What's Wrong With....? -Suri & Vynz's Origins

Suri seemed beyond satisfied with this answer, and was utterly caught off guard as Vynz knocked her out of the way to catch Rosaline, staring at the pair a moment before returning to her feet.

Looking over the pair on the ground, she happened to get her thoughts organized enough to point and chant a small incantation to watch Rosaline become stationary, and then slowly shrink. Soon she was the size of a key chain character, and being held in Suri's hand. a spell that went right....? That never happened!!!!

" Now what do we do with her?"

she asked, looking over the small figure that was locked in a rather odd position... man she'd have a few sore spots when released.... if released.

Vynz was brushing dirt off his pants, when he was somewhat surprised. His ears now rang out with sound and the people of the town were moving. Vynz stood very still, as though by doing that no one would notice the two very out of place people. Did Rosaline have something to do with it as well? It would make sense... especially if she was too small to do anything now. Vynz spoke slowly and quietly, eying everything carefully

"Make like a tree and leave?"

she replied, easily exiting the town with as few people asking questions as possible... thankfully they were all kind of out-of-it with the ones that did stare at them. Give them a bit of time, and it'd all be a dream to them and it never happened... until a car drove by them again or something... not her problem...

Vynz just sighed as he sat down on a fence post. He scratched at his throat, considering the little figure in Suri's grasp.

"Well, new girl... I wish we could just... Stick her in a jar and mail her to whoever wants my head." Except that she would need something to eat to survive. And the bokor wouldn't know why she had been mailed to him. ...Not that they knew who this bokor was anyhow.

Suri replied, staring at the small thing in her hand, poking her absently with a randomly discovered straight pin. Best part? The woman couldn't fight back.

" Call me ugly will you...."

she muttered under her breath as she poked the person again.

Vynz just sighed slightly, rolling his eyes.

"Are you still on that? I told you. She's vindictive and self-absorbed. Besides, you're not ugly. Ignore her."

Suri's ruffled feathers seemed to calm a bit at hsi words, glancing up.

" fine. but we must do something with her. if I keep her for too long, I'll do something mean with her."

"We mix up some jello and let it set up with her in the middle." Vynz was staring at the little figure, but he was giving a small smile. This was a joke, and one that Suri should appreciate.

Vynz thought for a minute, absently rubbing at that spot on his chest that he had been recently stabbed in. Finally, he just let out a sigh.

"I don't know. We will have to sleep on it. Or at least I will. I need to rest. I imagine you do too."

Vynz rubbed his temples as he sat there, though not due to pain. It was just one of those gestures that he mimicked without thinking about it.

"What do you suggest we do with her, then?"

she replied simply, sighing inwardly as she placed the woman in a corked vial for the time being, and into her pocket.

" that'll have to work for now."

Vynz found himself staring at the pocket.

"Can she breathe?" A dead miniature wouldn't be very useful. He stood up.

Vynz nodded. This time, he climbed into the driver's seat without even asking. However, he had a reason (not that it was important enough to share, after all it barely mattered). If he was sitting in the passenger seat, he probably would have fallen asleep. Thus being why he was driving. It shouldn't be that hard to find a town.

Little Suri had no guilt about falling asleep, as the spell holding his ex in place, was not exactly light upon her immediate resources, let alone her long term resources, as it steadily took from her to keep little rosey locked up.

Vynz did find a town. Well, it was more of an outpost. It didn't have anything but two inns, a grocery store, a gas station, and a handful of houses. He got out of the car and opened the door to Suri's side.

"Am I going to have to risk being struck by lightning today?" Are you sleeping?

There was no question once the door was open, she'd wrapped herself so tight in his jacket as to make one wonder if she was turning into a butterfly or something, lost to a rather pathetic exhaustion.

Vynz paused at the desk of the first little hotel. He paused for a minute before looking back at Suri. He was going to be sleeping, so it probably wouldn't make a difference, but he didn't want to leave her alone with Rosie. Thus...

"One room, please."

"Can I see your marriage certificate?"

"What?"

"Well, she doesn't look like your daughter, so she has to be your wife. We only let immediate family members room together." Vynz stared for a minute. And then he lied through his teeth.

"Please, I'm begging. We don't have one yet. You see, my parents think she's not good enough for me, and hers think that I'm the last sort of influence she needs. But we are madly in love. Don't you feel for us? Don't you want to pity us?" The skinny lady was offering little mumbles as he slowly and subtly compelled her. It wasn't as strong as he normally could, but he just didn't have the energy.

Having acquired the key, he had barely walked through the door to the room before he sunk to the floor beside the bed, out like a light.

Having been tossed upon the mattress, she was still sound asleep as she didn't even uncoil upon the bed, sleeping on, blissfully unaware that they had even left the car.

Vynz slept in that little tiny space on the floor between the bed and the wall.

Early the next morning, there was a great commotion in the hallway. It did not wake Vynz. There was a voice shouting as something (a body presumably) slammed against their door.

"HEY, KEEP YOUR HANDS OFF OF HER!" It was a male voice, if though muffled by space.

Suri startled at the noise, staring at the door. Now she was wide awake, looking about, not sure where she was exactly, moving to poke Vynz.

