I Didn't Think It Would Happen Like This

Post by Tree »

Looking at Lot questioningly, she slowly crawled out after him, looking about the open plains surrounding them, not sure what to think right now, looking up at her master.

Looking down at her tennie shoes, small little look on her face as she continued to think, not understanding any of this at all. Might as well make the most of this...

As the car pulled away and took off down the road, Lot just watched it go until it disappeared from view. Then he turned to glance at the girl before walking to the other side of the road. Here it was apparent that there actually was a reason to stop.

A tiny path lead off into the woods. The man shifted the pack and began walking, soon disappearing into the trees.

"You're not afraid of the dark, are you?"

Victoria looked to Lot, not questioning the near glowing look his eyes had under the moon light, shaking her head slowly, speaking softly.

" No, Master. I love the dark. It's the things that lurk in the dark that concern me."

Shifting on her feet, she looked about them, seeing no one, and nothing within miles, upon miles, then let her attention wonder back to her master. Running was pointless, she'd simply strand herself in the middle of nowhere, with no apparent sign of where she'd be able to get food. No, she was stuck with him, trusting he hadn't just spent money on her to get some weird kicks off of tormenting and stranding her or something.... As she'd seen that done before, she wasn't too certain as she moved more appropriately to follow him silent and submissively.

At Victoria's response, a smirk shot across Lot's face. In more than one way this was rather amusing to him, but then again, who could blame him? He nodded slightly.

"There are wolves, but they never come around where I live - if that's what you mean." Maybe he was goading her on a little, playing a joke on her even though he was the only on that knew it. The trail seemed to wind on forever through the forest and in some spots it was a bit overgrown. No matter how the path looked, however, Lot knew exactly where he was going. The middle of nowhere.

" Aside from myself, I don't trust much that likes to lurk in the dark with me."

Victoria responded simply, glancing to her master, not taking into consideration that there was no moon light able to get to his eyes to make them glow like they currently were, continuing to follow him. So help me, master or not.. if he gets me killed, I'm coming back to life to kill him.

Eyebrows raising, Lot's golden eyes shooting toward the brunette.

"I'm here too." It was like poking a parrot with a stick, and the irony of the situation was not at all lost on him. He didn't find it hilariously funny, but he did appreciate it in that dull, subconscious way. He stepped off of the path a little way, moving to a dried out river bed. Once upon a time, water had carved its way through the land here. Now, however, it was merely a rut where mud liked to spawn when there had been too much rain. Lot walked across and climbed out of the other side, pausing to look down at the girl.

" I stick with what I said before, master."

She replied softly, following him careful to watch her footing, managing to do it with surprising ease as she soon stood before her master once more, following his lead in the god forgotten land. Not required to trust, simply listen.

Victoria paid conversation no more mind as her feet were starting once more to ache in these pinching little shoes, hoping that the walk wasn't going to be too much longer, eyes on the ground once more, struggling with keeping them there. It's just easier to look at who is addressing you, master or no.

Lot's hand shot out as though to either smack her or grab her by the nape of the neck, but it paused, hovering in midair for a millasecond as though he was thinking better of something. Then, with the pause no more than the blink of an eye, his hand curled around her forearm.

"Stop dawdling." With that he moved forward again, ducking through a smaller break in the thick growth of the wood. It seemed that the little gap would just lead to a further mass of trees and undergrowth, but it was really like a wall. It was like someone had sprayed an overdose of weed killer on the other side, for not a single bit of the wild grew into the expanse where Lot now stood.

The well-kept lawn spread out for a long way, firstly interrupted by a large willow tree and a small lake. Looming beyond that, however, was a massive, well, mansion. It was difficult from where they were standing to tell how many stories it reached into the sky, and heaven only knew how deep it went into the ground. The light brown paint was faded a little and the finish on the shutters was peeling just as you would expect on such an old building. The mansion wasn't the eeriest thing about this, however. There was not a sound anywhere. No animals rustling about. Not even a cricket. It seemed that all life avoided this place.

Reaching over with her free hand, Victoria barely kept herself from prying his hand off her ( or even trying) resulting in her arm dropping rather oddly as she had to nearly jog to keep up.

However, when her eyes fell upon the well kept grounds, then the house, she swallowed slowly as her pace dropped, simply to take in the sights, ears listening for, well, anything.....nothing.

Mouth opening cautiously, Victoria shut it once more as she then took in the Mansion, eyes growing a bit wider as she felt the isolation since in. I really am just his pet, at his mercy.....

