Hunter's voice was the same to her as it always was.

"You are too cold. You need to come upstairs."

The man was covered in blood from head to toe, and not all of it was Max's. He moved to slide down the wall and sit with a faint grunt as his rear hit the ground. He was attempting to determine if his ankle was fully broken or just fractured.

Mew looked at Max.

"You gonna be alright?"

Max glanced up mid grumble.

" Fucking ass wipe using old school outdated, but faced moves..."

he commented, nodding as he grunted.

" However, walking at this point."

He shrugged and glared. But face ass wipe.

Naomi bit her lip, looking to the kids, slowly, timidly coming up the stiars, eyes turning to him.

" yes?"

she asked, slowly setting the kids down to check over hunter. He hands were shaking with uncertainty.

Mew nodded.

"Alright. You're welcome."

Hunter looked at the shaking hands, and then he reached up, catching them gently.

"Naomi..."

His voice was soft and worried.

"You're shaking."

Looking up at her face then, it was clear there was no malice. Towards her, his eyes were as gentle as ever.

Naomi calmed a bit, and her hands slowly returned to their work of tending him, shaking gone now, eyes turning back to what she was doing.

" Sorry... you were.. intimidating."

Scaring the sh*t out of her.

max sighed.

" thanks."

then.

" sh*t, you left her alone with that numbskull?!?!"

Now, Hunter just watched her.

"...Reflex."

Ouch. Ow. That was the injured ankle, Naomi. That hurt. However, he didn't say anything, didn't flinch.

"It wasn't directed towards you."

Mew looked at Max.

"Hunter wouldn't hurt her."

Naomi shifted and snapped it back into place before she splinted it, glancing over Hunter.

" can I help you?"

she asked gently.

Max rolled his eyes.

" have you seen the state he's kept her in?"

Hunter shook his head slowly, reaching down and undoing the splint. He simply pulled the stabilizing boards out, instead just wrapping the bandage for a brace. He needed to be fully mobile - just in case.

"I'm sorry... Are you alright?"

Mew just shrugged. He was not getting in the middle of this one.

Naomi nodded, looking over Hunter, slowly she slid into his arms, being very careful, tears pouring down her cheeks again as she held to him. She didn't offer anything else, just holding tight to the man who had thoroughly scared her.

Max grunted.

" Spineless jellyfish."

He grumbled, throwing some more snow about, clearly unhappy.

"Nah. I just pick my battles... and I don't pick ones that I can't win."

Hunter embraced her gently, despite his mess.

"I didn't mean to scare you."

He kissed her temple then.

"Naomi..." he began slowly.

"You know, I wouldn't hurt you - especially not like that."

Naomi looked up at Hunter, slowly blinking and thinking things over. It wasn't that she didn't believe him or trust him, it was simply that every time that she did trust them and believe them.... well, she still got the crap beat out of her. Either way, she gave a small timid nod and kissed Hunter on the cheek.

"I know."

"You have nothing to be afraid of in me."

Hunter gave a soft sigh then, shifting slowly.

"Can I get up, you think?"

Naomi shifted, scrambling out Hunter's lap, saying something about sorry as she looked over him. Had she hurt him more? She hadn't meant to. But, she hadn't felt and pain, so it couldn't have been too bad. However, the woman ached from head to toe because of him. She offered her hand to help him up.

"You really shouldn't be walking on that ankle."

Maxe glanced over to Mew. ABsently he shrugged and shook his head.

"If I would have known we were able to play dirty and he was going to be a punk ass b**** - then winning wasn't an issue for either of us."

This left one to question whether he thought he could win or if he thought it was without question and might as well just bend over and let Hunter rip him up the ass.

Mew just shrugged again.

"At least you're alive?"

Hunter just gave a shrug.

"I just want to get it off."

The blood was bothering him.

Max just waved offhandedly as he forced himself up to his feet.

"I'm not worried about me. That good for nothing piece of crap is going to be the death of her."

Coming from the man that bothered her the most, right?

