Ajora helped Z get his food, and then her own food, then stared as kai came to the table with 1, 2, 3, 7?!?! plates worth of food, balanced awkwardly upon his arms.

" .............Hungry?"

The man laughed.

"A little bit." He was in the middle of scarfing when he suddenly stopped for all of three seconds to slide her drink four inches to the right. Kai went back to eating until he felt like he was going to burst - not even looking up when the waitress tripped over the child and accidentally dumped a salt shaker all over their table... right where Ajora's drink had been before he moved it.

Malykai nodded slightly, glancing at the clothes he was wearing. They were looking pretty pathetic. And a drink sounded nice. But what were they going to do with the kid? Speaking of that, he looked at the tyke.

She ventured, obviously not serious.

No, i found a play group since you've been sick. He needed other child interaction...They just think he has awesome stories.

Kai smiled brightly. It had taken him a bit to get used to, but now her voice in his head was just as natural as well... all the other voices in his head.

About an Aunt with really interesting talents and an Uncle that knows things that he shouldn't? Malykai stood up, stretching. It was good to be walking around again.

Malykai glanced up at her momentarily. There wasn't really anything he needed to say, right? He looked back to the little hole in his shirt that he was playing with. Oh wait. There was something he should probably bring up.

"Hey, Ajora?"

Ajora froze, looking to him a moment.

" Yes?" she asked, looking at a card the had been slipped to her while eating, with name and number on it.

Kai blinked, startled by her absolute freeze. However, he quickly looked back down at the hole in his shirt and continued anyhow.

Before Kai could even read the card, cold spikes shot up his spine and settled in his temples, but it felt like the air had been sucked straight out of his lungs. The paper fell from his fingers to the floor. Normally he had at bare minimum a vague sense of his actual surroundings while having a vision, but this time it was completely lost to him. This vision was that powerful.

When the man's pupils dilated, Malykai found himself leaning forward against the dashboard, gasping so desperately for air that he wasn't sure he wasn't hyperventilating. His emerald eyes settled on Ajora widely.

"What..." Gasp. "The..." Gasp. "Hell?!" Gasp. Kai did not normally use that word, either. It was generally against his nature.

Malykai was pressing his fist into his stomach as he caught his breath.

"I feel lightheaded. I think that drink is definitely a good idea right about now. Maybe two if you don't mind?"

Ajora nodded as they arrived at the bar, wondering in and setting off in a back booth, ordering three long island ice teas and an open grave.

Kai didn't say anything - instead he had downed a shot of whiskey and had a pint in his hand. The man was staring at the vampire intently, though. It was almost like he was trying to dissect her with his brain. He drank a gulp of beer.

Kai just stared at her for another minute before reaching over and grabbing an apple. (What? Some bars did peanuts - this one did apples.) He held it out to her.

"Bite this. Like... bite it, bite it."

Kai rolled his eyes and imitated a crone voice.

"Yes, my dear. Take the apple. Just one bite!" He dropped the imitation, though still joking.

"Do you have a prince on speed dial?" And then he dropped the joke.

"No, seriously. If you don't like the red one, here's a green one. Just... indulge the weird guy?" He held the two apples out to her now.

Sighing, she took the apple in hand and, well checked those around and bit. after a moment she released and handed the apple back, thinking him a very weird one at this precise moment.

Malykai took the apple into his palm, turning and studying the marks in the apple's flesh. It took him probably a whole minute before he did anything else. Then he let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding and broke into a smile of relief.

"Thank goodness! It isn't you." The man then considered the conspicuous markings and didn't really know what to do with it. He moved it as though to bite off the bite mark, but stopped before he could get it to his mouth. He tried again with the same result and then sighed, offering it back to her.

"Hungry?" Eating a vampire's bite seemed kind of weird to him. That was why Kai couldn't do it.

Malykai took another swig before raising his glass to her. The man was definitely glad he had come to have a drink. However, as he looked at her empty cups.

"So would we rather get pulled over for you driving over the limit, or for me not having license and registration?"

Malykai chuckled at her antics, trying to hide his face behind his mug as he downed the last of his beer.

"I feel like we should come up with a code word. Like... Aardvark."

Kai just shrugged. He really didn't mind being by himself. He was perfectly capable of entertaining himself until she came back.

An hour or so later she returned and looked Kai over, looking more refreshed, and a bit more... feisty as she ordered more to drink.

Kai barely even glanced up. He had a huge jar sitting on the table, and it was probably 3/4 of the way full of various denominations of dollar bills. His green eyes settled on the woman who was looking at him hopefully. He rubbed his hands together and grabbed her around the wrists.

"Okay... Josephine. Jo." The girl giggled slightly, nervously.

"You can't wipe away the past. Stop trying. You should dye your hair back to its natural blonde. Remember..." The young woman interrupted.

"What about love?" Kai frowned at her.

"Love for you is mixed with other things. But, Jo, love isn't a vice. It isn't drugs or coffee." The woman's face fell and she suddenly looked like she wanted to jerk her hands away. Kai gave her a look. "You asked. I'm just telling you. You won't be able to move forward until you let go of those confusing vices that interrupt the signals."

"But I will be able to move forward?" Kai didn't respond, and the girl's face filled with a hopeful expression. She dug through her purse and dropped a twenty into his jar. Malykai turned to look at the thing, speaking now to Ajora.

"You know, I can honestly say this has never happened to me before. I don't know what to do about it." He flicked the money jar absently.

She chided softly, resting back in the seat.

Malykai gave her a flat look.

"I didn't do it on purpose. I was here all by myself with nothing to do and so I was only going to do one or two. But then..." He sighed, rubbing his head.

"Don't worry, most of those people are so drunk they won't even remember it when they sober up. Besides, if they think about it, they'll realize that I only told them about things they already knew." He frowned at the money jar.

"Which brings us back to the main problem... Know any good charities?"

" Not a clue, actually... but we probably better go get you your clothes, anyway."

Malykai looked at the jar. He really didn't like the idea of using his abilities for financial gain, especially when he wasn't really even using them. The man suddenly looked up at Ajora and pushed the jar to her.

"I've officially adopted you as my charity case." And then he pretty much ran out of the bar.