Lot finally released her arm, glancing between her and the house a couple times as he approached it. He stepped past the lake, in the shadow of the building before he did anything else at all. There was just something about the way that a first impression held the air. True, it was the first impression of his home, but details, details.

"What do you think?" The man was trying to predict what she would say. Would it be the groveling gushing about its magnificence? Perhaps she would bumble her way along to say nothing coherent? It was an amusing game. He reached out and opened the door, and a surprising fact revealed itself. Lot left his doors unlocked.

Glancing to her master, then the grounds, she looked up at him, choosing her words carefully.

" Serene."

She settled on after a while. It was, isolated, and eerie, of course, she was also all alone out here, but there was a sort of calm about it. What does he have in mind for me..? Victoria wondered as she let her eyes drift up to her master, standing before him.

Lot gazed at her for a minute, considering her answer before proceeding forward.

"Well, then come along." He walked along the hallway, mouth moving about a mile a minute as he pointed in the direction of each room they passed.

Left. "Coat room."

Right. "Foyer."

Left. "Hallway."

Left. "Hallway two."

Right. "Stairwell."

Left. "Sitting room."

Right. "Closet."

Then he turned down the next hall on the right, which turned out to lead almost directly up a flight of stairs.

Right. "Kitchen."

Right. "Dining room."

Left. "Hallway."

Right. "Hallway."

Left. "Formal living room."

Left. "Bathroom."

Right. "Stairs."

And then he turned left and went up again.

Right. "Bathroom."

Left. "Bedroom."

Right. "Bedroom."

Left. "I don't really remember. I never go in there."

He turned down a hallway to the left.

Right. "Empty room."

Left. "Storage room."

Left. "Closet."

Right. "Your bedroom."

He stopped and gestured toward the door at the end of the hallway.

Looking to her room, she looked at her master for a moment, then about the place, head buzzing.

" where's the bathroom again?"

She asked slowly, looking up at him, straight in the face, not caring about the 'eyes downcast' rule, figuring she better know about how he planned on both 'seeing' her, and how he planned on treating her... of course, he did say she had her own room.....

Lot looked at her harshly and pointed back the direction they came from.

"Keep walking that way. Walk past the first hallway still going straight. There is a bathroom in the third room on the right." He rolled his eyes, gesturing offhandedly.

"Or something like that. If you find the music room, you've gone too far. It's a big hall with nothing but instruments inside, before you ask any more stupid questions."

"I'm not dumb, thank you."

She replied simply, turning on her heel to go find the bathroom. I know good and well what a music room is. I'm not some buffoon. What does he think I am? Some inflatable little rubber toy?

Victoria silently fumed as she slammed the door behind herself, proceeding to use the bathroom. Washing and finished, she threw the towel onto the counter, stomping off down one of the halls, not caring right now, rather frustrated.

Lot was not at all pleased, and had to restrain himself from smacking the girl to kingdom come right then and there. That was one thing he was going to work on. His temper. Perhaps if he had been able to control his temper the other girls would have worked... He squelched that thought right then and there. Ridiculous.

Lot had decided not to physically punish her, but that didn't mean he wouldn't punish her. The man slipped away, swift as a fox. And then he began his revenge. Shutting doors and locking them, he had Elizabeth locked into a single, rather empty hallway before she knew it. No way up. No way down. No way out. Except the window. But this was the third story.

Upon the first locked door she paid it no mind, but about the sixth, or mayhaps seventh time, she was starting to get a bit more frustrated. This is crazy.

" What the heck?"

She asked softly, ripping on the last door that was left, looking to the window, pressing her face to it lightly, then started pacing the halls. Victoria had tried many things, but it all resulted in her still being locked in the halls.

Now what do I do?

Looking about in a bit of dispirit, she swallowed slowly.

Lot, however, was not nearly as concerned as she was. In fact, he completely distanced himself from the situation. He made his way deftly through the hallways. After so many years he knew them, or at least 99% of them, on a subconscious level. His house was a little surprising sometimes. There were little servant ways and secret passages and everything one would expect in a creepy old mansion.

The man, having almost entirely forgotten about Elizabeth, made his way past a kitchen on the second floor. Somewhere further the hallway opened up to a huge library on the west side of the house. It was one of two, even though the other was the size of a regular room - more like a study. This one... It stretched floor to ceiling for two stories, naturally having two levels. There were books upon books, and the smell was warm despite the cold glass walls. Lot paced up to the second story and stopped to stand by a little staircase tucked away behind a bookcase. He did not proceed up the staircase to his room, however. He gazed out the window instead.

