Hunter and Naomi's Prelude

Hunter looked at her as he moved her into a sitting position and wrapped her back in the blanket.

"Do you want to hold your child?"

Oh, the tears started as she reached out to take the teeny tiny little thing from Hunter.

" Will..."

She paused, glancing over the infant.

" Will she make it?"

she asked gently, wincing at the pinching of the little mouth before she figured out it was hungry, moving to prick and feed.

Hunter held her and the child.

"Vampire children are very resilient. Her heart is working, so as long as she is cared for, she has good chances."

Naomi nodded slowly, snuggling Hunter, wiping at her tears.

" I didn't see it coming, i'm sorry."

Hunter shook his head, stroking her hair.

"Shh... It's alright. She's a trooper."

He kissed Naomi's cheek.

"What are we going to call her?"

she echoed softly, cuddling to Hunter a bit more.

HUnter just gave a small nod, holding Naomi. He wouldn't push anymore. He offered her a small smile, kissing and loving on her.

"You did a really good job."

Hunter shook his head.

"No. If you hadn't handled her like you had, if you wouldn't have come and gotten me when you did - she wouldn't have made it."

Hunter nodded.

"If you want to, we can. I'll just need to get smaller diapers."

It wasn't like she could make that big of a mess, though. She was tiny.

naomi looked over their baby.

" Like... a gauze patch."

she commented softly, touching the tiny one...

" and she can't nurse... "

she couldn't feed her baby, either...

" and she can't be dressed...."

Hunter looked at Naomi.

"You can still feed her breastmilk by hand. And it's okay that she can't be dressed - she needs skin-to-skin contact with you."

Naomi wiped at her tears, pulling the tiny thing closer to herself, seeming to half curl about it as she snuggled to hunter's arms.

Naomi would pass out soon enough, and the baby would be thrashing in it's mother's hands before long. it was use to a constant blood feed.

Pinch, attempt suck. More worming and fighting.

Max wondered in, and stared.

" sh*t. Are they okay?"

Just knew leaving her alone was a bad idea.

Hunter bit his finger for the child, looking up at Max. He gave a half shrug. What was he supposed to say? They obviously weren't.

Hunter gave a soft sigh, looking down between them.

"...I think the rest is best for them right now. We are going to need some boxed of gauze pads, some tiny safety pins, and those medicine dropper syringes."

He wished he knew what to do for Naomi...

Hunter would simply stay there with her, holding her and the baby. Yeah, he was worried about them.

Max would return with the gauze, and something other then a pin, it was paper tape. He also had a small doll sized bed and it was made up as he placed th things down for hunter.

" I worried about pinning and stabbing..."

cause if they accidentally pricked a child of this size....

Max nodded slowly, absently working on the small crib. Soon it would be put together and on naomi's night stand.

Hunter shifted slightly, letting Naomi lay down flat in the bed now. What about the other children? Were they okay?

Namoi would rest, and the child would be a constant blood sucker...

and Absently Max was assembling little slide on diapers for micro baby.

" Do you have a name? ... If not, she like's Awa....And Blossom."

he knew about those names before the temper/baby loss issue they had dealt with.

"There were a couple we had talked about from before... but no, we haven't picked out one yet. We didn't expect to need one so soon?"

he mentioned, moving to lightly touch Naomi's hair, just once, before he left the room.

"What do you want to call her?"

Even though she wasn't awake, he spoke anyhow, not expecting any kind of response. She had liked Raven and Willow from the last one... However, with a Roselyn, he didn't think he would like a Raven too... He didn't mind Awa - but he didn't like Blossom.

naomi stirred, snuggling closer to hunter. That was all for the time being.

For the record, she'd not use blossom, or raven for this little one.
