Darryn looked at her and just sighed.



"You didn't... I didn't..." He began to sulk.



"I quit." And skulked off.

Ashleigh now did look abashed and stared off after her man, feeling half an inch tall.

After about five minutes, Darryn came back. He had a look of purpose on his face.



"Alright. I have the solution." He picked up her hand, quickly tying a bracelet about it.



"You. Are. Going. To. Marry. Me."

ashleigh looked to darryn, eyes seeming to cheer up slightly, moving to kiss the man.



" I like that idea."

"Yay!" That was really all that Darryn had to say. Come on, an amazing and powerful woman of his dreams had just agreed to marry him. What else can you say?

Ashleigh smiled, nuzzling and kissing darryn, perfectly happy as she looked about, watching the clouds.

"So... what're we going to do now?" Wasn't that the question of their lives? Darryn climbed up a tree, plucking an apple to eat.

" well, I'd say get away from tag along, but that won't work, and we have my issues to worry about."

"Which brings me back to: what are we going to do now?" Darryn tossed one down to her, crunching into his own.

" Push him into the sunlight, as well as my ex, and let my uncle fall into a never ending hole?"



so it wouldn't work, but still.

"And then they ran away from the sunrise, living happily ever after?" Darryn smiled faintly. This was absurd, even to him.

" EXACTLY!!!! Minus the sun part, of course "

Darryn gave her a bizarre look.



"Well... I guess... if running into the sunrise makes you happy...."

Ashleigh rolled her eyes, climbing into the tree with darryn.



" I meant, no sun, period."

Darryn grinned.



"Oh! I like that idea." He dropped the core and grabbed another apple. It was a while before he said anything else.



"But seriously?"

ashleigh sighed.



" we're gonna have to face one of the two clans eventually. Your's currently feels more imminent, but that could change..... we best not -"



Ashleigh stopped... If she was caught she'd be forced to marry who they wished..... Who knew what would happen if Darryn was dragged back... maybe they should head back now...

Darryn sighed slightly.



"I don't know. I think yours is more dangerous than mine. Mine likes to ignore me. Or try to rape me." He furrowed his brow.

Darryn raised a brow, looking at her.



"Note the word 'try'."

" Why even try?"

Darryn gave her a flat look.



"You've obviously never been at the bottom of the totem pole."

" Seriously, male rape is not worth the effort..."

Darryn laughed faintly, smiling as he continued to chow the apple.



"Speaking from personal experience?" Of course he was teasing her.

ashleigh winced slightly.



" I wasn't raised with the best influence."

Darryn shrugged and nudged her.



"It happens."

Ashleigh shrugged.



" I was turned when I was young, very young, and all but brain washed into their ways, until I was old enough to go out on my own and see how things worked.... Aside from the clan."

Darryn peered at her carefully, considering her words. Obviously things were a little less lighthearted. However, his response was not to be expected.



"May I see?" He leaned over, carefully taking her hair into his hand.



"Is it at the nape of your neck? Or under your arm?" Normally they chose the back of the hairline for females and the underside of the shoulder joint for males for a turning mark - that perfect semi circle that never faded in scar.

ashleigh made a small face, shaking her head as she held out her wrist to him, pulling her normal watch out of the way, looking up at him.



" I was young and terrified when they did it, it was the only thing they could hold onto without running the risk of killing me."

Darryn took her arm, turning it slowly as he looked it over.



"I wouldn't really expect a child not to be terrified." He let it go after a minute, shrugging.

Looking at him oddly, she felt off all of a sudden, looking to her feet, then the bracelet on her arm, smiling slightly now, moving to kiss darryn.

And just like that, Darryn fell out of the tree.



"Owwwwww..."

ashleigh laughed, unable to help herself, moving to follow him, eyes dancing.

"You know, this stuff never used to happen to me." Darryn eyed her carefully.



"And then you came into the picture."

ashleigh smiled bigger.



" Come on, I'm worth it."

Darryn laughed lightly.



"That remains to be seen!" But, like most things, he wasn't being serious.



"Hey, what happened to pupdog?"

" Skye? he ran off after your brother... he doesn't like him... so I actually think he's stalking him, much as he stalks us, so ultimately he should return."

"Skye just grew on me a little more. You know... I think that I might actually even like him now. Yep. I do."

Dora merely smirked and shook her head at Darryn.



" Dora... dora the explorer... I must be an ancient vampire to have such cruel parents..."



she taunted under her breath now as she watched the birds about in the night.

Darryn laughed now, going along and singing the next Dora song.



"We did it! Yeah, we teamed up!" He poked the girl in the side.
