Let's Play!

Malykai turned around, holding some generally non-perishable food staples.



"Judging by the expiration dates on these cans, I would say six years." He glanced up at her, just now noticing the change of clothes.



"Hey... Were there any guy clothes?" He looked down at his pants that stunk of rubbing alcohol.

" Yes, there were."



She replied, pointing towards the staircase she'd come from with the woman's clothing.

"Hmm..." And with that Kai went up. When he came back down, he was tightening his own belt in a pair of pants.



"Apparently the man of the household need to lay off the sweet corn." The pants were at least two sizes too big.

" Well, better sweet corn, then cookies."



She laughed, shaking ehr head.

Kai frowned.



"Yeah, then each of us would be walking around in one pantleg apiece." He glanced up at her now, peering at her intently before just going for it. After all, what was there to lose?



"What is your race?" Was that the politically correct way to put that? He didn't know.

" I'm from the Dashima Clan, if that's what your fishing for."



Yep, that told him next to nothing really.

Malykai just sighed and let it go. Obviously someone was a little self-conscious. He didn't understand why. After all, he had easily admitted to her that he was a creep that had pictures of the future float into his head.



"Wrong fish." He walked over and began to shuck some corn, giving up on that.

" Well, I don't favor people trying to kill me when I give the full answer."

Malykai didn't even glance up at her this time.



"Do you have any idea how many times people have tried to get me to committed to a psych ward?" He paused, running the corn under the water.



"Besides, I don't like physical contact. Killing seems a little too hands-on for me."

" I don't mind it, but I don't practice much, after all, I'm not exactly an ancient vampire or something."



she replied simply, sighing inwardly. Why not? they were in the middle of nowhere, what was he going to do to her?

Malykai glanced up at her and then back to his corn. He was trying to decide whether or not that was a threat, but then he let it go. If she decided to kill him that would really suck ((hehehehe...)) but what could he do about it? Nothing.



"Is the garlic thing true?" He began to boil said corn for yummy corn on the cob.

" No. I actually love garlic."



She replied with a small smirk.

Kai nodded.



"So do I. Especially on asparagus. With some butter. Yum..." He offered her a corn on the cob.

" I like garlic pistachio ice cream. It's amazing."



She replied simply, munching the corn.

"I can honestly say that I have NEVER tried it." He looked out the window over the cornfield and paused for a minute, just staring.

" you should."



she replied simply, leaning back in her seat now. what was she gonna do with him? ditch him? What?

Kai suddenly looked back at his corn and the look on his face was one of disgust. As his pupils dilated back to their normal size, he literally and purposefully dropped the food. Then, after a bit of thought, he picked it up and put in the trash, unfinished.

Sighing as she looked to the man, she raised a brow.



" all you do is visions?"

Malykai glanced at her.



"I'm not sure of the question there." He reached over and took the corn out of Ajora's hands without asking. "Actually..." He reconsidered and then gave it back to her. "It probably wouldn't bother you."

Ajora shrugged.



" I'm immune to most anythign food related, but what?"

Kai looked away.



"...Nothing." He turned and proceeded to throw the rest of the corn into the trash.



"You didn't clarify what you were asking me."

" Is all you do visions? "

Malykai just sighed slightly, pressing his palms against his face.



"That was just rearranging the words. What are you fishing for? Can I tell you something about yourself? Probably. Could I tell you the numbers for next week's lottery? Not a chance in hell. Do I have any cool super-spidey powers? Nope. I channel the time stream and I see auras. That's about it." He rubbed his face before shaking his head and looking out the window.



The image of the man (he knew it was the man of this house because images of the past often gifted him with random bits of knowledge like that - the past was much more agreeable than the future) and his wife was still emblazoned across his mind's eye. They both hung upside down on crosses, their blood soaking all of the field in which the corn would grow. As he looked out, he could see that what he had originally assumed to be a fallen tree was actually the rotting and fallen crosses, half hidden by the corn.

Ajora wasn't entirely dumb, he smell of blood, and bodies had coated the field, should she have had a problem with it? Probably, as that meant there was someone or something that had killed them, however, considering what she was, she was only so worried.

It was a long time before Kai said anything to her. But he was the type that figured he just might as well ask. What was the worst that could happen? She say no? Was that even worse that yes?



"Would you like me to accompany you? To avoid the fire?" His face pinched up and the next thought.



"Or were you wanting a reading and hoping that I could pick up a good enough pointer?" Seeing as she hadn't scrammed by this point, she had to want something, right?

" More like you come along to keep from running your mouth. You might be odd, but I rank a bit higher in the eliminate category."



She replied simply, sighing as she looked up to the ceiling.

Malykai frowned. She was being a meanie again. And he didn't do anything!



"Bite me." And then he realized what he said and swirled around so that he would be facing her.



"Not literally!"

Ajora smirked slightly



" I'd love to, but won't. I'm going crazy for a bite, to be honest, but you are a companion, not a meal."

Malykai stared at her for a long moment.



"So if I were to, say, trip and give myself a bloody nose, would you pounce and kill me?" This was an earnest question, actually.

" no, but I'd insist on getting to clean it up. I've been in that place for as long as you have, how do you think a vampire is feeling by now?"



She asked honestly, truthfully trying to convey a point and nothing more.

Kai didn't say anything. He turned around and began to scrub his hands in the sink. He knew better, but he couldn't help but think that there was some bloody residue of the houseowners on them. However, as he stood there and thought, it happened again: that annoying factor that got him into this mess in the first place. His conscience got to him. This woman definitely wasn't his favorite, but he didn't want her to be pained either. He sighed and dried off his hands slowly.



"I could... or you... if you needed... my hand... Well, I need my hand, but... I mean if it wouldn't kill me..." He glanced up at her.



"Do you get what I'm trying to say?" Stupid conscience.

Ajora smiled, shaking her head.



" It's against my principles to drink from pure people."



.....................Did that sentence just come from her?

"Pure people?" It was as though his offer the moment before was completely forgotten. Kai had no idea what she meant.

Ajora made a small face now.



" Well, It's hard to explain, but it's a good thing. you fall into that category."

Kai nodded slowly.



"Alright. But I'm not kidnapping anyone. So you're out of luck." He yawned. Sleeeeeeep. Bed? Couch? He glanced into the next room.

ajora merely nodded and stretched herself out as she stood, wondering to place herself upon the couch int he living room.

Despite being hungry, Kai found a bedroll and contented himself to snoring until the morning. It actually wasn't too bad. He only got two bedbug bites.

As morning rolled around, Ajora was wide awake and ready to continued on as she looked over the man that was sleeping. She thought about yelling, about kicking, about shaking, about poking... nothing sounded nice, she she simply stared until he woke.

Kai woke slowly and then nearly jumped out of his skin.



"Holy snot! That's creepy, Ajora!" He stood up, however, eying her carefully as he stretched.

ajora smirked ever so slightly.



" Well, I could have done something else."



she replied ever so simply.
