" I'll leave you to think, I need a moment myself."

she said softly, carefully walking the stairs and out of his room, slipping the blade from sight, and soon walking, directly, into Jethro.

" Um, oh..."

she said softly through the now falling tears, looking up at him.

Ephriam had sat there and watched her go. He had not wanted to let her go, but courtesy had left him to offer. After a bit he climbed on the bench, lifted the lid and keyed out a tune.

Jethro pretty much caught the girl, but he was a little uneasy about what to do.

"Looks like you just came back from Hell... What did he do to you?"

Marina looked at him, for a long moment before shaking her head slowly.

" he doesn't get it. I couldn't hurt him if I had to, to save my life."

she replied simply, looking over Jethro.

" I'm fine. he wouldn't hurt me unless he lost his head, and that's not likely for a little while, anyway."

Jethro looked down at her, raising an eyebrow.

"So... you injured him because you wanted to prove that you couldn't?" He looked her over, guessing that the guy was at least still alive. At least, seeing that she wasn't coated in blood. he really didn't have the faintest what was going on.

with a sigh, she wiped away her tears, trying to let the issue go until she had tim to work it out, looking him over curiously.

" .... can vampires get erections?"

Jethro looked at her skeptically.

"Are you sure you didn't... scratch him or... bite him... or something? I smell him on you." The man eyed her carefully, not seeing any source. And then the question. At that one, his eyebrows shot up high and his face stretched into a grin.

"We're still men. We might not be human, but we are still men." He reached out and tugged her sleeve down a little.

"If you're having issues, try showing a little more cleavage - talking a little dirtier."

She said, pulling back from his reach.

" Thank you very much, It's just, you don't have pulses... and i happen to know how the human body works well, and well... pulses kind of play key parts in erections."

she replied simply, glad he'd let the answer as innocent as it could be, considering.

Talk alittle dirtier... he wouldn't let me even talk lightly soiled before saying it wasn't appropriate.... Making a small face at her thought, she looked at Jethro with on of those ' come on, get real... me have a problem arousing men' kind of looks, and then sighed once more.

Jethro crossed one arm, put the other on top and tapped his chin with his forefinger.

"You would think so, huh? But on the same hand, we do bleed even against gravity. Our bodies don't work quite the same." The man just laughed and shrugged.

"Just be careful, Cupcake. You get a little too heavy and he'll bite ya'." Jethro glanced over the woman one more time.

"And you're sure you didn't... papercut him?"

" He cut himself as a demonstration."

She replied, rolling her eyes, sighing.

" As for the rest... He's bit me once, he's permitted to again. Anyway....... the next question at hand, can you guys get/carry STDs? I would think so, considering the whole blood thing, but still....?"

Jethro's right eyebrow lifted.

"Oh... he cut himself. Stupid man." Jethro adjusted the stained bandages on his arm.

"I would like to point out that it is curious you're having the sex talk with your guy's best friend. But, yes and no. Our bodies kind of act like filters. Just like they heal themselves, they purge too. Take dear ol' Eph. He almost died from the bubonic plague back when he was a human, but you don't see a mark on him now." Jethro just shrugged, picking at a scab on his forefinger. Granted that he healed fast, but this was far worse than the little flesh wounds that Ephriam had suffered in front of the woman. It was going to take a bit.

"And it's not my business if he bites you or not. I just thought I would give you a heads up."

" I can't look him in the face and ask him these questions. It's alot mroe awkward when your actually wanting to act on some of these questions with the person your asking, especially when you know that same person will turn you away. Best not become embarrassed, or hot and bothered, when neither would help me. I simply need answers, your doing alright so far....."

The following question though, was spouted from a bit of insecurity... Something she couldn't control as it rolled out.. it wasn't a doubt of Ephriam's feelings or anything, simply the fact she'd not been around people enough anymore to know.....

" I am attractive, aren't I?"

It was also one you could see her wincing about with one of those 'don't' answer kind of faces as she stood there waiting for Jethro to mock her, or even confirm the small fear in the back of ehr head.

Jethro stopped picking his scab and looked over her.

"Well, let me see..." He held up his hands, closed one eye and squinted at her. His hands in the air followed her silhouette (all without touching) and then he nodded approvingly. Next he boxed in her face. Finally he 'held' her boobs.

