she would be covered in enough lead to kill someone in an effort to shield the baby(s) as they confirmed a broken wrist and ordered no diving for at least eight weeks....



" that's my job!"

"Your job should cover it just fine. Injury at the workplace, inflicted by a coworker no less."



The cops were waiting outside the room for when she would allow them in.

alyson would really like to avoid the cops, however since he called them, she couldn't. either way, alyson would recount the conversation, unable to look at anyone as she got to the point where he asked what she had done. then she explained her job had simply been to entertain. she had been a dancer. when pressed for where and what kind of dance she ahd been honest. she hadn't held a hint of shame or worry when explaining she had been a stripper.. it was at this point the co-worker said he needed to see what she was capable of and went to get her. coming at her.





" i broke free and ran."

"You are a very strong lady."



"We understand how hard this must be for you."



The two were incredibly nice and warm towards her, even as they took everything down.



"Anything else you want to add?"

" it was my first day... can someone else call my boss?"



she was incredibly pathetic about that, looking like she might fall apart.

"We can mention it to him when we go by to pick him up. We'll have to have you identify him in a lineup for us, if you don't mind?"

" can my... boyfriend come?"



eh, she didn't know what else to call you, Cael, baby daddy?

"Yes."



They were all very nice about the whole thing.



"Certainly."

alyson seemed to ease a bit now, watching as the doctors were shooing out the cops to get her wrist caste for her.



"lamest woman, ever."



she offered cael pathetically of herself.

"Why would you think that?"

" i drafted you to pretend to be my boyfriend, sorry."



she shouldn't use that term without checking first, but...

"That doesn't make you lame."



Cael shrugged.



"It's fine by me. Mason would have made me your brother if he was here."

" my brother that sleeps with me?"



she asked, puzzled.



" or would he have claimed the boyfriend roll?"



she asked, trying to follow him.

"He would have likely claimed it... or caste himself as something else and left the child to unclaimed donors."

" he's not here."



she rationed now, considering him.



" i don't wanna do this...."



she commented, climbing into cael's arms, kissing him.



" you have work to do. you need to do it to make it so you are here with me the rest of my life and not just a tiny clip."

"I am trying," Cael answered softly.



It wasn't like he had forgotten or something like that. He just sat there, watching as they primed the plaster.

alyson nodded.



" i will go by myself... you need to focus on that."



she offered him softly, kissing him a couple more times before slowly bringing herself to her feet.

"Alyson... It's not magic. It takes time. Even if I started sleeping in a lab, I doubt it would make things suddenly happen overnight."

Alyson sighed.



" i can spare you right now... i won't be able to as much later... besides... you deserve as much time as possible with the child once it is here, so in order to do that, use the time now."

"Alright... Do you want me to call Mason so that you don't have to go alone?"

" i would not bother him."



she replied gently, kissing him. she could be a big girl and go it alone.

Cael shrugged.



"Alright. I won't force you."

alyson would leave with the cops an hour or so later, identifying the man easy enough and taking the kindly offered ride home and then proceeded to hide in her room again.

Cael was at home anyhow, currently napping. He did wake when the door opened, though.



"Hmm?" he muttered sleepily as he poked his head out the door.



"How did it go?"

" something about patrol around my house, hearing soon, have someone with me while i go out, lawyers..."



she was crying and looked a wreck, really. lots of issues to put on her shoulders.

Cael considered her for a long moment before walking into her room. It might have been a violation of her space, but... He climbed into her bed, wrapping an arm around her.



"It's going to be okay."



He yawned. It was sleeping time right now, though.

' the doctor's brother's cousin's son knew me, adn somehow the stories got to the doctor, so he let me be picky on my cast.'



she offered, holding up her highly camouflaged wrist cast. honestly, it looked like a fashionable accessory more then what it truly was.



she just cried into his chest though, falling asleep.

Cael just drifted back off.

alyson was up and down most of the night, completely restless, seeing ghosts in the shadows, so to speak, eventually just leaving her bed and hiding on the balcony, considering how bad jumping would hurt.

Mason would stumble through the bushes, fall into the pool, drag himself out, and crawl in through the back door.

alyson sighed, slowly going down to check over mason.

Mason groaned and then gave a weak laugh.



"Made some new friends."



He had a hack-job of stitches along his collarbone. He noticed her cast.



"Looks like you did too."

' attempted rape on the first day, you?'



she asked him softly.

"Geez. You win, I think."



Mason grimaced.

alyson shook her head.



' it was my fault... now, what happened with you?'

"How is that your fault?"



Mason gave her a scrupulous look as he left a trail of wet clothes all the way to the kitchen where he was now pouring himself a drink.

alyson sighed, leaving him to go on, hiding out in the livingroom now. nevermind.

Mason came back with a glass of sparkling grape juice.



"It's kind of embarrassing, really..."

" oh?"



she asked, looking up as she shifted.



" at least when asked by the doctor you don't forget yourself and say your pregnant with twins when all medical tests show a singleton. man, they thought he hit me in the head and caused brain damage."



he had hurt her, but not so bad as to cause memory lapse... thankfully the sonogram had given up three heart beats and made her look like an all knowing mama being or something xd
