Let's Play!

Cael came in.



"Come on. I don't care if you get dressed or not, but come on."



He held out his hand. he was going to pick her up if he had to.

Alyson looked up from her boxer and shirt wearing position on her bed, shaking her head. no, she was fine.... however, since he had his hand out and was close, she pressed his hand to the side of her stomach. they were kicking for the first time, and one of them hard enough to make her tight tummy pop.



Mason's hand was absently moved to the otherside to feel the movement there. see? fine.

Cael picked her up then.



"Alright. You can be stubborn."



But she wasn't particularly heavy, so he could carry her.

Alyson frowned, opening her mouth, her voice almost sounding rusted from the last six weeks of none use.



" cael..."



she shifted, wiggling and getting to her feet, looking up at him.



" what are you wanting?"



he had been busy working, and such, mason had been in and out... she didn't know if it had been their work load or respect, but until about a week and a half ago they had left her alone {aside from to force ehr to eat}

"You're going to the doctor. Ignore me all you like on other things. This is happening, with or without shoes."

Alyson sighed.



" i have eaten when you asked, just as when he did... "



she pointed out, looking over cael



" and you are a doctor."

"I am not an obstetrician. I don't have the equipment to examine you and check on the children... Do you have any idea how many complications can be treated and avoided with prenatal detection?"

" do you have any idea what a doctor will do to me if they discover a child's foot half phased out of me, or see a child on fire?"



she asked him gently, eyes on him.

Cael sighed.



"This doctor is a friend of a friend."

alyson looked at mason a moment and nodded at the question of 'can i come' painted all over the man's face, looking over cael.



" alright."



she wasn't putting on, changing, or doing crap for this though.

Cael walked outside and opened the car door. Once they were in, he drove her to a doctors office that looked just about like any other. The only difference was perhaps in what he said.



"If anything seems odd to either of you when we go in there, try not to look at it, or at the very least, don't stare."

Alyson had no issues not staring, cause after finding what she was, this just didn't register, settling down to wait in mason's lap.

Eventually, she would be called back by a rather pleasant looking lady.

Alyson sighed, heading back with cael and mason, performing the blood pressure, heart rate, pee in a cup, strip to nothing song and dance that all prenatal care wishes of you.



she even tolerated the who looking up her who-ha and the probing fingers with moderate success. however, she didn't handle the eye contact and fingers at the same time and the doctor was reflexively kicked back. not because she wanted to do so, but because she had been raped and it pushed too many buttons.



she watched the doctor stand and the ultrasound machine being turned on to check for sure she was as far a long as alyson claimed because she was only measuring at 15 weeks.



oh, the look cael was shot while she mouthed something along the lines of ' sorry. could have warned me' ... yeah....



on the ultrasound only one was easily showing, but the other was there if you pushed around a bit. they were measuring even smaller then mom, perhaps 12 weeks, but they were just as developed as 30 week old fetuses, so they were about 8 weeks ahead of gestational age but ultra tiny. brilliant. she was suffering from malnutrition due to placenta insufficiency causing them not to get the nutrients they needed.

Cael just shrugged some at her look.



Mason looked concerned.



"Can you do anything about it?"

Alyson sighed as the simple answer was no, and mason got a lesson on what the placenta did, and that her's wasn't working right, and the only thing to remotely help would be getting mom to take some vitamins to help beef up her intake.



Alyson sighed, watching the screen, shifting a bit.



" so are they too tiny to see what they are?"

Mason was looking worried.



"Are they going to be okay?"

" it's hard to tell, honestly i'd have her sit on her butt and feed her . keep her stress low and make sure she's taking her medication still."



one, it should have been out by now anyway, and two, she still hadn't found it... it was accidentally left back in cael and mason's house in the states.



" as for what they are, you'd have to convince the other to not be half invisible..."



Alyson watched the wand on her belly swish around a bit before she caught the man's hand, giving cael a simple 'alone please?' kind of look as the doctor point blank asked mason to step out a second. once both men were removed from the room alyson closed her eyes and let the man hunt down boy or girl for the fathers. he'd let them back in and hand the print outs to each in an envelope as alyson commented on not wanting to know.

Mason was excited. he wanted to see! However... He couldn't interpret it.



"It looks like a blob monster."









Cael was just quiet, as he had been the whole time, waiting.

Alyson was silent when the doctor pointed to the word typed on the paper pointing to the money shot.



" it's a girl"



clear as day.





alyson was silent as she looked up at cael. was he angry with her now? honestly, she didn't know what to think, listening to the man speak a moment more as she took his script for all the extra vitamins. watching mason look like he was about to burst.



" why don't you go out for a moment and get the car brought up?"



she offered, watching him leave and looking at cael.



" what is it?"



she asked him gently.



nothing about her condition could have been prevented with prenatal care, just monitored.

"I thought you said that you didn't want to know."



He offered her help down off of the table.

" not the baby, why are you looking at me like that?"



she asked softly, carefully pulling on her shirt and boxer attire and seeming to hold herself. their smell, these two men were the reason she hadn't offed herself due to how depressed she was.

"I wasn't looking at you any particular way."

" you have been more then normal silent."



Alyson shrugged, looking to the envelope in his hands.



" i hope you get what you hope for."



she imparted on him, walking from the room. She loved him so much, but....





for what it was worth, if he did open it, he'd discover both men got what they wanted. Cael's boy, Mason's girl.

"Just thinking about things."



Cael went with her. He wouldn't open it right now. He might do that later when at home by himself. Right now, he was just going to ride in the back of the car.

Alyson kept to herself in the backseat, knees to chest as they rode, eyes far off.



She looked up, eyes looking over a very happy (if still fretting) Mason.



" I am glad you are happy."



she purred, smiling at him half heartedly. It wasn't until Cael lowered her into her bed she looked up at him.



" I am going to lose my job..."



She swallowed, mind turning...



" i suppose it does not matter"



she looked away from him.

"Why do you think you are going to lose your job?"

" i was told he doesn't want me working until after they are here"

"Doctor's note."

" that isn't going to save a job for a woman who hasn't done one day of work"



she pointed out gently, handing the note to cael.



there was a ps on the bottom in some unknown language to 'get her back on her anti-depressants asap' .

"You would have if it wasn't for their screwup."



Cael glanced across the note with a sigh.

Alyson sighed, handing the script paper to cael.



" perhaps it was my own mistake."







the script had antidepressant refills, and prenatal plus vitamins on it, she didn't read it so she had no clue.

"No. don't think that for a second."



Cael considered this for a moment.



"You going to be okay if I leave you with Mason to go drop this off at the pharmacy?"

" i am fine... besides, i think he has baby fever"

"That is quite possible. I'll be back soon."









Mason would saunter in.



"Alright, I've got this down. Check it out."



He cleared his throat.



"Raise up lights."



Then he grinned.



"See? That's 'razor blades' in Australian."

" why do you need to know how to say razor blades?"

"...I don't need to know how to say 'there's a monkey in the tree' in French either, but I do."

Alyson smiled, settling into her bed some, eyes watching him.



" i didn't expect you to be so happy"

"I'm getting kinda excited. It's difficult to explain. I don't know why, either."

Alyson smiled.



" someone should be"