From here, one could see the lake and willow. They could also see a good portion of the house, including the section with the light. The section where Elizabeth was.

Elizabeth walked to the windows, working the locks once more, this time, she at least got the windows unfastened. Taking in a deep breath, she closed her eyes and reached her arm out the window, she felt around the old lock of the window until she wiggled a small, flat piece of metal free.

Soon she was back from the window and was working on the lock to one of the doors, successfully getting it loose, and opening the door... Just to find another hallway. Great

Lot watched the girl in her endeavors, half amused. Just wait, she would eventually come to a door she didn't want to open. Or even better. They weren't the only living things in the mansion.

On an impulse, the man reached for the latch on a window and slid it open just a crack. It was one of the older ones that slid to the side - the kind that you couldn't really tell when they were open and when they were closed. (At least if you kept them clean. If there was a layer of grime, then obviously no grime meant an open window.)

There, cloaked in darkness, Lot cupped his hands to his mouth and bayed like a wolf. Surprisingly, it was almost like the actual thing. The next, however, was not an imitation at all. Howls rose from the forest, singing with him - a sound that would surely enter the window she had just opened, would permeate the walls.

Swallowing slowly, Victoria shook as she looked about the halls. She wanted to go to bed now. That sounds really nice. Curling up under the blankets, escaping into dreams...

" Not that.... He - why would he tell me the truth?"

What motive would he have to lie, either?

Lot pulled his hands away from his mouth, watching the light flick off. Though he made no more noise, he seemed to have inspired the wolves out in the deep forest. It was surprising how loud they could be. True, they didn't come close to his house, but they were close enough to be convenient.

All animals seemed to avoid him actually. Ever since he had changed it seemed that they abhorred his presence. Well, except for the fish in the tank on the first floor. And of course his two pets. Then he ran. Almost soundlessly he moved through the halls. He climbed out the window and onto the narrow roof underneath it. With agility that would have been surprising for a human, he chased along the edge and climbed in the window Elizabeth had left open, stepping silently into the hallway behind her.

Victoria swallowed once more, turning around, hoping to find something changed, jumping out of her skin as she looked up at the glowing eyes above her.

" Master...."

Biting her lip softly, she looked him over, worrying her lower lip, remaining perfectly still, not saying another word. Somehow she knew this was his doing.... somehow.

His amber colored eyes stared down into hers with an expression of almost laughter.

"You aren't lost are you?" He looked down the hallway, eyes pausing for a moment about the one she had tried to bypass. Lot brushed the too-long hair from his eyes and stood straight, eyes returning to the woman.

" I would just like to go to bed, master."

She said softly, eyes remaining locked with his, watching every single movement of his, not even moving. She'd gotten his point, even if he hadn't been making one, she still got one. A strong one.

"Of course, my dear. Of course. That's completely understandable. Come on then." Lot actually put his hand to her back to guide her gently. It was suddenly as though he had turned to honey. At least that was how it seemed as he guided he to her room, unlocking the doors as if it were nothing out of the ordinary.

" Alright, master."

She purred softly, slowly crawling over to her bed, hiding under the sheets without guilt. Wolves, slave trade, masters. Time for bed.

Lot turned away, smirking to himself. He returned to the library, this time scaling the small staircase.

At the top was a trapdoor that lead to his room. It seemed like it was apart from the rest of the house, a bit more modern. First, the walls and ceiling were made entirely of glass, the one-directional kind. He could see out. He could even wave a flashlight around, but no one would ever see him. Next was a dark, almost black hardwood floor and a huge bed with black silk sheets and quilt. On one far wall was a fair sized dresser holding his clothes. There was only one thing that was blocked from the glass and that was a door to the side that lead to a nice bathroom.

A shower and new clothes later, Lot too climbed into his bed, his pet forgotten for the time being.

Victoria woke early the next night ( due to the constant time changes, she was totally flipped to Lot's schedule), slowly moving to the doorway of her room, looking back and forth, shyly moving down the hall ways , glancing back at her door repeatedly, finding a kitchen within eye shot of her room, soon working on finding food. Something she'd had next to none of in a long time.

In total and complete honesty, sleep had erased Elizabeth entirely from Lot's mind. He had gone through the entire day without remembering the girl. At least, until he walked through one of the kitchens in a pair of dirt-stained pants and a grass-stained shirt with a huge snake wrapped around his waist, over his shoulders, around his neck, and down his left arm.

