Ashleigh replied simply, stepping back and giving him a small bit of space.

Darryn moved after a minute, running his hands through his hair.



"So... Where are we?"

" Winchester Manor."



She purred softly, looking over Darryn.

Darryn cringed slightly. Oh, there apparently was some of him in himself. He glanced around.



"Was your mother Sarah?"



Or the medium? Actually, strike that he didn't want to know.



"Never mind."



His eyes roamed the hall.



"You are sure this is safe...er?"

" absolutely. Sarah did not die in these walls, though it was easy enough to let them believe so. Actually, she roamed this mess of a place for only about two years before my... er... I suppose I have to call him father came into the picture. Then they arranged for a look alike to cover all the rest.



This nonsense and mayhem was all planned."



Ashleigh supplied, smiling as she started to wonder the place.



" It is impossible to keep track of one's self in this place though. it really does seem to change where things are every time you go to come somewhere. Very well planned, indeed."



She commented absently, recalling when she'd been in dire need of a restroom as a child, and had none to be found. She'd ended up peeing, on the ceiling. It was still impossible to figure out how she'd done it. She swore that part of the ceiling rotated, and it had been the floor when she'd wet herself... oh well.

"So... I'm going to die. I'm going to walk around a random corner into the sun and just poof - dead."



That was more like Darryn. ^^

" No, they boarded up all the windows and have kept this place off limits for years now. I am surprised that the electricity works, and that it's still got running water... I knew it was clean... kind of kept that way."



She purred, ever clear Ashleigh.

"...Is it boobytrapped too?"

" Just haunted."



She replied.

Darryn just sighed and nodded, turning to face her now. He wasn't looking at her, just standing there. Waiting?

Ashleigh looked him over, and bit her lip once more.



We must stay here a day or so, let things simmer a bit... but.. after that, if you want to leave, you can... If you want to leave with me, you can.

Darryn nodded slowly.



I'm sorry...

She asked gently, starting to wonder down the hall.

Darryn didn't say much else. He watched her walk away, and went to walk in a different direction... only to run straight into a wall that looked like a hall.

Ashleigh paused, looking to Darryn, walking right back to him and pointedly kissing him.



You are worth much more then I have currently endured.

Darryn just looked at her for a moment, almost seeming dumbfounded. But then, slowly, his face lit up. It started as a small glow behind the softening of his eyes. That little flame kindled a wildfire, and next thing you knew his mouth was stretched up into a full grin. Oh, it was like he was a different person.

Ashleigh smiled brightly and stole a kiss, moving to actually snuggle his chest slightly.



" I wanted, if I had to, it to be you. I like you, I care..... Your brother would be a nice bounce buddy, at best."



The 'unkeen' ness was clear about his brother. she really didn't work like that.

There was a darkness that lifted from under the smile now.



"Half brother," Darryn corrected. Now that they were alone, he could say something like that in that tone and live.

Ashleigh nodded, and took his hand, simply leaving the room, pointing to the ceiling absently. Their was that previously mentioned stain. If Darryn looked up though, he would watch the tile flip. Clean now. She was right.

Darryn paused.



"Well, I'm glad that I'm used to having no sense of direction. It would do me no good in here, even if I had one."

" Don't try to break the walls."



ashleigh all of a sudden commented.



" It's not a good idea."

Darryn rolled his eyes



"Well if you can't go under it, over it, or around it... you gotta go through it."

" The walls are lined with UV lights. That are on. It really sucks the kinds of burns you get from those."



Ashleigh casually commented, going up a slide? What?

"That might not have been the smartest architectural move..."



However, he stood at the bottom of the slide, just watching Ashleigh.



"I can't..."



He trailed off.

Ashleigh looked back at Darryn, sliding right back down and going down the other hall.



" this way then... Why can't you walk up a slide?"

"...I have an inner ear injury and a torn rotator cuff. Walking up a slide seems to be asking for trouble."



Darryn admitted this begrudgingly.

" What happened to you?"



Ashleigh asked, already turning to look him over, not pleased at all with this news. Oh, she wanted to go back now and tear Damian apart. She could do it. ... If she found out this was his fault, she likely would.