Vynz did not move an inch, did not stir at all. He was still sleeping.

The commotion continued for a moment, a mixture of voices playing across the air. Then, suddenly, the door splintered off of its hinges, a body flying through it. The man was dressed, well, like a thug. His eyes flew wide, and he scrambled up.

Another young man, one with shaggy green hair walked into the room, tugging on his leather jacket.

"I warned you." It was the same voice as before. At these words, the thug hopped up, and literally jumped out of the window. The young man laughed, turning his voice to Suri.

"Please forgive the intrus..." He stopped as his eyes came to rest on the woman.

"Suri? No way!" He whipped off his glasses.

"Man, the last time I saw you, you were still an apprentice!" He turned his head to the side.

"Leena, come on, meet an my old friend!" A smaller girl with a black pixie cut walked in, looking rather meek.

As Vynz remained sleeping, she looked up at the man that was speaking to her, taking a few moments to recognize him. Lyn. Lyn Becker.

" Where the hell have you been?!?!"

She asked, springing up to look the man over. here is where years played in. She knew the girl to be his little sister, she also knew the boy to have traveled to 'other plains' or, that had been his idea when he'd vanished from class. He was two hundred years here senior.

Lyn clasped her hand, drawing her into a half hug and clapping her back.

"Oh, you know... Here and there," he answered obliquely and with a huge grin. Then, his eyes settled on Vynz, who for the moment was still asleep.

"Keeping stiffs in your pocket now?! My, my, my little Suri got big!"

Suri rolled her eyes.

" Oh, don't give me that. And you know me better then that!!! ... he's my boss... er, ex boss... he's slightly physco and has decided to see if he can get himself offed cause of an ex. You know, same story, different characters."

She stated with a little, teeny, tiny chuckle. Stiff... Honestly...

" Your baby sister is always too quite... She commented, smiling at Rosie and sparing her a sister-like huge and looking over the pair.

" Brawling in public now?"

she prodded, teasing and taunting her old mentor. Oh, the joys in being able to make fun of him right now.

" ... And of course I grew up in your absence."

she added as an after thought.

Lyn laughed, shaking his head.

"Well, someone has to stand up for her honor. You know, fight the good fight and all that."

He was teasing Suri more than Leena.

"Picking on someone smaller than them to make them feel larger than life - same story, different characters."

Leena just shrugged slightly, smiling lightly. There was plenty of reason for her to be quiet. She didn't think that opening her mouth would get her much of anywhere. After all, she wasn't blessed with the Gift like her brother. There was an incredibly long and complicated story as to why she hadn't died yet - but the important point was that it wasn't of her own doing.

The girl just glanced to the side and then stepped backward... only to gasp sharply. Vynz had caught the bottom of her foot, as she had been about to step on him. It was obvious that he had just woke up, as his other hand rubbed at his face to wipe away the sleep.

Suri turned now and bounced over to get Vynz to let go of the girl's foot. he had an insanely strong hold on her, and she was concerned for the girl's well being if he wasn't careful.

" Stop it! They are good... er... guys

"

She purred with a small laugh at the random object tossed at her.

" Well, you were kind of a butt face a while back."

she informed him simply... course, she'd been rather cruel once she'd figured out the basics in training, too.. As for the still living sister? she wasn't bothered by it. After all, it wasn't her business, and she could care less, unless she was being harmed.

" come on, you need to get up anyway, your running out of time."

It was like, the last day before crap started to happen....

Vynz rolled his eyes.

"I wasn't going to hurt her."

And he was up anyhow. The man slowly got up to his feet.

Lyn looked at Vynz for a long moment and then at Suri.

"A vampire? Man, forget me, what hole in the wall have you been living in?"

Leena looked at Vynz at her brother's revelation, eyes widening just slightly. The woman reached over slowly and poked Vynz. The man just sighed. Of course he would wake up to something like this. He gave the smallish female one of those looks and then moved away as Lyn had an idea.

"Hey, why don't you come down and have breakfast with us?"

Suri placed her hands on her hips.

" HEY! I was working in a nice little place, could practice whatever I liked, and wasn't being bothered about it! "

She protested cutely, smiling all of a sudden and pouncing Lyn at the idea of food.

" Sounds wonderful... but I don't think we should eat here... i get the odd feeling they think I'm married to mister creeper over there."

She teased him, frowning. it was actually clear that was not her real philosophy. Oh, Lyn, keep your mouth shut on this one. No need to brign up exes......

"Since when?"

He laughed.

Vynz arched a brow, giving a 'really now?' expression. However, then he brushed it off.

"Breakfast."

That was all he said as he moved to slip from the room. However, when Leena spoke, what she said stopped him in his tracks. The man turned around just to stare at her. Was this girl for real?!

"Are you going to kill someone?"

Vynz just shook his head. Then, the man skulked off. He was going to go eat no matter what they were doing. Yeah, Suri got off easy. Apparently someone was feeling a little anti-social.

Lyn just grinned, motioning.

"Come on, Squirt. Let's grab something to eat."

Leena just blushed over her mistake.

Lyn led the way to a cozy mom-and-pop place.

"I want a fruit salad, pancakes, coffee, and water."

Leena ordered gravy biscuit.
