On the Floor

[Tree]

Alyson was presently standing on the airplane, looking between the two men on either side of her. She wasn't so sure about this right now. honestly, she was terrified of leaving what she knew... that's likely why she had excused herself to the bathroom with the intent of slipping off the plane and remaining put... she didn't make it that far though.





Some little old man she had never seen before commented before she slipped off the plane.



" I had that look once... it resulted in the biggest mistake I have ever made in my life. I ran from my wife and child as they were moving west..... She never looked back and when I finally had the nerve to find her, she had remarried with three more youngings at her knee. She wanted nothing more to do with me.... I never got my life on track after that, drinking and gambling my life away."



the old man smiled, looking over Alyson.



" took my granddaughter offering to fly me out to realize I had made an even bigger mistake... So here I am, at 92 finally making the trip i should have in the first place, with my ex wife dead, son dead, and grand daughter taking pity on an old man. "





Alyson kind of stood there, listening to the story, looking back towards Cael and Mason... slowly she moved back to her seat between the two, putting the armrests up and worming her way into each person's arms, nervous as hell.









Two days and three flights later, she would find herself standing on foreign soil she was now to call home. She looked like she might pass out right then and there as she followed the car they had sent to drive her to her new home......



upon entry though she was handed a pen. She was a bit puzzled but took it, looking over the chatty man.



" I realize we should have had you sign this before you came out here, but we forgot to mail all the paperwork and by the time we remembered it was already too late, sign here please."



he motioned, watching Alyson read the papers and sign kind of robotically. Then the man nodded, tipping his little top hat like hat at her.



" well good day, miss, see you next week."



and out the door he went.



Alyson did pass out now, hitting the floor with a hard 'thwack'. Title to the car, signed. Deed to the house? signed.... she thought it was paid for living quarters, not her own freaking house!!!!

[Sushi]

Mason looked over at Cael.



"Why didn't you catch her?"



"I was all the way over here. I'm not superman. I didn't know she was going to faint."



"Is that normal?"



Cael just rolled his eyes and propped Alyson up, fanning at her with a random notepad that had been laying on the table nearby. At least she didn't hit the table on the way down?

[Tree]

Alyson woke, holding her head and looking at the couple pairs of the same two men with an odd look.



" Ouch."



she proclaimed, still shaking a bit with nerves. What if she failed?

[Sushi]

"I told Cael to catch you. He didn't listen."



Cael just sighed.



"Are you okay?"

[Tree]

" I think i might be sick..."





she answered honestly, feeling kind of dead.

[Sushi]

Cael helped her to sit up the rest of the way.



"You're going to be alright. Deep breaths."

[Tree]

Alyson nodded slowly, looking to the pair.



" i think i should have left the plane like i was thinking."



it was all real, now. she was here.

[Sushi]

"No, this was a good decision. Think of all of the positives. It's going to be fine."



Cael reassured her.



"Yeah! Just think! You'll be able to do this job when you're old and crumbly!"



"...Mason, that's not helping."

[Tree]

" ugh, old and crumbly, thanks."

[Sushi]

"Um..."



At least Mason had meant well? He was now searching.



"I got it! This way, you'll have time to spend with the kid other than worrying about teaching to be a dancer too... or a chippendale..."



As the case may be.

[Tree]

" i am not crazy, their fathers are professional thieves and doctors. they have higher potential then what I am ."



not the terrified, depressed would would move from cael and go locate and hide in, her room upstairs.

[Sushi]

"Well... when you put it that way... Man..." Mason glanced over at Cael. "We really are opposite ends of the spectrum.



Cael followed, standing outside the door to say something.



"And their mother is a strong woman that knows just how to take hold of her life and do what she wants, whether it's dancing or marine biology."

[Tree]

" Who is a nothing, and nobody."



she replied gently, cuddling the new bed, crying now. she was scared out of her mind.

[Sushi]

"Not true. You wouldn't have gotten this job if that were true."



"Yeah! You got skillz!"



Cael shot Mason a dirty look, who had apparently followed him.

[Tree]

Alyson simply cried, holding her pillow close.



" i didn't sleep with them."



she defended weakly, feeling lower now.

[Sushi]

"Huh?" they said in unison.



Cael continued after a pause.



"Neither of us thought you did..."

[Tree]

Mason's skills comment had gotten it.





either way, alyson just cried herself to sleep.jet lag and all.

[Sushi]

The boys would disperse. Mason went to go explore, both inside and out... Cael worked on unpacking.

[Tree]

Alyson worked on unpacking her tiny two suitcases and would kind of keep to her room for the most part, over thinking this entire thing, even sneaking out of the house without getting caught a week later when she started her job.

[Sushi]

Mason had disappeared from the house by this point. He had been missing for days, not that this would have been abnormal at home. Cael just sat alone in the living room, looking at the last box in the entire house.

[Tree]

Alyson looked to him, dripping wet, and crying a tiny bit.



" I ... I .... Can we go home?"



She was already striping her wet clothing off, the bruises on her arms and legs clear.

[Sushi]

"...What happened?"



Cael eyed her with minor alarm. Did sheget in a fight with a dolphin?

[Tree]

" it was suppose to be just me diving and researching. They gave me a partner..... he asked what i used to do before i got stuck here...."



she shuddered.

[Sushi]

"...Did you report it?"

[Tree]

" I ran... i ran to my car and didn't look back..."





she offered him lightly.

[Sushi]

Cael got up, guiding her to the couch.



"Here, let me look over you."



At the same time, he had already called the cops with the phone pinched between his ear and shoulder.

[Tree]

some bruising, maybe a broken wrist, nothing too terrible over all. well, for what could have happened. she kept the guy from actually raping her.

[Sushi]

Cael looked across her wrist.



"We need to take you to the hospital to have this x-rayed. it might be broken. I just can't tell by touching, especially with all of the swelling."

[Tree]

" even here.... "



she looked so crushed right now.

[Sushi]

Cael shook his head some as he helped her outside to drive her to the hospital.



"No. The police are going to come take your report. Tomorrow you're going to inform your employer of what happened. This is not acceptable. You don't have to deal with this."

[Tree]

" it doesn't really matter, we don't need to do this..."

[Sushi]

"Yes, we do. We're not going to put up with this sort of behavior. No one is going to ruin this for you."

[Tree]

" cael... it is what i am, and you won't always be here to help me."



she pointed out, thinking of how long she would waste studying. then he would only have a handful of years. then he would be gone, and mason... he was so up and down she didn't know what to think.

[Sushi]

Cael looked down at her as he helped her out of the car.



"No. That's just it. It's not who you are anymore."



Into the hospital.

[Tree]

" isn't it? i never had issues with what i did...."



well, she had always been a dancer, a little for hire sex partner, not so much.

[Sushi]

"But even then, you had control over what was done. You were a dancer, not a prostitute."

[Tree]

" not a far stretch, trust me."

[Sushi]

"No, but a clear difference."



Cael went with her as she was taken to a room, waiting on the xray room to be available.

[Tree]

" please... cael, when you are gone..."



when he was gone there would be no one there to defend her, protect her.. mason who knew where he would be.

[Sushi]

"By then, no one will want to mess with you, and even if they did, you'd be able to handle them."
