Hunter and Naomi's Prelude

Naomi reached over now and lightly took the cub.

I'll watch her.

She stated gently, carefully moving to sit on the dryer, lightly petting her. Poor little pup.

Fang stalked off down the hall, disappearing. Hunter moved into the laundry room, gathering a few towels. It would actually be Thimbleton that bathed Fang. The brownie took great pleasure in hosing the creature down. Fang didn't like it very much. He would be clean by the time Hunter got there. The vampire would dry up the wolf's cubbyhole first.

Then, about ten minutes later, a very slightly damp Fang would make his way tiredly down the hall. Hunter had wrapped up a cut on the wolf's right fore leg. The wolf would sniff around until he found Naomi back in the utility room. He would sit down and yip at her.

Naomi looked down at Fang and smiled, looking the wolf over. It was slow moving even for her, as she was depleted so much... But she would make it to her room, and climb into her bed, leaving room for father beside the cub, even as she made sure the little girl was covered and warm. She had the formula and extra jars beside her as she started to blink out. She was here to help, Fang. If nothing else, the little woman was a good mother, to a cub.

Fang normally didn't do things like this, as it just wasn't in his nature. However, the wolf jumped up into the bed, plodding along the mattress and laying down beside his last pup. He curled is tail about her so that she was tucked into his body warmth as he lay down to sleep in the same bed with Naomi.

Hunter, meanwhile, was putting sheets on his bed so that he might lay down as well. He didn't so much as ask Thimbleton why there had been no sheets on it in the first place.

Naomi rested, making sure the pair was covered, like it or not, his daughter needed it. Naomi would also wake nearly everytime the pup would. She fed it, she nursed it, she smiled as it looked about. She would kiss the top of it's head. She even got up and took it outside and let it potty. She would lift it right back up and take it back inside to Fang, laying back down. She needed the rest so badly....

Fang took his cub right back, licking at her. After a while, Fang lifted his big head, looking over Naomi with his icy blue eyes. Then, he ducked his head for a moment, picking up the pup in his mouth. He was being gentle - it wouldn't hurt her. Then, the wolf got up and walked across the bed. The animal lay back down, pressed to Naomi's torso as he put the pup down and then curled around her again.

Naomi was sleeping when Fang did this, and she would merely rest her arm over the pair in her sleep, completely lost now. She would wake if the little girl did, but otherwise, unless Hunter came to poke at her... She was sleeping.

Hunter wouldn't come to bother her.

Fang and his cub were sleeping heavily, the male actually snoring faintly.

The house would actually remain quiet until Naomi woke on her own, possibly even until after.

Naomi wouldn't wake until the next night, and then it would be with a slow stretch as she leaned over and checked on the cub. She smiled and nuzzled the little one, smirking at the little nuzzle she got back. Sweet little...

She shifted as she got chewed on a bit and started feeding the little thing. Hungry, hungry, hungry.

Fang would slowly open one eye, watching her. Then, after laying there lazily for a little while, the animal would slip out from under the blanket and away from her. He shook his pelt to settle his fur properly before casting her and his cub one more glance. Then, he hopped out of the bed and then slipped out of her room.

If nothing else, Naomi was a devote nurse, tending and watching the cub. Honestly, the small creature brought alot of comfort to the woman who was otherwise extremely lonely right now. She knew she should not have said anything, and she kicked herself, even now.

" Your so lively now."

She laughed, feeding the cub baby food right now.

The cub yipped, pouncing at her hand and chewing on it, only seeming half interested in the food. She was colored like her father, except that her gray and brown framed her face instead, only spilling as far as her shoulder blades. She had the same blue eyes.

Speaking of Daddy, Fang had returned and was currently standing on his back paws, his front ones on the edge of the bed so that he could look over the edge.

If Naomi was to listen, she would note no extra movement in the house. Hunter was still in bed.

Naomi took this well, the food was put aside and Naomi was fine with playing with the cub, laughing and letting it bite and pounce and such. She would roll it around once in a while, you know, to make it fun, but absolutely nothing that would actually harm the little thing.

" Your so cute!"

She informed the little cub.

The little girl would happily play, plodding around on the bed. After a couple a minutes, Fang would leap up there, landing with a heavy bounce. The little pup would give a cute bark at her father, throwing her little paws on his nose as he sniffed at her. Then, after a moment, Fang would look up at Naomi, rubbing his head under her chin and then licking her face. Thanks if there ever was any.

Naomi smiled as Fang showed up. She backed off and nuzzled Fang before she left her bed. Father and put belonged together. The woman would take the time to wash, change, and then sit in the bathroom. What on earth was she doing? Staying here and all that. Who was she fooling? She wasn't strong enough to look Hunter in the face and....

Then she nearly stepped on Thimbleton, and she just broke.

" I am sorry, are you okay? I ... I am not myself.."

Fang would pick up the pup in his mouth and carry her out of the bedroom, watching her explore the house.

Thimbleton just stared at Naomi.

"Trying to squish me? Ha!"

He brandished his needle like a sword.

"I'd show you!"

Naomi smiled sadly.

" I would deserve it kind caretaker and protector. Forgive me."

She stated softly, stepping around him now and walking back to her room, cleaning up the used things, keeping to herself.

Either way, Thimbleton went back to what he was doing. A couple minutes later, Naomi would be able to observe something that looked peculiarly like a bucket with legs walk by her bedroom door, walking down the hall towards the book nook. Thimbleton was carrying a mop bucket from the kitchen back towards Hunter's part of the house.

