Let's Play!

Mason woke first and was currently dropping a tape measure over the edge of the balcony...

" twenty nine feet."





Alyson offered, looking from her spot in the bed.



" watch out though, if you jump it's slick."

"I was just curious. No inclination to jump."



mason shrugged as he reeled the tape measure back in.

Alyson nodded slowly, snuggling into the bedding.



" Come back, please come and snuggle, i'm cooooold."



she whined.

Mason jumped up onto the bed, bouncing over to her.



"I warm you up, 's okay..."



he was smooshing her to his chest, rubbing his cheek on her playfully as he pet her head elaborately.

Alyson giggled and snapped her teeth at him cutely, loving and cooing and touching at him. She would lovingly nestling into the bed, now content to get the slumber she needed being pregnant and all.

Mason just lay there for a while, rummaging absently through the side table.

Sex toys, baby name books, research papers, bank transfer information, and... a scrap book? she had random little pictures (cellphone most likely) and little notes written about the pictures of her, cael, or mason ( or any combination of) . They were her family now, so she had been putting the book together for the littles in her belly.

Mason looked through it all shamelessly, putting it all back when he was done. He would lay there for a while after that. The next time he got bored, he moved on to attempting to give her a hicky on her shoulder.

Alyson shifted, thwacking mason with her hand and wincing.



" you have such a hard head"



she grumbled, waking and attacking his mouth with her's.





" nosy... you didn't even shut the draw.. you better not of stolen the batteries again or i will attack you."

"I didn't steal anything."



Mason pulled back to stick his tongue out at her.



"If I did, i wouldn't have been so obvious about it."

Alyson smiled at him now, blinking a bit, still working to rouse.



" You never told me if you wanted a boy or girl."



she imparted, still having put off getting a doctor. she had cael. she could just go into ER when it was time to have them and call it good.

"I think I would like a girl."



Mason had decided this.

alyson smiled.



" you would be good with either, would you be let down if you don't get it?"

Mason thought about it.



"Maybe a tiny bit," he answered honestly.



"But it'll still be okay."

Alyson nodded, thinking things over.



" we will lose cael eventually... and it will be just us..."



she offered softly, trying not to cry. She was pregnant, you know.



"I do not think i am strong enough to handle raising two children alone."



she offered, just letting Mason know exactly how scared she was this was all going to happen...

"I'm not much, but I'm not a ditcher. I'm not going to up and run."



On second thought.



"Well, and not come back. I might disappear if the cops come around or something..."

" I do not expect anything from either of you, you know... I know what i am."



she promised him softly, wiping at her tears.



" I am just scared."

"It's gonna be fiiiiiiiine."



Mason stuck his tongue out.

Alyson shrugged and moved to climb in the shower, washing and scrubbing at herself now, collapsing in tears. What would she do when they died or left? What about right now? would she even be here without them?

Mason wandered off in search of food. And coffee.

Alyson would remain in her room, opting out of eating, coffee or anything else. She would actually keep her distance until there was a knock on the front door two days later... except she still refused to leave her room, someone else would have to get it.

Cael was the one that answered it. Mason was making his way into her room.



"I made you breakfast! Well... I arranged it on the plate at least!"



Food in the shape of a smiley face.

Alyson looked to mason, smiling a tiny bit, her eyes puffy from the amount of crying she had been doing recently.



"thank you"



she offered









it was just alyson's boss.



" hi. we were just all wondering about miss alyson's health, you know we tried to call but there was no answer and now the phone is out of service or something and we just wanted to make sure she's alright. we had no idea reuben would do something like that, he's been with us for years..."

"We are still in the process of moving. The phones are being transferred. here is my number if you need to get in touch."



Cael handed them one of his business cards.



"I'm afraid she's not doing well at all. That's not something that can just be brushed aside by an 'oops' you know?"

The stout little man about a foot shorter then Cael nodded.



" Absolutely. Please let her know not to worry over work, her jpb is there when and if she is ready to return. of course insurance will cover all her needs otherwise... if we can help her in any manner let us know, for sure. if she would like we are more then happy to cover the attorney's fees."

Cael nodded some.



"I will let her know. Is there anything else I can do for you today?"

" no, ... thank you... er, who are you?"



he had to ask, considering alyson hadn't mentioned moving with people.

"Dr. Cael Aubright."



Cael extended his hand to shake.

" oh. dr, well i see she's already got a good pair of hands tending her then, well good day."



hand shake and off the man would go.





alyson was picking at her food with no interest.

Cael would walk upstairs.



"Your boss dropped by," he began.

alyson sighed. great....



now she just dumped her food into the trash can, one bite eaten and that was all.





' yeah?'

"He just wanted to convey how sorry he is. He wanted you not to worry about work, that everything was ready for when/if you want to come back. Said that the company would cover all of your costs, including attourney.[/i]

Alyson sighed/.



" i dunno."

"About what?"

Alyson just shook her head, reaching out and tugging Cael to the bed with her, stealing him for probably two minutes of clinging cuddles before kissing at him and letting him go.



"I am sorry..."



she breathed, continuing to talk in a barely-there voice.



" I will let you go back to work now."



and she would let him go, continuing to worry and fret.

"its okay. I'm nor doing anything today. Wanna talk about it?"

Alyson moved and kissing him as he sat down on the bed, snuggling to him tight.



" i am afraid of you dying. i do not want you dying."

Cael hugged her.yeah, it had taken him a while to swallow the idea.



"i am not actively dying. If I were dying from my condition, it would be obvious."

" but you made it sound like it is what kills you, shortens your life span..."



She held a bit tighter, trying not to crumble completely... but she was pregnant, in a new life, with new expectations and pretty much new everything.
