victoria replied openly, rubbing her head. So, she hadn't slept well, and she didn't finish her meal, and she couldn't figure out how to work the kitchen faucet, and she was tired of walking all the way to the one bathroom she trusted.... her's.

Lot heard it. It didn't matter that he was in the next room. And then, just like that - his good mood soured. Then, in a rush he was there behind her, towering his full height.

"Watch your tongue or I will cut it out." His hand shot out, curling around her slender neck as his eyes blazed. "If I am all-knowing, then you know nothing. No basis to pass judgment on me, and less to speak it aloud." Ilford shifted, looking down on the scene from where he was wrapped around Lot.

"I do not appreciate being talked to in that manner."

He repeated himself darkly.

Watching his hands, she made a minor note of how oddly elegant they appeared, before the cool skin was wrapped about her neck. Why are they so cool?

" Alright, master."

Don't call me stupid then.... She thought silently to herself, shifting as much as his grip would allow, eyes locked with his, trying to decide when they ended.

Lot actually stood there for a long time, not releasing her. His fingers twitched as though itching just to tighten, just a little more, just a little less air. In reality, it wasn't just his fingers that wanted it. But still, he had promised himself. He told himself that he would watch his temper, that this one would work out. So really, it was a battle right there in the second floor eastern kitchen.

As he stood there, Ilford slunk down his arm, past his hand and curled around the girl's neck as well. It almost made one wonder if they shared a soul, and that same person would have no qualms understanding why they got along so well. Then lot spoke through gritted teeth.

"Fine." And, if though a bit jerkily, he released the woman.

Looking after Lot, she rubbed her neck lightly before moving to stand once more on the floor, looking about the kitchen, then carefully wondered off down the hall and down the stairs to set outside on the front porch. She hadn't been restricted to this point, to the best of her knowledge. So she looked up at the moon above, trying to figure out why she was running backwards,.... and where she was.... and why he wanted her, .... and what she was going to do...

Lot, however, contacted a couple people and then retired. He wasn't didn't know how much more of this he could take. At least today.

Ilford, meanwhile, had (completely without Lot's help) ended up in Elizabeth's sink with a slight water trickle dripping out of the faucet.

Eventually she wondered to her room, cup in hand, turning on water and filling up cup, then eyes widening slightly as she looked over the huge snake in her sink.

" What are you doing here?"

Ilford cocked his head to the side, the part of his tail that was on the counter (seeing as this sink was a little too small) curled around the faucet lever and adjusted it back to its perfect little trickle. There was no doubt that it was on purpose. Smart snake.

Watching the snake in her sink, Victoria sighed under her breath and slowly moved to touch him, shaking her head.

" I don't get how you guys look slimy and your really smooth."

Sighing, she walked back downstairs and rummaged through the kitchen, deciding what to do about dinner, then she glanced up, noting the open door, letting in the full moon's light, drawing her out of the kitchen, away from food, and outside.

The moonlight bounced from the lake in an alluring manner, the lonely willow tree seeming to be like a dejected figure bent to take of the water. The grass waved gently in the nonexistent breeze. It was strange. Here the crickets did not chorus. There was no softly whispered scuttling from the nocturnal animals.

In that deep bathroom there was the faint trickle of water. Somewhere else a grandfather clock chimed. Other than that everything was silent. Silent as fear. Silent as death.

Even the dull flashes of silver in the water brought no sound.

slowly Victoria ventured to the pool of water, running her feet through the water slowly, looking over to the willow, just out of arm distance, trying to place the silence as she started to get the feeling the grounds should be littered with tombstones.

Tiny little silver fish darted about in the water. The pattern that they swam, the manner of it was stressed and nervous. It seemed that they knew a secret, the secret of the hunted.

Meanwhile, Lot was caught in a light sleep in his room. The matters of below were not concerning to him. At least, nothing had happened to warrant a wake from his slumber.

