I Didn't Think It Would Happen Like This

Ansel smirked.

"I've been waiting on what you want to drink? "

[Sushi]

"water is fine."

But when he went to get up, she caught his arm and didn't let him, pouting.

[Tree]

Ansel looked confused, watching her.

".... yes? "

[Sushi]

"I don't want you to leave."

[Tree]

Ansel shifted and leaned to kiss her.

"You literally can't get rid of me now. "

[Sushi]

Willow took the extra kiss before reluctantly letting go of him.

"You haven't gone so far before."

[Tree]

Ansel arched an eyebrow at her.

".... like...... fifteen feet? I'm pretty sure I have?"

[Sushi]

"no," she pouted as she sat up.

"Not since yesterday."

Not since you were bound.

[Tree]

Ansel smiled at her, trying to not laugh. Though he doubted he successfully shielded her from his amusement.

" would you like to come with me? "

[Sushi]

Willow considered it.

"It seems like a waste to make you go if I'm just gonna get it myself."

But she got up and cuddled to his side anyhow.

[Tree]

Ansel smiled to himself, walking to the kitchen and getting her a frosty cup of ice water.

He offered with a smile at her.

[Sushi]

"thank you."

She drank about half of it before wandering around the kitchen a little, looking at all the things within a few feet of him.

It was a modest kitchenette. The fridge wax full sized and stocked, but the stove top was only two burners. There was a microwave oven rather than full on oven. There was a fully stocked wine fridge though? The counter had an abundantly filled fruit bowl of oranges and apples, the fridge was mostly frozen foods, but there was fresh things like milk, cream, and so forth.

" looking for something? "

[Sushi]

Willow shook her head a little even as she closed the little fridge.

"Is this wine or like... Novelty-packaged Ansel food?"

[Tree]

".... wine."

He answered with a chuckle.

[Sushi]

"then that's a lot of wine."

For a few days, anyway. Willow pulled out a bottle to examine it.

"Wine is my second favorite, though."

[Tree]

"First favorite? "

He asked , leaning over to read her choice bottle and grinning.

"Good pick. "

[Sushi]

"a bramble."

Willow tilted the bottle towards him.

"I'd guess so. That looks like actual gold leaf embellishment on the label."

[Tree]

"It is. "

He confirmed.

"Can't read this bottle but That date is old enough it's got to be fabulous. "

[Sushi]

Willow nodded sagely.

"Ah. Allow me to enlighten you. This wine is called 'Wilderberry Juice'. It has a full body with aromatic notes of grape. It's only ever served at remote cabins being rented by the wealthy."

She offered him a tiny smile with that dose of bullshit.

[Tree]

Ansel snickered .

"I think that's the best translation I've ever been given. "

He was still snickering as he grabbed a couple glasses and looked her over.

"Food?"

While they were here?

[Sushi]

Willow handed him the bottle and glanced around.

"This works."

She grabbed a bag of pretzels and an apple.

[Tree]

Ansel nodded and kissed her.

"In that case, I would delight in sharing this wealthy cabin juice with you. "

[Sushi]

Willow smiled and carried her goods back to the bed.

"This might be a heathen pairing," she observed of the food and wine.

[Tree]

"Oh, really now? "

He asked curiously.

[Sushi]

"that's probably really nice wine. Pretzels are salty and unsophisticated."

[Tree]

"Oh that's nonsense. Eat what you wish. "

Says only the peeps who don't actually eat.

[Sushi]

"... I'll give it a try. But I'll quit it if it ruins everything."

[Tree]

Ansel looked at her curiously.

" how would it ruin everything? "

He asked, offering her a glass.

[Sushi]

"salt and wine are a big no-go on combinations. It makes both things taste bad.'

She took it and tried a little sip.

"Wow!"

[Tree]

Ansel grinned.

"Delicious, right? "

[Sushi]

Willow nodded.

"It really is."

She ditched the pretzels without trying it. Deciding the risk wasn't worth it. She just ate the apple instead

[Tree]

Ansel smiled and was taking a picture of the label on his phone and saving it for later. Mission was to find more and get them.

"Not feeling the pretzels? "

[Sushi]

"the wine is too good to risk ruining," she explained.

[Tree]

Ansel leaned over to kiss her.

"I can taste the apple without kissing you. "

He shared in her ear, an entire new delight opened. Willow, you might never be underfed again.

[Sushi]

That gave Willow mixed emotions. On the one hand, she was glad he could experience something he wanted to. On the other, that meant no more languid dessert kisses.

"Do you think you'll know if you like it, or do you think you'll just like the things I like?"

[Tree]

"I'm experiencing it through you. .....I dunno."

He looked over her thoughtfully.

"Hold on. "

He was gone less then ten seconds before holding out a chocolate bar.

"Try it? "

Then kiss. Cause he wanted to experiment.

[Sushi]

Willow opened the wrapper and bit off the corner as bidden. She smiled a bit. That wouldn't ruin the wine.

"The verdict?"

[Tree]

Ansel shook his head.

"I am fairly sure it's based off your preference to taste. "

He leaned down for a second kiss.

"Because I like that much better than how it tasted at first. "

There was also a difference from getting taste relayed versus experience?

[Sushi]

The sad edge faded away. Okay, maybe they could still have a special thing together. Either way, she leaned back against the headboard with the chocolate and wine.

"This chocolate is good too. It's mine now."
