Naomi considered him, smiling at him, moving and kissing him.



" Why scream? It's not like you did gnihtemos overly startling, aside from coming into my home. So how did it change from killing me, to eating and bedding?"



He'd not asked to feed, but he hadn't needed to. She hadn't been mad, and she'd easily have granted it if he would have asked... He'd been the most impressive thing she'd seen since moving. Why let that get away?

Hunter glanced at her for a moment.



"I was going to eat either way, to be completely honest. That was part of the reason that I wanted in. I was hungry."



He looked away again now, casually letting his head rest on top of hers. He considered the other part. This was going to sound crazy, but... Well... It was what it was. He spoke after a pause.



"You were nice to me."



Well, he standards of nice were lower than most people's, but that was beside the point. She hadn't screamed. She hadn't fought him. She hadn't even pestered him like terrified captive or crazed maniac.



"Even with me being an interloper. It puzzled me... it pleased me... and it so it saved your life."



Hunter normally wasn't a very complicated man.

Naomi smiled, moving and kissing him, letting her hands play on his chest for a while.



" You know.. even if you change your mind on that... I would be alright. .... I got to see what it was like to have someone care, to die now, it would not matter."

Hunter shook her head.



"Nah."



He kissed her once.



"I like you."



Well, he thought that was pretty obvious.

Naomi smiled, ever so slightly. There was gnihtemos there she was not sharing, but either way, she nestled down now, seeming to hide against his chest. Kicking pebbles into a pond, watch what the ripples reveal.

Hunter considered her, raising a brow slowly. However, then he smiled and kissed her forehead.



"I want a shower."



He announced this simply.

Naomi nodded and moved from him now, letting him go shower as she took her boots off in her room and casually put them away. Then she climbed up onto her bed with a book, reading away.

Hunter did that and dressed himself. He sat down then in his lounge, considering the stuff. Alright. He could do this. He could make his decision.











Meanwhile, Naomi got her finger pinched.



"NO DOGEARS IN MY BOOKS!"

Naomi sighed, releasing the book. Keep the thing. She didn't care.



This would be why it was set down and left alone now as Naomi glanced over Thimbleton and rolled away. Everything she said to this thing was wrong, so no words seemed like a better idea. She liked Fang better. Smack him and pet him, and she had a friend. Smacking this thing only seemed wise in the sense that it might make her feel better.

Thimbleton was just mad because she was trying to fold down the corner of the page. The small man stood on her knee then.



"How you like how your bed was made, hmm? Still think I too small?"

Naomi smiled at thimbleton, shaking her head.



" Of course not. It was done wonderfully, thank you."



she purred gently, snuggling to hide in the plush covers. too many things now. She opted to pretend to sleep.

"Good."



Thimbleton patted her hand as though she was just another Fang, and then he disappeared. Literally.

Naomi said nothing. The demeaning manner didn't do anything other then will herself to sleep. Escape from her current thoughts. All it really earned her though were nightmares. But she was not the normal nightmaring sort.



She would not toss. She would not turn. She would only wake more harmed in a hidden way, then she had been when she'd gone to sleep. Perhaps this why she didn't move to eat or even get out of bed, just laying there in the pitch black.

Hunter slid in after the sun had set. It was habit if nothing else. He leaned on the edge of her bed.



"What's bothering you?"



He wasn't completely oblivious.

" Just memories. Just the past."



She offered gently, looking over Hunter.



" hi."

Hunter's chin was resting on his folded arms.



"...Do you want to talk about it?"

" How my parents abandon me, how my adoptive father tried to make me give him head? Of how he beat me when i refused? Of how my adoptive mother turned the other cheek? Not really. everyone gets dealt tough cards in life, mine can't be worse then anyone else's. I just fell asleep thinking about things... when that happens I dream about it all... I am fine."





She purred gently from under the blanket she now had covering her from head to toe.

Hunter was quiet for a moment. Then, he spoke gently, letting his fingertips graze across her back through the blanket.



"Don't compare yourself to other people. Just yourself. If gnihtemos is bothering you, then it is bothersome. If gnihtemos pleases you, then it is pleasing. It's worth whatever it is to you, okay?"