Darryn watched her as she examined his shoulder.



"You should have seen the other guy."



He tried to joke this way, but it sounded bland and like he was trying too hard.

" I'll kill them."



she grumbled, snuggling him a second as she looked up at him.



" Who?"



She pressed, the actual concern clear, but it was still in the air whether he had a choice on answering.

"Ashleigh, it was just the hierarchy... I bit off more than I could chew."



Darryn just shook his head, looking away even as he gave her the name. A friend of his brother. The man was obviously not enthused to give it to her, but... Well... He hadn't quiet bounced back from his subservience. If you were asked a direct question, you answered.

Ashleigh worried a bit more, but was currently silent.



" I know how it works, I'm at the top of the food chain, member?"



She asked, moving to kiss him, nuzzling him a half second.



" sorry.. I am worried, is all."

Darryn just shook his head, dipping his chin down. He looked away, and his teeth extended. however, one thing had obviously changed. He no longer thought loud, so that motivation behind it was not clear.

we could just get married.... it would make things stop.





she paused.



Or I could kill your brother.

Darryn looked up at her now, quiet however. Was she looking for his opinion, or was she just talking to herself out loud?

Ashleigh looked at Darryn.



" Come on, your with me. I am sorry I... I ..."



she was struggling. If she'd told them they were married, that would have put Darryn in a position he likely didn't want to be in, cause they had been working for several years to push Her onto Damian, and vice versa. It was an attempt neither party cared for, or against originally. Kind of like Switzerland, but now, Ashleigh cared.



Marrying Darryn would not shut people up though, unless Damian was dead. Actually, they would likely expect her to still marry Damian, even though she was married to his brother. Oh, this stupid political mess... ... But what it came down to...



" What do you want? if pigs could fly, and horses could change colors on whim, what would you want of this world? How would you want to live it, and with whom?"

"You."



This first part of the statement was easy and without hesitation. After all, in their delirium, had Darryn not given her a bracelet and told her she would marry him? In that far away world of make-believe, hadn't he made it clear?



Then the man looked away.



"But I don't want you to kill Damian."



Oh, Ashleigh... There was something incredibly dark in this light man's tone. Wasn't that part of what had perplexed and fascinated and entertained you? He had vampire tendencies even though most of him wasn't that way. Remember bringing home a toy with him? Something in his tone conveyed a murderous intent. How much he must trust you to say it that way! He could be killed for something like that. Treason!

Ashleigh smiled then, nodding.



" I can give that much."



even if things grew further complicated, if she was wed to him, it would lock him to her in a way they could only separate with death... and to kill darryn would merely earn her the right to refuse all future husbands. So they wouldn't do that... but it also put him in a slightly challenging spot. His power by himself would be strong enough, unless she wed a clan leader ( Like his brother -_- ) in which case, his power would be bellow that husband's, and her own would be the deciding factor on whether bossy boy ( higher up) won against Darryn... of course that would never be a issue... but... Still, an uncomfortable spot.....

Darryn considered her, then holding out his hand.



"I know you cannot marry me."



In or out, and he understood her politics, and... well... he had been disillusioned. He had been trapped by painful reality.



"But until we lose our safety again, can I stay with you?"



He knew that the second time around at being caught wouldn't be so easy.

Ashleigh seemed to hide something at this, looking him over as she nodded and moved to him. In other words 'until we get caught and your put in that position all over again, I'll be with you.' . Perhaps he was not so different from the others. Just in the reverse mind set. Others wanted to only be seen with her, whilst he hid away, for fear of being seen/caught with her. it was not a nice thought to have, but she hid this from him, resting to his chest. So she was to wed Damian. Wonderfully peachy. Let's face it, that's what would happen in the end.



Well, he'd done a number all of her tiny hopes and reminded her she was now rightful ruler, and had zero hope of ever being happy for longer then the five seconds it took the body to process the height of an orgasm.... if she was ever granted that.

Darryn just looked at her, and he was quiet for a moment. Then, he moved to admit something.



"I haven't slept in two days."



That was hard on he who couldn't bear the sun. However, it was also a plea. Would she let him?