"I'd give you an A minus. And I only knocked off points because your hair is a little frazzled and you're frowning." If anyone knew how to give a compliment, it was an old man.

Smiling at him, she actually moved and kissed him softly, hugging him.

"Thank you."

She said softly, nuzzling him as she pulled away from him once more, sighing softly.

" I think ..... I think that ... Wait, since your not human, and you don't need to breath, you guys don't really tire out, do you?"

She asked slowly, more of a mischievous look now in place.

"Now that one you'll have to figure out on your own." He gave her a friendly squeeze and then pinched his nose as something jabbed his arm.

Giggling, pretty much taking his none answer as the answer she searched for, she chuckled to herself.

" Well now..... If only.... Well, anyway...what?"

Thoughts voiced allowed, she looked him over curiously before shrugging and leaving him be, now wondering in search of her lovely little man, finding him where she'd left him, small smile on her face as she smoothly moved to (and kissed) him, looking him over.

" I won't use it.. But if I ever need to, I'll try as best I can to make myself... but I don't see that working out.... On a lighter side of things...."

She giggled and looked him over.

" I'm thinking that your going to loose a few battles with me at soem point."

Jethro just watched her go, duly confused.

Ephriam tilted his head back for the woman, but he didn't really pause in the middle of his song. His fingers kept moving along the keys, notes trickling out.

"I find that surrendering is an already commonplace option. You know my name, do you not?"

Ephriam looked at her, completely stopped in his tracks.

"...Yes." He paused, trying to figure out how to phrase this. Somehow 'but not with you' seemed a little rude.

"Not with a human, though." He sat up, trying not to be too awkward about it.

She said simply, standing slowly, looking down at him a moment.

Ephriam sat there for a few seconds before standing up, neither pursuing the previous topic nor trying to particularly redeem himself. He was starting to notice that he possessed a unique dampening ability. The man stood up, still wearing his wrinkled shirt and all, and took her hand.

"Gladly."

Marina took his hand gently, mind turning with thoughts, a million of them a second, and the breathing reflected how the thoughts went, sharp and hard, then soft and nearly nonexistent, even her hold on his hand pulsing on and off with the breathing.

Ephriam moved with her, simply accepting things as they were. Occasionally he would turn his green eyes to rest on the blonde. Overall though, he didn't point anything out. he didn't ask any questions. It wasn't as though she were cutting circulation off to his hand or anything, after all...

After a very very... well, so long she was walking him back into the house to avoid the sunlight, long while, she simply muttered a one word answer.

" Impossible."

That was the solution to whatever was bothering her as she released his hand and yawned slightly.

" I think I'll get some rest."

So it was merely an easy out, and normally she'd bring him with her... but... not this time.

Ephriam opened his mouth, then shut it again before actually speaking.

"Pleasant dreams." He lingered by her door for moment, shifting his weight. His last goodnight was much softer.

"I apologize." And then he was gone, not wanting a response to that one.

Marina turned, a bit sharper then normal, watching him, before catching his arm as he left.

" It's not something that should matter. Any of what was bothering me. I should be more willing to understand your side... your just asking a little girl who's been able to earn, work, or be given everything her heart's desired... to realize this world won't always do that for her. It's not easy... I need to adjust."

Have you ever tried to pour out half-frozen, soured milk? That what kind of like what happened to Ephriam. He had mostly wisped away as her hand closed on his arm. He could have continued, but then there was the option of his matter versus hers and then she obviously needed something... So he half broke apart, that part stretching away from the others. The part that remained whole was suddenly very heavy and didn't want to move at all. Then, there was a sort of rubber band effect and both parts slammed together, resulting in Ephriam crashing to the floor. He was very disoriented and slightly pained, but the worst part was having to fight the almost overwhelming urge to vomit.

"It... does... matter." He didn't look up at her from his position on the floor, scrunching his eyes shut. He was determined not to throw up.

Watching him, she felt bad. Very bad. For more then one reason, for about twenty, at this precise moment, however, the biggest reason would be....him. she was doing more to him.

" You've given me everything else since coming here... and before that I earned and worked for everything. Things are now out of those categories. ... Let me cope with that so I can move on."

Ephriam just shook his head, but as he stood up he found that he was extremely disinclined to even open his mouth. However, he then nodded and ambled off rather promptly. He needed to find a bathroom... or a bucket.