In fact, he walked all the way through before he realized what he had just seen. Lot had to turn around and come back in, looking at the girl.

"Good evening, Sissy Snoresalot."

Looking the snake over, she looked to her master.

" I don't snore, master."

She purred softly, looking over her master, pulling the food off the stove and serving herself a dish full, considering man and snake.

" why, master?"

She asked, looking the reptile over.

Lot took a couple steps towards her. At least the girl had figured out the food. He leaned forward, placing his left hand on the counter, leaning against the marble lightly.

"Why what?" Lot was actually in a pretty good mood today, at least comparatively. The snake moved along, slithering off of his arm and onto the counter, raising up and testing the air about Elizabeth. Lot's eyes darted to the creature.

"Oh. Ilford." He seemed somewhere between bored with the conversation and enthralled with the inquisitive behavior of his pet.

Looking Lot over, then the snake once more, she considered it, much as it considered her, reaching over and lightly petting it's smooth, cool scales, eyes wondering up to her master once more, looking about the place in consideration before letting words fall from her lips in a rather silent reply.

" I suppose it does fit, master."

She stated simply as she settled down on the counter to eat her meal.

Lot frowned slightly, eyes staring at her for a long time. However, seeing as he was in a relatively good mood, the man didn't make a snide comment. At least not this time. Instead, he wandered over towards the cabinets that were ajar and shut them with sharp snaps. Talk about a pet peeve. ((ehehehe... I'm rackin' em up.))

"Do you have any food allergies?" In the middle of his almost temper tantrum, Lot had noticed that there wasn't any food in them actually. It was just some of the non-perishable odds and ends left over from years ago. Seeing as he didn't eat it...

All the while, Ilford had been sliding Elizabeth's plate slowly along the bar away from her.

Glancing over, Victoria leaned to snatch the plate back from the snake, looking at him with a rather amusing little childish glare, holding her food close to her as she looked up at her master thoughtfully.

" Coconut milk, almonds...."

She replied slowly, not liking revealing such facts, however, she felt as if it might be needed, given the fact he might decide to serve some weird coconut milk almond blend energy drink or something,....

Lot sighed, rolling his eyes. Of course. Coconut milk, though? Who even likes that stuff? True, he didn't eat it anymore, but that didn't meant that he didn't remember what tasted good and what didn't.

"I'll take it that you've never been to Hawaii then, seeing as you're much too plump to have starved." His eyes followed Ilford, who had decided to start snaking his muscular self over the edge of the counter. It was kind of amazing, actually. He was strong, and large enough to where he could have taken himself from the counter onto the girl without falling or even wavering. Lot continued.

"I'll get some more food, but you will have to cook it yourself." The snake, however, was currently hovering directly in front of Elizabeth, right over her plate. And then he let the front of his body down, right on top of her remaining food. Lot's mouth twitched.

"I'm glad to see that he's taken a shine to you."

" I'm not fat."

Victoria snapped before she could stop herself. Two years ago she'd recovered from being nearly anorexic, and here this weirdo was calling her fat. Glaring, openly, she forgot about her master as her eyes fell on the snake that took the last of her food, pouting slightly.

Recovering quickly, not blaming the little guy ( If you could call him little) for being hungry, she petted him gently.

" Next time I'll make some for two, if you want?"

as if the snake can understand me....

Lot's eyes narrowed, the sense of humor lost from his face.

"I never said you were..." He stepped so that he was just behind her and he toyed with the ends of her hair for a moment as though just slightly amused. Then he yanked hard. "...and I do not appreciate being talked to in that manner." Ilford curled away from the girl now, his dark blue-black scales shining as the powerful muscles propelled him across the counter. He must have at least understood his master's displeasure.

Cringing, head falling back into his hand, merely to keep her hair still attached in her head. Eyes locking on Lot, she swallowed slowly as she heard the snake slighter off, hands reaching up to pry her hair a bit looser, eyes never moving from Lot's now, not caring about rules that were beat into her.

" I'm sorry, master."

Spiting her attempt to free herself, Lot tangled his fingers even tighter into her hair, looking down into her face with an expression that seemed to be nothing but and absolute loathing. He said nothing at all as his temper burned slightly in his throat. But then, just all the same, he let her go. No warning, no anything. He swiveled, marching to the other side of the room, picking up Ilford and making his way out the other side (all the while muttering to himself, of course).

"Don't know why I bother. Always the same. Every last one of them. Just going to end up the same. Idiotic, pretty girls." And he was in a good mood today.