Without worry about the fishes peculiar behavior, Victoria smiled, glad to have a bit of liberty as she wondered the grounds now, stopping at what appeared to be the edge, uncertain as to what to do, knowing better then to just pass it up, but yet....

Lot was still quite, well, not happily - perhaps... sufficiently asleep. This was well enough, seeing as he didn't seem to bode very well on the nerves of most people. There was just something about him. Distantly through the trees there could be heard the haunting song of the wolves. But it was just that. Distant.

Listening, Victoria eventually wondered back inside to make food once more, only to be started by one Ilford right behind her, causing her to drop the plate in her hand and jump about five feet. Not to mention the glass shattering everywhere and the small screeched that came from her mouth.... or the chastising that followed that.

" Don't SCARE me like that!"

Ilford cocked his head to the side, almost looking innocent as he dropped to the floor, rummaging through the broken plate for whatever food happened to be laying around. Okay, perhaps he was a bit of a glutton.

This however, did wake Lot up. The man lay on his bed, thinking for a minute about just going back to sleep and hoping that Ilford would eat Elizabeth - but then he drug himself out of bed and all but stomped through the mansion. He stopped in the kitchen.

"What are you doing?"

Victoria replied, glancing to her slightly bleeding hand from picking up plate shards. It hadn't really been her fault this time, however, she was planning on making snake soup next if he didn't come to the realization he already had a plate of food make for him on the counter, if he'd just left her alone....

Lot's eyes opened with a bit more awareness as the pupils contracted tight inside of the honey colored irises. He stepped forward slowly, very aware of his exact movement.

"I don't think he would appreciate that." His voice was distant, almost careless as he picked up a paper towel. He took her hand in his own cool one, and, in what was far more gentle than one could expect between a slave and her master, he pressed the towel to the bleeding. His teeth burned and his throat itched, and he was very careful not to make eye contact. Years and years of practice, yet it was still so profound.

Victoria looked up at her master now, only wincing slightly, murmuring a sincere thank you for once, looking to Ilford, pointing with her free hand to the plate on the counter that had his name on it and everything, for some reason not doubting he could read.... as crazy as that sounded.

Ilford watched her almost as though she were a snake charmer. The snake easily alighted the counter top, looking at the plate. It was almost as though he were a kid in a candy store. Food? Like this? For him? It was funny as his jaw unhinged and he began the process of swallowing it - plate and all.

Lot pulled away the cloth after the bleeding had stopped. Only then did he look the girl in the eye, though his body still had yet to have relaxed back to a normal state.

"Be careful about spilling your blood here. This is an old house, and certain misfortunes linger. If you know what I mean."

" I don't really know what you eat.... and I don't know where the pens and paper are to make a grocery list..."

Lot gave a dismissive wave of his hand as he turned to rummage through a small drawer.

"Don't bother with my food. I have a firm belief that no one knows what I like better than me." He pulled out a pathetic little notepad and a pen that he had to fidget with for a good minute before it worked.

"There." Only now did he notice that Ilford was trying to eat the plate.

"What are you doing?!" The snake froze with the plate halfway swallowed and a guilty expression.

Victoria muttered softly, looking him over as she slowly started opening ( and closign) the cabinets looking for sutiable foods, and find what was needed, hesitantly adding a few extra things to the list..... Like deodorant... I mean, come on, no girl wants to stink >.<

As Lot went about the delicate process of removing the dish and leaving the food, he cast a glance at the paper. For half a second he thought about the leftovers from the previous girl, but then he realized that they had probably passed their expiration date.

"Oh good grief. This is ridiculous." He frowned deeply, murmuring in a quick jumbled way.

"Tamponsorpads?" Two things that still made him uncomfortable: women's purses and women's needs.

Victoria explained both soft and awkwardly.

" I mean, I know men hate shopping for those things, but... I doubted you'd be taking me with you."

She pointed out softly, looking off after where Ilford and slithered off to, wondering if her master was about to get mad at her.