Hunter moved now to the other end of the bed by her feet.



"If you don't want to talk, alright. If you change your mind, I'm listening. Until then, come on. I'll show you gnihtemos that helps me feel a little bit better sometimes."

" No.. I don't want to upset Thimbleton."



she stated gently, vowing silently to keep her hands to just her things.

"Thimbleton?"



Hunter shook his head slowly.



"He's not upset. If he was upset, there would be all sorts of havoc about the house, believe me."



He shifted a little around the bed again.



"This isn't even in the house, though... if that makes you feel better at all?"

Naomi moved and pulled on a shirt and shorts, his shirt, actually. The one he'd been wearing the other night, actually, and her own shirts. then she climbed into his arms. Where were they going?

Hunter paused first.



"You know, you don't have to if you don't want to. Right?"

" I know... But I want to be with you, and if it won't be upsetting Thimbleton..."

Hunter nodded slowly.



"Don't worry about Thimbleton. He's just a cranky little guy."



The man intended to carry her off, down the hill. There was a small shed down there. He put her down and ducked into the shed for a moment. When he came back, he was handing her a rifle and ammo. He held a buttload of clay pigeons in his arms.

" What are you intending to make me do with this?"



She asked, absently checking the chamber and glancing back to Hunter. Seriously, hunter holding clay pigeons.... It was dangling right there if she wanted to say gnihtemos.

It was clean and oiled. The only thing that it lacked was ammo. He hadn't handed her a loaded gun. However, she had the stuff for it. He flashed her a grin.



"You're going to obliterate a few of these mangy beasts. Okay?"

Naomi sighed, absently starting to load the rifle, considering him.



" The last time I fired one of these I shot a fireman's balls off."



Literally.

Hunter stared at her for a moment.



"Well... There's no one around for miles and miles."



He shifted a little.



"And I'm going to stand behind you."



The man dropped the pigeons into a pile behind her.



"However, I don't have a launcher, so you'll have to settle for me."

" trust me, having you is anything but settling."



Naomi replied, smiling at him now.

"Alright, alright. 'nuff butt smooching."



Hunter held up one pigeon, pointing that the gun.



"You know how to shoot that, then?"

Naomi smiled, considering him.



" How many shots before a vampire dies?"



She asked him curiously, already raising the rifle. Alright, she could handle this.

"Depends. You have to completely destroy the head or the heart."



Hunter lobbed the first one high. Yes, he did just tell you how to kill him without so much as batting an eyelash.

Kick, shatter, glance over shoulder.



" Oh, but your heart would be foolish to try for, and I like your head."



She teased, glancing back up as the process repeated.

Hunter laughed now.



"Ah, you'd either have to know a secret about me or you'd have to be awful lucky."



He smiled and tossed two at a time now.

" I'm only lucky when it doesn't matter - Otherwise."



Shatter, shatter, smile.



" Otherwise I'm just good. But I'd not even try... It seems pointless. We're built inferiorly."

Hunter made a face as he launched three more.



"Saying things like... Thinking things like that... You won't survive us very long."



He moved a little bit.



"There are things you can do, you know."

Shatter, shatter, shift, adjust, delay, shatter.



" Not really. Look at me. I'm a human, girl. Not a damned thing. Really, I never hoped to survive. I gave up that hope years before I met you. "



She commented, reloading absently right now, not sure how many he intended her to destroy.

Hunter hurled the rest into the air at once.



"Yes. Look at you. You have exceeded your own expectations. Why not others' too?"

Two. Out of the six tossed into the air now, she missed two. Or, she thought she had. she'd taken off the head of the fifth, and the sixth really was missed.



She absently emptied the gun now, checking and cleaning it absently.



" Because there is nothing left to hope for me."



She replied after a bit, offering the cleaned rifle to him.

Hunter looked at her for a long moment.



"I didn't realize that I was a nothing."



He wasn't upset or hurt or anything. The man was pointing this out like one mentions that it's raining. He waved off the offered gun, gesturing towards the shed. Then, he darted through the field, gathering up the remains.
