Darryn considered this one for a moment, already having given up on the food. He was hungry and would eat almost anything, but that was just the point. He would eat ALMOST anything.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. I sure wish someone would have told me about those wolves ahead of time, though."

Darryn grimaced, now staring at his food and wondering if there was such thing as a negative tip. He was going to have to starve AND the service was horrible.

"Still, I think a sign would be more helpful. Something like, 'abandon hope all ye who enter here'. Heck, I would settle for 'beware of dog'."

Darryn shrugged slightly. He didn't say anything to that.

I wonder what dog tasted like. Anything at this point would be better than the citrus flavored paper mixed with foot and smeared on leather: aka. 'lamb'. So depressing...

"You have no idea how much I would like that!" Okay, so he had responded emphatically and verbally to a mental question. The nearby people were giving him weird looks, but he didn't care.

Dinner was nice, and by the time that Darryn was satisfied, the mood had lightened. The man was in fact walking down the street and chatting to Ashleigh about nothing of consequence when it happened. A hand wrapped around the front of his throat from behind and a smooth voice drifted across the air.

"Hello, brother. Long time, no see." The gesture didn't hurt Darryn at all, in fact it was simply a casual gesture of greeting more than common amongst his coven. However, it was bizarre to watch the man. For starters, his chin and eyes dropped and he suddenly had a very subservient posture. Even stranger, though, was that something happened that almost never did: from his eyes to his fingertips, Darryn's smile completely disappeared.

"Damian." The man removed his hand, looking at Ashleigh now. Damien was about the same height as Darryn, and his eyes were that same deep sky blue. But other than that, they were almost incomparable. See, Darryn wasn't bad looking (few vampires were), but Damian was absolutely gorgeous. Where Darryn's hair was brown, Damian's was jet black and his face was shaped in a far more comely way. Damian was built better, more sharply dressed. Not to mention, he oozed allure and power radiated from him.

"Who's your friend?" Darryn looked up at Ashleigh, something about his eyes pleading with her over something imperceptible.

Sharp dark eyes resting upon Darryn, then this new comer, she kept her silence for a good while, uncertain that she should speak. The way darryn changed so suddenly, the lack of life now coming from him...

This was all a very short time span as her mouth turned into a very faint smile as her name rolled from her lips without thought, keeping a very mindfully close eye upon her lover.

" Dora"

She purred casually, direly wanting answers but not asking right now.

Damian flashed a brilliant smile at the woman, holding out his hand for hers.

"I'm Damian. What a pleasure to meet you!" He stepped away from Darryn. It was strange to see the two of them. They were obviously related, obviously both vampires. Darryn didn't talk about his origins, though. But this did at least reveal one thing: he was a born vampire, not a made one.

Damian swept her hand up and bent over, kissing it.

"Thank you, sweet lady." The dark-haired man cooed. Darryn saw this, feeling a tight bitterness welling inside of him, but he said absolutely nothing. Damian turned to face his brother, speaking casually now.

"So, what are you doing here? I mean, out of places I thought I might bump into you, Taiwan was not one of them."

'Dora' explained as she smiled back at Darryn's brother, slowly taking her hand back, blocking the thought that now ventured to Darryn, keeping it 'for his brain only' so to speak.

Damian nodded to her, something about him seeming to say 'yes, I'm a fantastic listener - I will never miss a single word you say'. However, he continued looking at Darryn.

"You know, you've been gone for a long time."

"I know."

"Some of the others were spread poor things of you."

"Like who, Vanessa? Candace? You?" Damian's expression darkened and Darryn actually winced. "I'm sorry. That was out of line."

"You should be more mindful of what you say. But you've been away from familiar company so long, I understand how it can be. It's too bad that it's so close to dawn. We really should catch up, but I guess it will have to wait until tomorrow." He turned to Ashleigh and smiled again. "Hope to see you soon."

Darryn said absolutely nothing as they returned to the hotel. He sat on that bed, staring at the little wolf pup who was now chewing on his shoe. As uncharacteristic as it was, Darryn didn't move to stop him. Apparently Ashleigh was going to need to engage on this one.

As the door shut, she couldn't help her mild temper, words falling from her with a bit of venom that she didn't intend.

" Explain, now. I don't like being put in the middle of another family thing. i at least warned you with mine, what's going on?"

Darryn looked very abashed now.

"I swear I didn't do it on purpose. Besides, it's not a family thing. It's a coven thing. I thought..." He didn't meet her eyes, bristling slightly, which was strange for him.

"I thought you would have figured out that there was something a little different than the norm when you found me in the snow by myself. I haven't seen my clan in over a year. I... Well, pretty much I ran away. They didn't care so much, after all, there are plenty others just like me. But Damian... Damian is my half brother, born two days before me, our father's first-born son, and the head of the coven. Pretty much, he and his mother are in every way possible superior to me and mine." He paused for a minute and then added on an afterthought.

"You would probably like him."

ashleigh sighed now, looking over the man, deciding between two current emotions, or at least the two strongest ones. She was either going to toss him to the bed, just because something about his bad attitude was doing things for her, or she was going to slap him for the added insult.

Something of the middle was chosen.

" I am attracted, and attached to you. clan leadership is NOT my thing. Hello, woman that was living in the middle of nowhere in a castle..... I just ... I don't like surprises sprung on me... Do I need to be concerned?"
