" I do not think you have the abilities."

Yeah, they were siblings after all. With that her hand snatched Kalan's and they were soon wondering down a rather touchy path, trying not to fall on their faces.

"But you never even let me try! Not one single time!" Yes, Adelle was whining.

Kalan sighed, but that was as much as he did to interfere. He was not stupid.

" Because you'd likely flop at trying, and then we'd never have anything to work with, now would we?"

"It's not like there's only one sucker in the world. You screw up one, you grab another." Adelle glared.

" we'd run out of people in town."

Now she was giving her sister trouble, as she personally had already decided to let her try if it was this important to her.

Adelle was now fuming. The girl was grumbling about trying just once, but now she had given up the fight.

Kalan frowned as it began to drizzle, holding out a hand to watch the drops splash against his skin.

"Overreact much?"

"WHY DO YOU AUTOMATICALLY ASSUME IT IS ALWAYS ME?! SOMETIMES THINGS *DO* HAPPEN ON THEIR OWN!" Adelle snapped at Kalan, who it really didn't bother at all.

" Now that was over reacting."

such a loving sister, however, she clearly wasn't meaning harm as they finally could see lights in the distance.

You could practically see the smoke pouring out of Adelle's ears. She was so peeved that she stomped off a little ahead of the others.

Kalan rolled his eyes.

"Women."

Monica spared Kalan a punch to his arm now, however she'd not looked before swinging and had caught his bad one. She made a slight face at this discovery, but made now real apology, simply kissing the spot she'd punched. she was normally careful enough not to break her toys.

Kalan gritted his teeth, giving her the stinkeye.

"I've been a female. I can say that if I want to." He put a little space between them.

" I must say I don't wish to think too far into that. I do not wish to deal with my lovely turning into a girl should something happen. it would be very depressing."

Kalan sniffed.

"Yeah. It happens so randomly." Come on. If it came down to that, there were probably bigger issues at hand than his gender.

Making the smallest of faces, she sighed.

" Should I point out there is no record of a Siren dying of natural causes, including age?"

She reminded him ever so casually.

" therefore... your going to be female at some point, and I must say it will be upsetting."

Kalan was completely unperturbed. The thought didn't bother him at all, even though it seemed like it should.

"And eventually I will be male again. Such is the cycle of life."

Kalan really didn't see the big deal.

Adelle glared as someone lost control of a barrel they were pushing and it rolled out in front of her, causing her to fall flat on her face.

"My bad! Are you hurt?"

" Of course she's hurt you moron!"

well, there went Adelle's shot at being the grouchy one.

Adelle spoke flatly, fakely even, as she sat there on the ground, her skinned knee currently dangling over the barrel.

"Oh. Woe is me."

The guy was too startled to note the careless words.

"I am so sorry." Take that back. He was more of a kid, actually. Couldn't have been out of his teens yet, judging by the huge pimple on the end of his nose.

" Why don't you just watch where the hell your going?"

Yeah. so she was a bit protective of her sister, even knowing she was fine.

Adelle yanked her arm free from Kalan, who had walked over and set the girl on her feet.

The lad was stammering, trying to explain what happened.

"I almost ran over the neighbor's goose with it, so trying to dodge that it bumped the apple cart, so I had to let go of the barrel to catch the cart, so the barrel just got away from me."

" Little boys shouldn't handle things that are too big for them."

Wow, loaded statement for the win here.

The young fellow immediately looked down, his cheeks rosy with a blush. His answer was a very soft one.

"Yes, Ma'am."

Monica let it go, looking over her sister for herself and walking past the boy now, kalan in tow.

Adelle looked up at the girl beside her.

"It was a freaking grain barrel, Monica. C'mon! Exactly how many people get killed by grain barrels a year?"

Adelle dismissed this flippantly, just mostly because she didn't like being babied. She liked be taken care of, but she didn't like being patronized.

"Boys will be boys."

"Now you know that as well as I do that it is not the mother that makes a boy a man."

Monica chuckled now, smirking to herself, glancing to her sister.

" I was not referring to that, but you have a nice point."

She replied simply.

Adelle's green eyes had little gray flecks in them, something that looked strange when the light hit them just so. This was fully unleashed on a girl who almost splashed Adelle with water (but did not). The girl frowned deeply.

"You're not only fat, you're uncoordinated too? You poor darling." And she walked on.

Kalan was currently trying to decide what mood the two sisters were in. It was hard to tell sometimes.

Monica snickered and tugged her sister along and wondered over to the nearest Inn and checked herself and her sister in. Naturally she was rooming with Kalan in an a joining room, tugging the two upstairs.

" time to shower."

Adelle threw her hands up.

"Thank God!" And just like that, the door was slammed behind her and the water was on. Ooo... this hotel had two little shampoos.

Kalan, meanwhile, had slipped into the room and was now dutifully undressing himself. First came the boots. Then came his handgun from around his ankle. Then his socks. And his shirt. And the pocket knife. And the pants. And the boxers. Tada. Ready for a shower.

Monica smirked and lept. Why not? It's not like she was big enough to do any remote damage to the man. She covered him in brief hot kisses before removing herself and heading towards the shower. they all felt dirty. Just like that, the hot water was on, and she was casually stripping.

Kalan didn't even topple over. He remained standing through the whole ordeal. He flippantly followed the woman, completely at ease.

"I think you have a new freckle."

Monica shrugged.

" the become more predominant in the summer."

Yep, all she had to offer as she pushed the man into the shower casually, reaching to start washing him. Excuse to be playing with his abs for the win. ( Like she'd ever admit she needed an excuse.)

Kalan began to whistle a tune as he lifted his massive hand. that was all he really needed to use to scrub her hair. The size difference was so much that he didn't even have to think about it.

Monica enjoyed the shower, and where it Led to, rather content as they now lounged on the bed in the room, nestled in the covers, glancing up to Kalan.

" So, what are your thoughts on this? the removing humans thing, that is."

"My opinion? Honestly?" Kalan propped himself up on his arm, blinking his piercing eyes. The man looked at her sideways, an odd habit that he had possessed for as long as anyone had known him.

"I don't think it will do much good. They act on the public opinion that condemns us for what we are. Unless we are able to change the horrific image they paint us with, the outcome won't change either." Hey, he was a hired helper, but that didn't mean he was an idiot.

Monica groaned and laid back again, looking back up at those eyes, nodding slowly.

" I see your point. But I also don't see where they are going to understand what they are killing off, unless we do something. Of course, killing them back doesn't really show our good qualities."

"Which is exactly my point. So, unless you want to buy ski masks and pretend we are human..." Kalan trailed off, shrugging.