Lot just scowled. It was almost worth ordering said items off the internet, and he thoroughly contemplated it for the next minute and a half. However, it came down to the fact that if Elizabeth was going to die, it sure as heck wasn't going to be from some terrorist putting anthrax on tampons and then selling them online. He watched Ilford creep down around the leg of the stool and grumbled under his breath.

"Of course. Wonderful." Lot picked up the snake, somewhat irritated by Elizabeth, not that it was exactly fine. Ilford curled around and around his arm as though playing a game, and the man holding him was peering down at the list.

"Aren't you done yet?" On the bright side he was only irritated.

Polishing it off with her prescription multi-vitamin that she had to have, in order to prevent her from having low bone density, or low iron deficiency, as she was prone to, looking down at the floor, then handed him the list, waiting for something along the lines of she was being crazy..... However, she'd been off those vitamins long enough that she was starting to have problems...

" Yes, sorry master."

She purred softly, moving out of arm reach now, merely for a sub conscious reassurance, as she knew that that wouldn't stop him, unaware that she was now pacing the kitchen floor in small circles.

Lot snatched the list, his eyes running over it in detail. I guess it could be worse. Ugh... When you're rich and powerful, the last of your worries is a simple prescription vitamin.

"Fine." He yawned and popped his neck and began to leave, but before he exited he thought of something else.

"After you're done making yourself sick, fill this out." He leaned over, pulling open a drawer and pulling out a piece of paper to put on the table. The first three things it asked for were full name, birthdate, and social security number. With that, he was gone. Could be sleeping and I am going to buy pretzels for my newest pet.

Even from there it was obvious when Lot left the house. Well... seeing as he wasn't trying to be sneaky and the front door in the west wing had a horrible tendency to groan.

Shortly after he left, a single sound pushed through the pervading silence. It came from the underground levels and it sounded almost as though a room had collapsed upon itself, complete with shattering glass and splintering wood.

Eyes growing, Victoria jumped slightly at the noise, wondering what monster under the bed was going to try and eat her next ( or something like that) as she stared down the hall for a moment before deciding that it wasn't worth her nerves to worry about it, and attempted to stop thinking about it... however, she was failing miserably.

After the original sound there was a continuous scratching, like metal being dragged across stone. It was kind of eerie in the big, silent mansion. It had to bring one to wonder what exactly Lot kept in his mansion. He probably would have shown it to anyone who asked. Except that he was out buying tampons.

Wondering up to her room, getting the feeling she'd like to be in there, with the door locked... hiding under her bed... right now, she darted up the stairs, down the hall, over the dress she wasn't sure how got in the hallway to begin with, and right into her room, door slamming shut behind her, suddenly wishing her master was home. She much preferred to know what was going to kill her.

Around the time that Lot finally got home, it seemed like the source of the sound had stopped, or was at least taking a breather (provided that it even was breathing). The man walked into the house, and the first thing that came to his attention was the overpowering smell of fear. It permeated the entire house in a manner of something that had been very afraid for very long.

"Interesting." He placed the grocery bags down on the countertop in the kitchen and casually made his way upstairs. (Meanwhile, Ilford was slithering into one of the bags.) Lot opened Elizabeth's door.

"Something wrong?" He almost seemed like he was laughing.

Victoria roused when Lot opened the door, crawling from under her bed, it very clear that she had just been sleeping, rubbing her eyes slowly as she tried to gather her thoughts and remember what was going on, she actually appeared greatful to see her master as she shrugged off what happened earlier as ' nothing' and kept going.

Lot raised a brow and just reached into his coat, pulling out one of those huge honking pill bottles. Apparently they had a long shelf life, so he had a bottle with a three-month supply. Oh, and it was kind of like an incentive program to her longevity.

And then it happened: another small crash and the metallic scraping. And then Lot put the pieces together, cracking up into laughter.
