Vynz walked along, looking at the signs on the buildings as they searched.



"Just because I'm curious, care to elaborate on that one?"

Suri glanced over, shrugging.



" Souls believe it or not, factor into a person's spell. Other people's souls can factor into certain spells, or my spells can show me their history. Some of the spells I have upon myself result in showing me everyone's history..... I blocked the history's I'm use to seeing, but these are so different, so i don't have most of them blocked, and it's overwhelming to see."

Vynz pressed his lips together tersely for a minute.



"Next time I ask a stupid question like that, just kick me."

Suri smiled and shrugged.



" Not stupid, just ill informed."

Vynz sighed now.



"What the hell is a vampire 'supposed' to look like anyhow?!"

suri glanced over, smirking.

"A short guy whose girlfriend spilled her eye makeup on?" Vynz's look was flat.



"I guess that's better than the whole Dracula, I vant to suck your blood! type." But not by much.

Vynz didn't even glance up. After all, it wasn't like he hadn't figured out that he was good looking... for that matte,r it was like she was the first one to tell him that he was.



"Either that, or they are all like, 'oooo, vampire... teeth!' and they are all like 'bite me!'. Why would you want someone to sink their teeth into your skin?! It hurts!" She had a special talent for pulling this pet peeve out of him.

" i've been bitten, before he regretted it anyway, however, it wasn't pleasant when he snuck up on me in an alleyway.... i hate allies."

"I tried not to hurt you." He offered it as a sort of apology, actually.



"And I happen to be a fan of alleys."

" I merely hate them because half the current vampires think they are full of morons. I'm sorry, but biting me isn't too smart without written permission, which you had, and no, you didn't hurt me, but he nearly broke my neck!!!!... he deserved the venom he got."

Vynz rolled his eyes.



"You're telling me? There's so many newbies that lurk around thinking they run the place..." He growled.



"Why would you even bite someone that hard? It's not like you're trying to shove a cheezit into a concrete wall. It's more like trying to shove an icepick into jello. Frickin idiot. Hope he snapped off a tooth."

" the venom melts teeth, and if you get enough into your blood stream, it desolves your veins and arteries from the inside out... He just lost his teeth."

Vynz grinned triumphantly.



"YES! PERFECT!" He actually held up a hand for her to high-five.

Suri laughed openly at him as she casually high-fived him, thinking him crazy and shook her head.

Vynz raised his hands, thinking that she was admonishing him.



"It was only once! And I said I was sorry! I was doing good to form coherent thoughts!"

Suri shook her head, looking to Vynz, rolling her eyes as she moved to cause him to half-trip, flicking his ear.



" I tagged along half across the globe to ensure you'd be alive to torment, I wasn't cross. Merely informing."

Vynz really didn't like that. For at least a block after that, he was rubbing his ear. They got to the end of the street before he spoke.



"Do you have any idea how annoying that is? It's like something echoing over and over in my ear, like a strike on a metal bar."

Suri glanced over and flushed lightly, shaking her head.

Vynz was actually kind of surprised by her reaction. He had been under the assumption that she had known exactly what she was doing. After all, she seemed to like to try to educate HIM about vampires.



"You're forgiven... this time." He smirked and shook his head, looking up.

Smiling, she nodded slowly, looking over the sign.

she purred with a smile, soon inside, scanning and googling, letting Vynz read the translation... after all, it might be personal.

Suri looked at him, then decided she'd best read the screen, as the letter was beyond her, looking to vynz after a moment.



" Seriously, like... for real? That's like an egotistical school girl..."

Vynz just looked at her with a flat expression.



"That was more flattering than the words in my mind." However, he picked up that other box and set it up on the counter. He reached in and pulled out the contents: a locket about the size of a silver dollar on a delicate chain.



"Another thing I don't understand: why women are so possessed by sparkly gaudy things. I think this is rather ugly."

She replied, slightly irritated.



" now what are we gonna do with her toss outs and hate love letter?"

Vynz shrugged, fiddling with the thing. For some reason, despite all of his strength and coordination, the clasp wouldn't come undone.



"I was going to toss them." Fiddle. Fiddle.



"This won't open." Not that it was his fault, actually.

Suri looked at him flatly.



" Hand it here."



She replied simply, snatching it from him, taking the little pin that held the hing together out, then handing it back... if it was cursed or something, that was on him.

Vynz opened it up, but it actually leapt from his palm to Suri's. He glanced around, hoping that no one had noticed.



"That wasn't weird or anything."

Suri frowned, looked to Vynz, then motioned him to follow, soon back in another alley, glaring at the article, poking it with her wand, knocking it into the ground, glaring at it.

Vynz sighed, watching the thing spin around and around.



"You know, for hating alleys, you sure end up in a lot of them." The thing fell down, the point of the heart directed towards the southeast. He leaned down and playfully flicked the thing again, amazed when it landed in the same position not once, but twice.



"Uh."

" Compass?"





Suri ventured as she placed it in Vynz's hands and her hands in her pockets.

Vynz frowned, looking off in that direction.



"To what?" Ding.



"Oh..." He sighed.



"Road trip?"

Suri made a small face, looking to the stone about her, shaking her head.



" We're gonna have to get something other then my jeep, it's got a time cap on that spell.... 60 hours... time was up."

Vynz laughed softly.



"You have no idea how many times I've been stuck with my thumb out there in the wind." He obviously wasn't concerned.

Suri smirked, shaking her head.



" Certainly we can find something other then bat patrol."



She said absently, thinking.

Vynz rolled his eyes and shook his head with a smile. 'Bat patrol'? Well, it wasn't the worst thing that he had ever been called.



"Did you have something in mind?"

"well, worst case scenario would be rent a car... but..... "



she made a small face, looking about, groaning.