Naomi just nodded, watching him move off to the bathroom as she dealt with the babies.

Mew just shook his head.

"From what I heard, you would have gladly done that too."

He just shoved his hands in his pockets and went to walking back towards the house.

Hunter would rinse off and would pull on just some boxers and a pair of loose sweatpants. Then, upon seeing the bruises, he decided to pull on a loose black t-shirt as well. He would walk and just sit down in the living room... something about him seeming like he was standing guard.

Max stared at after Mew, mumbling something about putting their nose into busines that it didn't belong in. He trudged down the mountain, grumbling that he was having to do this half broken.

Naomi currently had a very large plush blanket laid down in the middle of hte living room floor, all four children sitting there. What was the game of choice? Why, Peek-a-Boo of course.

Hunter just sitting there, watching her and the children. They were amazing. So resilient.

Eventually, Storm would crawl over to his father, clapping his hands together and calling loudly.

"Pa pa pa pa!"

He declared with a screech and a giggle, eyes alike. He was trying to get his father to play patty cake with him. His mother had taught him this song most recently, and he really REALLY wanted to play it. He liked throwing it in hte pan. It was like a big hooray just for him.

Hunter reached down, picking the boy up slowly. He gently clapped his own hands in response to the boy.

Storm giggled with glee, looking over his father. Now he did the little uppy motion. Daddy, pick him up.

Hunter smiled at the little boy, lifting him. He snuggled the little child gently.

"There's my big boy," he praised.

STorm frowned now, clapping at his father's cheeks.

"Da da."

There was something important you said you wanted him to do. What was it?

Hunter instinctively pulled back a little.

"Easy... Dad's got some owwies."

Namely, the cut on his cheek.

Storm growled at his father. If he had ears, they would be laid back now. He poked and prodded at his father.

"Da da..."

Was he not special enough to get to do the special help now?

Hunter looked at the boy.

"What? Use your words..."

Storm looked at his dad and he growled again. This time, his words were very profound.

"Bawls," he declared, very angry and shoving at his father.

Hunter gave a vague frown, mostly because the boy had just shoved his little hand into a particularly tender spot on his torso.

"Storm," Hunter offered pathetically.

"I don't understand."

At this point, Storm would just cry. He'd forgotten! And he didn't have the words to help him remember, and even if he did, he couldn't say them to help him remember.

"What did you tell him?"

It wasn't accusing. It was curious. What were they missing that he was so upset about?

Hunter shook his head.

"I don't know... When? I mean... I don't remember promising him anything. I had him helping earlier, and he was such a good boy, but..."

Oh, Hunter didn't even realize how close he was.

Storm tugged, eyes still pouring tears everywhere.

" What!"

He proclaimed, trying to catch his father's attention as he kept crying, looking to his mama for help.

naomi sighed.

" What was he helping with?"

she asked absently.

And then he remembered. He looked down to the child.

"Are you trying to remind me like I told you to, buddy?"

Storm just nodded this time, the tears falling everywhere as he sat there, wiping at his face.

Naomi smiled.

He's working with rather few words, I wish he'd learn a few more.

She offered absently, still rather proud of her son's efforts.

Aww... Now Hunter felt terrible. He just snuggled the little boy.

You did a good job. I remember now.

Can we get him to stop crying first? Hunter glanced at Naomi.

I'm sure he'll get it. Obviously, he understands them.

Naomi rose with Roselyn, offering the little girl to Hunter, as this is who she'd been reaching for. She looked over Storm, kissing his forehead.

" Come now, your a big boy..."

No more tears. Storm sniffled and wiped at his face, working on the tears stopping thing.. Daddy remembered?

Storm nodded, looking to his brothers on the floor, he wrinkled up his face, mentally tugging on them a moment before both were looking up at him.

" dada."

He declared, poking his daddy in the chest. Then he pointed to his dear mother, jabbing her in the boob, as she was sitting beside him.

Hunter just called Max by his actual name? Ooo, he really must not be happy with the man.
