigh looked at Darryn before she stopped.

You were someone I cared for.

she stated simply, looking rather disheartened as she sighed, shaking her head.

I won't have you killed because of me.

Simple as that. She could kill her groom to be. That wouldn't get her in trouble. No one would care, actually, well.. they'd all expect her to jump straight ...

" God damn it, what are you doing here?"

she asked. THINK of the devil and he shall appear. She currently was thinking of killing Damian. She could do it...

Damian laughed lightly.

"I came to pay my respects, to see a wedding. Courtesy, as well as to make sure that you received my present."

Darryn hurt. It was private, but he hurt.

Ashleigh simmered slightly, sighing to herself. of course. Of course.

" Why send your brother to deliver such a devious ( D-e-v-i-o-u-s) thing, if you intended to make sure I got it anyway?"

she asked simply. The following action was customary only. But as a side note, better then average, but still rather less then anticipated when he was spared the 'normal' thank you kiss, rolling her eyes afterwords. Men, give em an inch.

" I am not so sure you are going to see a wedding. My bridegroom as fallen ill."

Oh, he was missing right now, actually. she was heir and ruler now. So she had arranged him to... vanish.

Twirling the ring absently, she shrugged.

" Perhaps you are, perhaps you aren't. It's about that much of a difference for either of us."

She replied frankly, sighing at the other comment.

" Yes... such a .. pity."

Oh, if anyone bought that.

Damian flashed her that heart-stopping grin.

"You'll have to get back to me then."

He took her hand, kissing the back as he arched an eyebrow, slipping off to somewhere or another.

Ashleigh sighed, watching him vanish. Good. He was gone, looking to Darryn, who was still standing there, simply touching him and vanishing with him. This worked better in some ways, when she was in charge. But they would know the moment she did that. even if they had no clue where she was.

Looking to Darryn, she simply started removing the dress.

" Do you like me or not?"

She needed to know before this went further.

" Hoenstly?"

Darryn had cringed at the whole teleporting thing. He really didn't like that. However, as she spoke to him, the man forced himself to open his eyes and semi-chill.

"Yes."

He didn't hesitate in answering, not even half a second.

Ashleigh considered things for a small moment, leaning over and kissing his cheek.

" Then you'd best stay with me."

It was an offer, nothing more as she woman did a few more 'pops' , knowing Darryn didn't like it, but if she didn't... Well, they would easily follow her here.

Hence why they soon stood in a tiny little place you'd be luck to guess where was.

" They won't come here, even if they figure it out."

They were all determined this place was cursed.

Darryn just nodded now. Then, his eyes roamed the room. Vaguely a couple questions rolled through his head. However, he held his silence, seeming to be waiting on something. Was this the same man that had lived in the castle that little while with you, Ashleigh?

Ashleigh said nothing as she considered what else to do. It was weird to watch the woman walk over to darryn, and even odder still to see such hesitation, and gentle-timidness in the way she removed his shirt. That was all she did, but the way she looked up at him was clear. She still cared.

" You never keep them long anyway."

She purred faintly, kissing his cheek softly.

Darryn's eyes lifted, though he hesitantly let her pull the fabric off. That was one thing that class didn't matter on. When it came to intimacy, you didn't have to. You might be scorned or mocked or ostracized, but you weren't forced to (except under the certain unfortunate circumstance of rape). That was one of the many reasons he was judged so. Darryn didn't sleep with everything on two feet. He breathed slowly, shaking his head.

"It's who I am too that causes problems."

There was a MASSIVE difference between the treatment of an heir apparent and an heir presumptive in their culture. The evidence was plain in the healing wound about Darryn shoulder.