Naomi cleaned her own room, tossing her sheets in the wash, and then went to clean the kitchen. She needed something to keep her mind off of things.

You want to talk about something that could throw off an only partially domesticated animal? Moving his water bowl. He had been nudging the little pup towards where it was supposed to be only to find that it was gone. It had gotten placed up on the counter.

Naomi looked over and shifted and set the bowl down before the pair, eyes running over the two.

" You know, you should name her, Fang..."

She informed the father.

" She reminds me of Thalia. One of the three goddesses of Beauty. She was good cheer. Of course, there is the goddess of Luck, too, and fate, given her circumstances..."

But she was such a happy cub....

Fang gave the woman a look. Sometimes, he seemed almost human in his ability to communicate with his eyes.

Just because we don't speak your language doesn't mean that she doesn't have a name, they said.

He considered the little pup, growling faintly as she hopped into the water dish. However, then, he looked up at Naomi and gave a curt flick of the head that looked peculiarly like a nod.

Naomi was easy to ... She knew she was crazy for talking to the wolf now as she knelt down and pet the cub for a moment, absently cleaning the mess.

" I am sorry."

She was doing that alot.

Fang licked Naomi's face once she was close enough. He obviously wasn't upset. Thalia growled at Naomi cutely as she got picked up out of the bowl.

Naomi's reaction was one of those knee-jerk kinds to the little cub, growling right back. In no way harmful as she kissed the top of the little's head.

" Thimbleton already hates the mess I cause, little one. I am sorry."

Apologies aplenty right now. If you wanted one, come get it.

Thalia didn't mind at all. She was a wolf, what was a little growl among friends? She yipped and then scampered off when she was put back down.

Fang stalked off slowly, letting the cub play wherever she had gone to.

Naomi watched and sat there, silent and stationary, the kitchen all but sparkling now. She had no more to do. So she just... sat there. She should feed, and eat... but the energy and motivation to do such....

Naomi sighed.

" If you hurt her, i will squish you."

small spark of the normal Naomi.

Naomi would tentatively move to check on Hunter now. Merely out of concern, she knew he'd been hurt.... Between you, me, and the wall, she had brief marks to mirror his, in a minor way. She just healed so fast....

Hunter was laying dead center of his bed, just a lump under the blankets. In fact, they were pulled all the way over his head and everything. He didn't so much as move when Naomi entered the room. It didn't seem like he was awake.

Naomi would slowly move to the bed and tenderly unwrap the blankets from him to start checking over Hunter. She meant no harm at all. Just a concerned woman, who happened to love him.

The second that she tugged on his blankets, the man would turn over and grab at her wrist tight enough to stop all blood flow to her fingers. Hunter's eyes would rest blearily on the woman for a moment, blinking a few times before he processed what he was seeing.

"Naomi?"

He released her.

"Sorry... I didn't realize..."

Hunter shifted a little, pulling his blankets back up around his chin.

"I'm not feeling up to much right now. Maybe a little later?"

It was spoken quietly as he closed his eyes. The man's skin was blazing hot to the touch.

Naomi looked at Hunter, making a tiny face.

" I promise I had no intent to use you."

She stated softly, keeping the tiny hurts to herself as she tenderly pried the blanket free of his grasp.

" I only want to help if I can."

She stated even more faintly, as if this situation had frightened the voice from her body. It sort of had. Despite this, her touch was steady as she placed her hand upon his brow.

" Hunter...."

Poor man... She....

Hunter's first murmuring had come faintly from a snug position with his blanket.

"That isn't what I meant. I meant that I didn't want to get up yet."

As she pulled away his blankets, he scowled faintly, and then he pulled away his head from her hand.

"Your fingers are freezing!"

Naomi shook her head.

" Your running a high temp."

She replied gently.

Well, that and she was needing to eat, but still. You were still burning up.

"I'll be alright..."

Hunter sighed tiredly, gesturing for her to go ahead. He didn't know what she wanted to look at, but why not? He blinked a few more times, his eyes running over her.

"You look pale."

He had two wounds, excluding all of the random bite marks from various species. The first, a deep cut on his thigh, was completely fine. Nothing would seem off about that. The other was a larger, jagged wound that stretched from his left hip to his belly button. It was definitely infected, but it didn't seem so in the normal way. Isn't it wonderful how things always have a supernatural twist? For starters, this swollen wound was burnt black at the edges and even hotter to the touch than the rest of him.

Naomi knelt now, looking over Hunter, fingers lightly brushing his wound.

" to hell with me."

she replied honestly, looking like she might just fall over dead. She told him the truth, and this happens. The gods were certainly punishing her...

Hunter recoiled reflexively, grunting softly. He really wished she wouldn't touch. The man's crimson eyes seemed to be glowing faintly as they turned over her.

"You should eat something. I don't think that me feeding you would be a great idea right now..."

It was true, emotions could rule you just as much when your vampire as when your human. She was struggling with a different issue...

" Worry about you."

she stated softly, sighing.

" I can not help you."

It hurt, that's why she had become a doctor in the first place.... and she was useless... all she could do was pray... and she was silently doing this already....

It was like the light came on then. Okay, Hunter was running a 104 degree fever. Cut him some slack for being a little slow.

"Oh! Doctor! You want to go get the um... kit out of the bathroom?"

He gestured absently. She didn't have to.
